Sagʰan. 1. ਗੂੜ੍ਹੀ, ਗਾੜ੍ਹੀ, ਸੰਘਣੀ। 2. ਬਹੁਤ, ਅਧਿਕ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਵਿਚ (ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼ ਇਥੇ ‘ਸਘਨ’ ਦੇ ਅਰਥ ਵਾਜਿਆਂ ਸਹਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)। 1. dense, thick; exceedingly, abundant. 2. good many, in great number.
ਉਦਾਹਰਨਾ:
1. ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਹੁ ਸਘਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਦੀਰਘ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ Raga Goojree 5, 30, 1:1 (P: 502).
ਸਘਨ ਬਾਸ ਕੂਲੇ ॥ (ਕੋਮਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਛਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਹੈ). Raga Basant 5, 18, 1:1 (P: 1185).
ਵਸਦੀ ਸਘਨ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਨੂਪ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਪੁਰ ॥ (ਸੰਘਣੀ). Funhe, Guru Arjan Dev, 10:3 (P: 1362).
2. ਕਬੀਰ ਹੈ ਗਇ ਬਾਹਨ ਸਘਨ ਘਨ ਲਾਖ ਧਜਾ ਫਹਰਾਹਿ ॥ Salok, Kabir, 112:1 (P: 1370).
