ਗੰਗਾ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਕੇਲ ਕੇਦਾਰਾ ॥
गंगा जमुना केल केदारा ॥
Gangaa jamunaa kél kéḋaaraa.
The Ganges, the Jamuna where Krishna played, Kedarnath,
|
ਕਾਸੀ ਕਾਂਤੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
कासी कांती पुरी दुआरा ॥
Kaasee kaaⁿṫee puree ḋu▫aaraa.
Benares, Kanchivaram, Puri, Dwaarkaa,
|
ਗੰਗਾ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਬੇਣੀ ਸੰਗਮੁ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
गंगा सागरु बेणी संगमु अठसठि अंकि समाई हे ॥९॥
Gangaa saagar béṇee sangam atʰsatʰ ank samaa▫ee hé. ||9||
Ganga Saagar where the Ganges empties into the ocean, Trivaynee where the three rivers come together, and the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, are all merged in the Lord’s Being. ||9||
|
ਆਪੇ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
आपे सिध साधिकु वीचारी ॥
Aapé siḋʰ saaḋʰik veechaaree.
He Himself is the Siddha, the seeker, in meditative contemplation.

ਆਪੇ ਰਾਜਨੁ ਪੰਚਾ ਕਾਰੀ ॥
आपे राजनु पंचा कारी ॥
Aapé raajan panchaa kaaree.
He Himself is the King and the Council.
|
ਤਖਤਿ ਬਹੈ ਅਦਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਭਉ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
तखति बहै अदली प्रभु आपे भरमु भेदु भउ जाई हे ॥१०॥
Ṫakʰaṫ bahæ aḋlee parabʰ aapé bʰaram bʰéḋ bʰa▫o jaa▫ee hé. ||10||
God Himself, the wise Judge, sits on the throne; He takes away doubt, duality and fear. ||10||

ਆਪੇ ਕਾਜੀ ਆਪੇ ਮੁਲਾ ॥
आपे काजी आपे मुला ॥
Aapé kaajee aapé mulaa.
He Himself is the Qazi; He Himself is the Mullah.
|
ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਭੁਲਾ ॥
आपि अभुलु न कबहू भुला ॥
Aap abʰul na kabhoo bʰulaa.
He Himself is infallible; He never makes mistakes.
|
ਆਪੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਇਆਪਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੋ ਬੈਰਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
आपे मिहर दइआपति दाता ना किसै को बैराई हे ॥११॥
Aapé mihar ḋa▫i▫aapaṫ ḋaaṫaa naa kisæ ko bæraa▫ee hé. ||11||
He Himself is the Giver of Grace, compassion and honor; He is no one’s enemy. ||11||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
जिसु बखसे तिसु दे वडिआई ॥
Jis bakʰsé ṫis ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee.
Whoever He forgives, He blesses with glorious greatness.

ਸਭਸੈ ਦਾਤਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਈ ॥
सभसै दाता तिलु न तमाई ॥
Sabʰsæ ḋaaṫaa ṫil na ṫamaa▫ee.
He is the Giver of all; He does not have even an iota of greed.

ਭਰਪੁਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
भरपुरि धारि रहिआ निहकेवलु गुपतु प्रगटु सभ ठाई हे ॥१२॥
Bʰarpur ḋʰaar rahi▫aa nihkéval gupaṫ pargat sabʰ tʰaa▫ee hé. ||12||
The Immaculate Lord is all pervading, permeating everywhere, both hidden and manifest. ||12||
|
ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੈ ॥
किआ सालाही अगम अपारै ॥
Ki▫aa saalaahee agam apaaræ.
How can I praise the inaccessible, infinite Lord?
|
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਮੁਰਾਰੈ ॥
साचे सिरजणहार मुरारै ॥
Saaché sirjaṇhaar muraaræ.
The True Creator Lord is the Enemy of ego.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
जिस नो नदरि करे तिसु मेले मेलि मिलै मेलाई हे ॥१३॥
Jis no naḋar karé ṫis mélé mél milæ mélaa▫ee hé. ||13||
He unites those whom He blesses with His Grace; uniting them in His Union, they are united. ||13||
|
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸੁ ਦੁਆਰੈ ॥
ब्रहमा बिसनु महेसु दुआरै ॥
Barahmaa bisan mahés ḋu▫aaræ.
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva stand at His Door;
|
ਊਭੇ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੈ ॥
ऊभे सेवहि अलख अपारै ॥
Oobʰé sévėh alakʰ apaaræ.
they serve the unseen, infinite Lord.
|
ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਦਰਿ ਦੀਸੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੀ ਮੈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
होर केती दरि दीसै बिललादी मै गणत न आवै काई हे ॥१४॥
Hor kéṫee ḋar ḋeesæ billaaḋee mæ gaṇaṫ na aavæ kaa▫ee hé. ||14||
Millions of others can be seen crying at His door; I cannot even estimate their numbers. ||14||
|
ਸਾਚੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
साची कीरति साची बाणी ॥
Saachee keeraṫ saachee baṇee.
True is the Kirtan of His Praise, and True is the Word of His Bani.
|
ਹੋਰ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ॥
होर न दीसै बेद पुराणी ॥
Hor na ḋeesæ béḋ puraaṇee.
I can see no other in the Vedas and the Puranas.
|
ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਹੋਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
पूंजी साचु सचे गुण गावा मै धर होर न काई हे ॥१५॥
Poonjee saach saché guṇ gaavaa mæ ḋʰar hor na kaa▫ee hé. ||15||
Truth is my capital; I sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. I have no other support at all. ||15||

ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
जुगु जुगु साचा है भी होसी ॥
Jug jug saachaa hæ bʰee hosee.
In each and every age, the True Lord is, and shall always be.

ਕਉਣੁ ਨ ਮੂਆ ਕਉਣੁ ਨ ਮਰਸੀ ॥
कउणु न मूआ कउणु न मरसी ॥
Ka▫uṇ na moo▫aa ka▫uṇ na marsee.
Who has not died? Who shall not die?
|
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਦਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੨॥
नानकु नीचु कहै बेनंती दरि देखहु लिव लाई हे ॥१६॥२॥
Naanak neech kahæ bénanṫee ḋar ḋékʰhu liv laa▫ee hé. ||16||2||
Nanak the lowly offers this prayer; see Him within your own self, and lovingly focus on the Lord. ||16||2||

ਦੂਜੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅੰਨੀ ਬੋਲੀ ॥
दूजी दुरमति अंनी बोली ॥
Ḋoojee ḋurmaṫ annee bolee.
In duality and evil-mindedness, the soul-bride is blind and deaf.
|
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀ ਕਚੀ ਚੋਲੀ ॥
काम क्रोध की कची चोली ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ kee kachee cholee.
She wears the dress of sexual desire and anger.
|
ਘਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਛੋਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
घरि वरु सहजु न जाणै छोहरि बिनु पिर नीद न पाई हे ॥१॥
Gʰar var sahj na jaaṇæ chʰohar bin pir neeḋ na paa▫ee hé. ||1||
Her Husband Lord is within the home of her own heart, but she does not know Him; without her Husband Lord, she cannot go to sleep. ||1||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲੈ ਭੜਕਾਰੇ ॥
अंतरि अगनि जलै भड़कारे ॥
Anṫar agan jalæ bʰatkaaré.
The great fire of desire blazes within her.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਤਕੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
मनमुखु तके कुंडा चारे ॥
Manmukʰ ṫaké kundaa chaaré.
The self-willed Manmukh looks around in the four directions.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚੇ ਹਾਥਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे किउ सुखु पाईऐ साचे हाथि वडाई हे ॥२॥
Bin saṫgur sévé ki▫o sukʰ paa▫ee▫æ saaché haaṫʰ vadaa▫ee hé. ||2||
Without serving the True Guru, how can she find peace? Glorious greatness rests in the hands of the True Lord. ||2||
|
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
कामु क्रोधु अहंकारु निवारे ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ ahaⁿkaar nivaaré.
Eradicating sexual desire, anger and egotism,
|
ਤਸਕਰ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
तसकर पंच सबदि संघारे ॥
Ṫaskar panch sabaḋ sangʰaaré.
she destroys the five thieves through the Word of the Shabad.
|
ਗਿਆਨ ਖੜਗੁ ਲੈ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਲੂਝੈ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
गिआन खड़गु लै मन सिउ लूझै मनसा मनहि समाई हे ॥३॥
Gi▫aan kʰaṛag læ man si▫o loojʰæ mansaa manėh samaa▫ee hé. ||3||
Taking up the sword of spiritual wisdom, she struggles with her mind, and hope and desire are smoothed over in her mind. ||3||
|
ਮਾ ਕੀ ਰਕਤੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਿਦੁ ਧਾਰਾ ॥
मा की रकतु पिता बिदु धारा ॥
Maa kee rakaṫ piṫaa biḋ ḋʰaaraa.
From the union of the mother’s egg and the father’s sperm,
|
ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸੂਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਪਾਰਾ ॥
मूरति सूरति करि आपारा ॥
Mooraṫ sooraṫ kar aapaaraa.
the form of infinite beauty has been created.
|
ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਜੇਤੀ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
जोति दाति जेती सभ तेरी तू करता सभ ठाई हे ॥४॥
Joṫ ḋaaṫ jéṫee sabʰ ṫéree ṫoo karṫaa sabʰ tʰaa▫ee hé. ||4||
The blessings of light all come from You; You are the Creator Lord, pervading everywhere. ||4||
|
ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣਾ ॥
तुझ ही कीआ जंमण मरणा ॥
Ṫujʰ hee kee▫aa jamaṇ marṇaa.
You have created birth and death.
|
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਪੜੀ ਕਿਆ ਡਰਣਾ ॥
गुर ते समझ पड़ी किआ डरणा ॥
Gur ṫé samajʰ paṛee ki▫aa darṇaa.
Why should anyone fear, if they come to understand through the Guru?
|
ਤੂ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਸਰੀਰਹੁ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
तू दइआलु दइआ करि देखहि दुखु दरदु सरीरहु जाई हे ॥५॥
Ṫoo ḋa▫i▫aal ḋa▫i▫aa kar ḋékʰėh ḋukʰ ḋaraḋ sareerahu jaa▫ee hé. ||5||
When You, O Merciful Lord, look with Your kindness, then pain and suffering leave the body. ||5||
|
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਭਉ ਖਾਇਆ ॥
निज घरि बैसि रहे भउ खाइआ ॥
Nij gʰar bæs rahé bʰa▫o kʰaa▫i▫aa.
One who sits in the home of his own self, eats his own fears.
|
ਧਾਵਤ ਰਾਖੇ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥
धावत राखे ठाकि रहाइआ ॥
Ḋʰaavaṫ raakʰé tʰaak rahaa▫i▫aa.
He quiets and holds his wandering mind still.

ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸ ਹਰੇ ਸਰ ਸੁਭਰ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
कमल बिगास हरे सर सुभर आतम रामु सखाई हे ॥६॥
Kamal bigaas haré sar subʰar aaṫam raam sakʰaa▫ee hé. ||6||
His heart-lotus blossoms forth in the overflowing green pool, and the Lord of his soul becomes his companion and helper. ||6||
|
ਮਰਣੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਆਏ ॥
मरणु लिखाइ मंडल महि आए ॥
Maraṇ likʰaa▫é mandal mėh aa▫é.
With their death already ordained, mortals come into this world.
|
ਕਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ਚਲਣਾ ਪਰਥਾਏ ॥
किउ रहीऐ चलणा परथाए ॥
Ki▫o rahee▫æ chalṇaa parṫʰaa▫é.
How can they remain here? They have to go to the world beyond.
|
ਸਚਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚੇ ਅਮਰਾ ਪੁਰਿ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
सचा अमरु सचे अमरा पुरि सो सचु मिलै वडाई हे ॥७॥
Sachaa amar saché amraa pur so sach milæ vadaa▫ee hé. ||7||
True is the Lord’s Command; the true ones dwell in the eternal city. The True Lord blesses them with glorious greatness. ||7||
|
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
आपि उपाइआ जगतु सबाइआ ॥
Aap upaa▫i▫aa jagaṫ sabaa▫i▫aa.
He Himself created the whole world.
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
जिनि सिरिआ तिनि धंधै लाइआ ॥
Jin siri▫aa ṫin ḋʰanḋʰæ laa▫i▫aa.
The One who made it, assigns the tasks to it.
