ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਬ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
लख चउरासीह भ्रमते भ्रमते दुलभ जनमु अब पाइओ ॥१॥
Lakʰ cha▫oraaseeh bʰaramṫé bʰaramṫé ḋulabʰ janam ab paa▫i▫o. ||1||
Wandering and roaming through 8.4 million incarnations, you have now been given this human life, so difficult to obtain. ||1||
|
ਰੇ ਮੂੜੇ ਤੂ ਹੋਛੈ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ॥
रे मूड़े तू होछै रसि लपटाइओ ॥
Ré mooṛé ṫoo hochʰæ ras laptaa▫i▫o.
You fool! You are attached and clinging to such trivial pleasures!

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अमृतु संगि बसतु है तेरै बिखिआ सिउ उरझाइओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Amriṫ sang basaṫ hæ ṫéræ bikʰi▫aa si▫o urjʰaa▫i▫o. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Ambrosial Nectar abides with you, but you are engrossed in sin and corruption. ||1||Pause||

ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਬਨਜਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਕਾਲਰੁ ਲਾਦਿ ਚਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
रतन जवेहर बनजनि आइओ कालरु लादि चलाइओ ॥२॥
Raṫan javéhar banjan aa▫i▫o kaalar laaḋ chalaa▫i▫o. ||2||
You have come to trade in gems and jewels, but you have loaded only barren soil. ||2||
|
ਜਿਹ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਰਹਨਾ ਬਸਨਾ ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ॥੩॥
जिह घर महि तुधु रहना बसना सो घरु चीति न आइओ ॥३॥
Jih gʰar mėh ṫuḋʰ rahnaa basnaa so gʰar cheeṫ na aa▫i▫o. ||3||
That home within which you live - you have not kept that home in your thoughts. ||3||
|
ਅਟਲ ਅਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਤੁਝੁ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੪॥
अटल अखंड प्राण सुखदाई इक निमख नही तुझु गाइओ ॥४॥
Atal akʰand paraaṇ sukʰ▫ḋaa▫ee ik nimakʰ nahee ṫujʰ gaa▫i▫o. ||4||
He is immovable, indestructible, the Giver of peace to the soul; and yet you do not sing His Praises, even for an instant. ||4||
|
ਜਹਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਓ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੫॥
जहा जाणा सो थानु विसारिओ इक निमख नही मनु लाइओ ॥५॥
Jahaa jaaṇaa so ṫʰaan visaar▫i▫o ik nimakʰ nahee man laa▫i▫o. ||5||
You have forgotten that place where you must go; you have not attached your mind to the Lord, even for an instant. ||5||

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਇਸ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ॥੬॥
पुत्र कलत्र ग्रिह देखि समग्री इस ही महि उरझाइओ ॥६॥
Puṫar kalṫar garih ḋékʰ samagree is hee mėh urjʰaa▫i▫o. ||6||
Gazing upon your children, spouse, household and paraphernalia, you are entangled in them. ||6||

ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਓ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਤੈਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇਓ ॥੭॥
जितु को लाइओ तित ही लागा तैसे करम कमाइओ ॥७॥
Jiṫ ko laa▫i▫o ṫiṫ hee laagaa ṫæsé karam kamaa▫i▫o. ||7||
As God links the mortals, so are they linked, and so are the deeds they do. ||7||

ਜਉ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥੮॥੧॥
जउ भइओ क्रिपालु ता साधसंगु पाइआ जन नानक ब्रहमु धिआइओ ॥८॥१॥
Ja▫o bʰa▫i▫o kirpaal ṫaa saaḋʰsang paa▫i▫aa jan Naanak barahm ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫o. ||8||1||
When He becomes Merciful, then the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is found; servant Nanak meditates on God. ||8||1||

ਕਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
करि अनुग्रहु राखि लीनो भइओ साधू संगु ॥
Kar anoograhu raakʰ leeno bʰa▫i▫o saaḋʰoo sang.
Granting His Grace, He has protected me; I have found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਉਚਾਰੈ ਮਿਸਟ ਗੂੜਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
हरि नाम रसु रसना उचारै मिसट गूड़ा रंगु ॥१॥
Har naam ras rasnaa uchaaré misat gooṛaa rang. ||1||
My tongue lovingly chants the Lord’s Name; this love is so sweet and intense! ||1||
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਨ ਕੋ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥
मेरे मान को असथानु ॥
Méré maan ko asṫʰaan.
He is the place of rest for my mind,
|
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਖਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मीत साजन सखा बंधपु अंतरजामी जानु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Meeṫ saajan sakʰaa banḋʰap anṫarjaamee jaan. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
my friend, companion, associate and relative; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||1||Pause||

ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਗਹੀ ॥
संसार सागरु जिनि उपाइओ सरणि प्रभ की गही ॥
Sansaar saagar jin upaa▫i▫o saraṇ parabʰ kee gahee.
He created the world-ocean; I seek the Sanctuary of that God.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥੨॥
गुर प्रसादी प्रभु अराधे जमकंकरु किछु न कही ॥२॥
Gur parsaadee parabʰ araaḋʰé jamkankar kichʰ na kahee. ||2||
By Guru’s Grace, I worship and adore God; the Messenger of Death can’t say anything to me. ||2||
|
ਮੋਖ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਤ ਰਿਦਾ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
मोख मुकति दुआरि जा कै संत रिदा भंडारु ॥
Mokʰ mukaṫ ḋu▫aar jaa kæ sanṫ riḋaa bʰandaar.
Emancipation and liberation are at His Door; He is the treasure in the hearts of the Saints.

ਜੀਅ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
जीअ जुगति सुजाणु सुआमी सदा राखणहारु ॥३॥
Jee▫a jugaṫ sujaaṇ su▫aamee saḋaa raakʰaṇhaar. ||3||
The all-knowing Lord and Master shows us the true way of life; He is our Savior and Protector forever. ||3||
|
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਲੇਸ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
दूख दरद कलेस बिनसहि जिसु बसै मन माहि ॥
Ḋookʰ ḋaraḋ kalés binsahi jis basæ man maahi.
Pain, suffering and troubles are eradicated, when the Lord abides in the mind.

ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨਰਕੁ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
मिरतु नरकु असथान बिखड़े बिखु न पोहै ताहि ॥४॥
Miraṫ narak asṫʰaan bikʰ▫ṛé bikʰ na pohæ ṫaahi. ||4||
Death, hell and the most horrible dwelling of sin and corruption cannot even touch such a person. ||4||
|
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਪਰਵਾਹ ॥
रिधि सिधि नव निधि जा कै अमृता परवाह ॥
Riḋʰ siḋʰ nav niḋʰ jaa kæ amriṫaa parvaah.
Wealth, miraculous spiritual powers and the nine treasures come from the Lord, as do the streams of Ambrosial Nectar.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਮਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹ ॥੫॥
आदि अंते मधि पूरन ऊच अगम अगाह ॥५॥
Aaḋ anṫé maḋʰ pooran ooch agam agaah. ||5||
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, He is perfect, lofty, unapproachable and unfathomable. ||5||
|
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਦੇਵ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਬੇਦ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਚਾਰੁ ॥
सिध साधिक देव मुनि जन बेद करहि उचारु ॥
Siḋʰ saaḋʰik ḋév mun jan béḋ karahi uchaar.
The Siddhas, seekers, angelic beings, silent sages, and the Vedas speak of Him.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਭੁੰਚਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
सिमरि सुआमी सुख सहजि भुंचहि नही अंतु पारावारु ॥६॥
Simar su▫aamee sukʰ sahj bʰuⁿchėh nahee anṫ paaraavaar. ||6||
Meditating in remembrance of the Lord and Master, celestial peace is enjoyed; He has no end or limitation. ||6||

ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਛਤ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਪਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
अनिक प्राछत मिटहि खिन महि रिदै जपि भगवान ॥
Anik paraachʰaṫ mitėh kʰin mėh riḋæ jap bʰagvaan.
Countless sins are erased in an instant, meditating on the Benevolent Lord within the heart.

ਪਾਵਨਾ ਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਪਾਵਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਦਾਨ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥੭॥
पावना ते महा पावन कोटि दान इसनान ॥७॥
Paavnaa ṫé mahaa paavan kot ḋaan isnaan. ||7||
Such a person becomes the purest of the pure, and is blessed with the merits of millions of donations to charity and cleansing baths. ||7||
|
ਬਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਪਰਾਣ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
बल बुधि सुधि पराण सरबसु संतना की रासि ॥
Bal buḋʰ suḋʰ paraaṇ sarbas sanṫnaa kee raas.
God is power, intellect, understanding, the breath of life, wealth, and everything for the Saints.

ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੮॥੨॥
बिसरु नाही निमख मन ते नानक की अरदासि ॥८॥२॥
Bisar naahee nimakʰ man ṫé Naanak kee arḋaas. ||8||2||
May I never forget Him from my mind, even for an instant - this is Nanak’s prayer. ||8||2||

ਸਸਤ੍ਰਿ ਤੀਖਣਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੋਸੁ ॥
ससत्रि तीखणि काटि डारिओ मनि न कीनो रोसु ॥
Sasṫar ṫeekʰaṇ kaat ḋaari▫o man na keeno ros.
The sharp tool cuts down the tree, but it does not feel anger in its mind.

ਕਾਜੁ ਉਆ ਕੋ ਲੇ ਸਵਾਰਿਓ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਦੀਨੋ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੧॥
काजु उआ को ले सवारिओ तिलु न दीनो दोसु ॥१॥
Kaaj u▫aa ko lé savaari▫o ṫil na ḋeeno ḋos. ||1||
It serves the purpose of the cutter, and does not blame him at all. ||1||
|
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥
मन मेरे राम रउ नित नीति ॥
Man méré raam ra▫o niṫ neeṫ.
O my mind! Continually, continuously, meditate on the Lord.

ਦਇਆਲ ਦੇਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दइआल देव क्रिपाल गोबिंद सुनि संतना की रीति ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḋa▫i▫aal ḋév kirpaal gobinḋ sun sanṫnaa kee reeṫ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Lord of the Universe is merciful, divine and compassionate. Listen - this is the way of the Saints. ||1||Pause||
