ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲਹਲ, ਹਲਾਹਲ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਲਾਹਲ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਹੀ ਹਨ. ਨਾਮ/n. ਉਹ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ, ਜੋ ਹਲ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਮੇਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਕਾਂ ਪਾ ਦੇਵੇ. ਦੇਖੋ- ਫ਼ਾ. [ہلاہل] ਹਲਾਹਲ. “ਛਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਦਲ ਦਾਨਵ ਕੋ ਜਿਮਿ ਘੂਮ ਹਲਾਹਲ ਕੀ ਮਖੀਆਂ.” (ਚੰਡੀ ੧) ਜਿਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਜਹਿਰ ਉੱਪਰ ਫੇਰਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੱਖੀਆਂ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ. Footnotes:
