sabhnee ghatee saho vasai sah bin ghat na ko-ay.
God the Cosmic Husband dwells within all hearts; without Him, there is no heart at all.

naanak tay sohaaganee jinHaa gurmukh pargat ho-ay. ||19||
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are the happy, virtuous soul-brides; the Lord is revealed to them. ||19||

jau qau pRym Kylx kw cwau ] (1412-2)
ja-o ta-o paraym khaylan kaa chaa-o.
If you desire to play this game of love with Me,

isru Dir qlI glI myrI Awau ] (1412-2)
sir Dhar talee galee mayree aa-o.
then step onto My Path with your head in hand.

iequ mwrig pYru DrIjY ] (1412-3)
it maarag pair Dhareejai.
When you place your feet on this Path,

isru dIjY kwix n kIjY ]20] (1412-3)
sir deejai kaan na keejai. ||20||
give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion. ||20||

nwil ikrwVw dosqI kUVY kUVI pwie ] (1412-3)
naal kiraarhaa dostee koorhai koorhee paa-ay.
False is friendship with the false and greedy. False is its foundation.

mrxu n jwpY mUilAw AwvY ikqY Qwie ]21] (1412-4)
maran na jaapai mooli-aa aavai kitai thaa-ay. ||21||
O Moollah, no one knows where death shall strike. ||21||

igAwn hIxM AigAwn pUjw ] (1412-4)
gi-aan heenaN agi-aan poojaa.
Without spiritual wisdom, the people worship ignorance.

AMD vrqwvw Bwau dUjw ]22] (1412-5)
anDh vartaavaa bhaa-o doojaa. ||22||
They grope in the darkness, in the love of duality. ||22||

gur ibnu igAwnu Drm ibnu iDAwnu ] (1412-5)
gur bin gi-aan Dharam bin Dhi-aan.
Without the Guru, there is no spiritual wisdom; without Dharma, there is no meditation.

sc ibnu swKI mUlo n bwkI ]23] (1412-5)
sach bin saakhee moolo na baakee. ||23||
Without Truth, there is no credit; without capital, there is no balance. ||23||

maanoo ghalai uthee chalai.
The mortals are sent into the world; then, they arise and depart.

swdu nwhI ievyhI glY ]24] (1412-6)
saad naahee ivayhee galai. ||24||
There is no joy in this. ||24||

raam jhurai dal maylvai antar bal aDhikaar.
Raam Chand, sad at heart, assembled his army and forces.

bMqr kI sYnw syvIAY min qin juJu Apwru ] (1412-7)
bantar kee sainaa sayvee-ai man tan jujh apaar.
The army of monkeys was at his service; his mind and body became eager for war.

sIqw lY gieAw dhisro lCmxu mUE srwip ] (1412-7)
seetaa lai ga-i-aa dehsiro lachhman moo-o saraap.
Raawan captured his wife Sita, and Lachhman was cursed to die.

naanak kartaa karanhaar kar vaykhai thaap uthaap. ||25||
O Nanak, the Creator Lord is the Doer of all; He watches over all, and destroys what He has created. ||25||

man meh jhoorai raamchand seetaa lachhman jog.
In his mind, Raam Chand mourned for Sita and Lachhman.

hxvMqru AwrwiDAw AwieAw kir sMjogu ] (1412-9)
hanvantar aaraaDhi-aa aa-i-aa kar sanjog.
Then, he remembered Hanuman the monkey-god, who came to him.

BUlw dYqu n smJeI iqin pRB kIey kwm ] (1412-9)
bhoolaa dait na samjha-ee tin parabh kee-ay kaam.
The misguided demon did not understand that God is the Doer of deeds.

nwnk vyprvwhu so ikrqu n imteI rwm ]26] (1412-10)
naanak vayparvaahu so kirat na mit-ee raam. ||26||
O Nanak, the actions of the Self-existent Lord cannot be erased. ||26||

laahour sahar jahar kahar savaa pahar. ||27||
The city of Lahore suffered terrible destruction for four hours. ||27||

The city of Lahore is a pool of ambrosial nectar, the home of praise. ||28||

udosaahai ki-aa neesaanee tot na aavai annee.
What are the signs of a prosperous person? His stores of food never run out.

udosee-a gharay hee vuthee kurhi-eeN rannee Dhammee.
Prosperity dwells in his home, with the sounds of girls and women.

sqI rMnI Gry isAwpw rovin kUVI kMmI ] (1412-13)
satee rannee gharay si-aapaa rovan koorhee kammee.
All the women of his home shout and cry over useless things.

jo lyvY so dyvY nwhI Kty dMm shMmI ]29] (1412-13)
jo layvai so dayvai naahee khatay damm sahamee. ||29||
Whatever he takes, he does not give back. Seeking to earn more and more, he is troubled and uneasy. ||29||

pabar tooN haree-aavlaa kavlaa kanchan vann.
O lotus, your leaves were green, and your blossoms were gold.

kai dokh-rhai sarhi-ohi kaalee ho-ee-aa dayhuree naanak mai tan bhang.
What pain has burnt you, and made your body black? O Nanak, my body is battered.

jaanaa paanee naa lahaaN jai saytee mayraa sang.
I have not received that water which I love.

jit dithai tan parfurhai charhai chavgan vann. ||30||
Seeing it, my body blossomed forth, and I was blessed with a deep and beautiful color. ||30||

rij n koeI jIivAw phuic n cilAw koie ] (1412-16)
raj na ko-ee jeevi-aa pahuch na chali-aa ko-ay.
No one lives long enough to accomplish all he wishes.

igAwnI jIvY sdw sdw surqI hI piq hoie ] (1412-16)
gi-aanee jeevai sadaa sadaa surtee hee pat ho-ay.
Only the spiritually wise live forever; they are honored for their intuitive awareness.

srPY srPY sdw sdw eyvY geI ivhwie ] (1412-16)
sarfai sarfai sadaa sadaa ayvai ga-ee vihaa-ay.
Bit by bit, life passes away, even though the mortal tries to hold it back.

nwnk iks no AwKIAY ivxu puiCAw hI lY jwie ]31] (1412-17)
naanak kis no aakhee-ai vin puchhi-aa hee lai jaa-ay. ||31||
O Nanak, unto whom should we complain? Death takes one's life away without anyone's consent. ||31||

dosu n dyAhu rwie no miq clY jW buFw hovY ] (1412-17)
dos na day-ahu raa-ay no mat chalai jaaN budhaa hovai.
Do not blame the Sovereign Lord; when someone grows old, his intellect leaves him.

galaaN karay ghanayree-aa taaN annHay pavnaa khaatee tovai. ||32||
The blind man talks and babbles, and then falls into the ditch. ||32||

pUry kw kIAw sB ikCu pUrw Git viD ikCu nwhI ] (1412-18)
pooray kaa kee-aa sabh kichh pooraa ghat vaDh kichh naahee.
All that the Perfect Lord does is perfect; there is not too little, or too much.

nwnk gurmuiK AYsw jwxY pUry mWih smWhI ]33] (1412-19)
naanak gurmukh aisaa jaanai pooray maaNhi samaaNhee. ||33||
O Nanak, knowing this as Gurmukh, the mortal merges into the Perfect Lord God. ||33||
