ikrqu pieAw nh mytY koie ] (154-1)
kirat pa-i-aa nah maytai ko-ay.
Past actions cannot be erased.

ikAw jwxw ikAw AwgY hoie ] (154-1)
ki-aa jaanaa ki-aa aagai ho-ay.
What do we know of what will happen hereafter?

jo iqsu Bwxw soeI hUAw ] (154-1)
jo tis bhaanaa so-ee hoo-aa.
Whatever pleases Him shall come to pass.

Avru n krxY vwlw dUAw ]1] (154-2)
avar na karnai vaalaa doo-aa. ||1||
There is no other Doer except Him. ||1||

nw jwxw krm kyvf qyrI dwiq ] (154-2)
naa jaanaa karam kayvad tayree daat.
I do not know about karma, or how great Your gifts are.

krmu Drmu qyry nwm kI jwiq ]1] rhwau ] (154-2)
karam Dharam tayray naam kee jaat. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The karma of actions, the Dharma of righteousness, social class and status, are contained within Your Name. ||1||Pause||

qU eyvfu dwqw dyvxhwru ] (154-3)
too ayvad daataa dayvanhaar.
You are So Great, O Giver, O Great Giver!

qoit nwhI quDu Bgiq BMfwr ] (154-3)
tot naahee tuDh bhagat bhandaar.
The treasure of Your devotional worship is never exhausted.

kIAw grbu n AwvY rwis ] (154-3)
kee-aa garab na aavai raas.
One who takes pride in himself shall never be right.

jIau ipMfu sBu qyrY pwis ]2] (154-4)
jee-o pind sabh tayrai paas. ||2||
The soul and body are all at Your disposal. ||2||

qU mwir jIvwlih bKis imlwie ] (154-4)
too maar jeevaaleh bakhas milaa-ay.
You kill and rejuvenate. You forgive and merge us into Yourself.

ijau BwvI iqau nwmu jpwie ] (154-4)
ji-o bhaavee ti-o naam japaa-ay.
As it pleases You, You inspire us to chant Your Name.

qUM dwnw bInw swcw isir myrY ] (154-5)
tooN daanaa beenaa saachaa sir mayrai.
You are All-knowing, All-seeing and True, O my Supreme Lord.

gurmiq dyie BrosY qyrY ]3] (154-5)
gurmat day-ay bharosai tayrai. ||3||
Please, bless me with the Guru's Teachings; my faith is in You alone. ||3||

qn mih mYlu nwhI mnu rwqw ] (154-5)
tan meh mail naahee man raataa.
One whose mind is attuned to the Lord, has no pollution in his body.

gur bcnI scu sbid pCwqw ] (154-6)
gur bachnee sach sabad pachhaataa.
Through the Guru's Word, the True Shabad is realized.

qyrw qwxu nwm kI vifAweI ] (154-6)
tayraa taan naam kee vadi-aa-ee.
All Power is Yours, through the greatness of Your Name.

nwnk rhxw Bgiq srxweI ]4]10] (154-6)
naanak rahnaa bhagat sarnaa-ee. ||4||10||
Nanak abides in the Sanctuary of Your devotees. ||4||10||

ijin AkQu khwieAw AipE pIAwieAw ] (154-7)
jin akath kahaa-i-aa api-o pee-aa-i-aa.
Those who speak the Unspoken, drink in the Nectar.

An BY ivsry nwim smwieAw ]1] (154-7)
an bhai visray naam samaa-i-aa. ||1||
Other fears are forgotten, and they are absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ikAw frIAY fru frih smwnw ] (154-8)
ki-aa daree-ai dar dareh samaanaa.
Why should we fear, when fear is dispelled by the Fear of God?

pUry gur kY sbid pCwnw ]1] rhwau ] (154-8)
pooray gur kai sabad pachhaanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, I recognize God. ||1||Pause||

ijsu nr rwmu irdY hir rwis ] shij suBwie imly swbwis ]2] (154-9)
jis nar raam ridai har raas. sahj subhaa-ay milay saabaas. ||2||
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord's essence are blessed and acclaimed, and intuitively absorbed into the Lord. ||2||

jwih svwrY swJ ibAwl ] (154-9)
jaahi savaarai saajh bi-aal.
Those whom the Lord puts to sleep, evening and morning

ieq auq mnmuK bwDy kwl ]3] (154-9)
it ut manmukh baaDhay kaal. ||3||
- those self-willed manmukhs are bound and gagged by Death, here and hereafter. ||3||

Aihinis rwmu irdY sy pUry ] (154-10)
ahinis raam ridai say pooray.
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord, day and night, are perfect.

nwnk rwm imly BRm dUry ]4]11] (154-10)
naanak raam milay bharam dooray. ||4||11||
O Nanak, they merge into the Lord, and their doubts are cast away. ||4||11||

jnim mrY qRY gux ihqkwru ] (154-11)
janam marai tarai gun hitkaar.
One who loves the three qualities is subject to birth and death.

cwry byd kQih Awkwru ] (154-11)
chaaray bayd katheh aakaar.
The four Vedas speak only of the visible forms.

qIin AvsQw khih viKAwnu ] (154-11)
teen avasthaa kaheh vakhi-aan.
They describe and explain the three states of mind,

qurIAwvsQw siqgur qy hir jwnu ]1] (154-12)
turee-aavasthaa satgur tay har jaan. ||1||
but the fourth state, union with the Lord, is known only through the True Guru. ||1||

rwm Bgiq gur syvw qrxw ] (154-12)
raam bhagat gur sayvaa tarnaa.
Through devotional worship of the Lord, and service to the Guru, one swims across.

bwhuiV jnmu n hoie hY mrxw ]1] rhwau ] (154-12)
baahurh janam na ho-ay hai marnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Then, one is not born again, and is not subject to death. ||1||Pause||

cwir pdwrQ khY sBu koeI ] (154-13)
chaar padaarath kahai sabh ko-ee.
Everyone speaks of the four great blessings;

isMimRiq swsq pMifq muiK soeI ] (154-13)
simrit saasat pandit mukh so-ee.
the Simritees, the Shaastras and the Pandits speak of them as well.

ibnu gur ArQu bIcwru n pwieAw ] (154-13)
bin gur arath beechaar na paa-i-aa.
But without the Guru, they do not understand their true significance.

mukiq pdwrQu Bgiq hir pwieAw ]2] (154-14)
mukat padaarath bhagat har paa-i-aa. ||2||
The treasure of liberation is obtained through devotional worship of the Lord. ||2||

jw kY ihrdY visAw hir soeI ] (154-14)
jaa kai hirdai vasi-aa har so-ee.
Those, within whose hearts the Lord dwells,

gurmuiK Bgiq prwpiq hoeI ] (154-15)
gurmukh bhagat paraapat ho-ee.
become Gurmukh; they receive the blessings of devotional worship.

hir kI Bgiq mukiq Awnµdu ] (154-15)
har kee bhagat mukat aanand.
Through devotional worship of the Lord, liberation and bliss are obtained.

gurmiq pwey prmwnµdu ]3] (154-15)
gurmat paa-ay parmaanand. ||3||
Through the Guru's Teachings, supreme ecstasy is obtained. ||3||

ijin pwieAw guir dyiK idKwieAw ] (154-16)
jin paa-i-aa gur daykh dikhaa-i-aa.
One who meets the Guru, beholds Him, and inspires others to behold Him as well.

Awsw mwih inrwsu buJwieAw ] (154-16)
aasaa maahi niraas bujhaa-i-aa.
In the midst of hope, the Guru teaches us to live above hope and desire.

dInw nwQu srb suKdwqw ] (154-16)
deenaa naath sarab sukh-daata.
He is the Master of the meek, the Giver of peace to all.

nwnk hir crxI mnu rwqw ]4]12] (154-17)
naanak har charnee man raataa. ||4||12||
Nanak's mind is imbued with the Lotus Feet of the Lord. ||4||12||

AMimRq kwieAw rhY suKwlI bwjI iehu sMswro ] (154-17)
amrit kaa-i-aa rahai sukhaalee baajee ih sansaaro.
With your nectar-like body, you live in comfort, but this world is just a passing drama.

lbu loBu mucu kUVu kmwvih bhuqu auTwvih Bwro ] (154-18)
lab lobh much koorh kamaaveh bahut uthaaveh bhaaro.
You practice greed, avarice and great falsehood, and you carry such a heavy burden.

qUM kwieAw mY ruldI dyKI ijau Dr aupir Cwro ]1] (154-18)
tooN kaa-i-aa mai ruldee daykhee ji-o Dhar upar chhaaro. ||1||
O body, I have seen you blowing away like dust on the earth. ||1||

suix suix isK hmwrI ] (154-19)
sun sun sikh hamaaree.
Listen - listen to my advice!

suik®qu kIqw rhsI myry jIAVy bhuiV n AwvY vwrI ]1] rhwau ] (154-19)
sukarit keetaa rahsee mayray jee-arhay bahurh na aavai vaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Only the good deeds which you have done shall remain with you, O my soul. This opportunity shall not come again! ||1||Pause||
