ਹਰਾਮਖੋਰ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਕਉ ਤੂਠਾ ॥
हरामखोर निरगुण कउ तूठा ॥
Haraamkʰor nirguṇ ka▫o ṫootʰaa.
I am unworthy and ungrateful, but He has been merciful to me.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੂਠਾ ॥
मनु तनु सीतलु मनि अमृतु वूठा ॥
Man ṫan seeṫal man amriṫ vootʰaa.
My mind and body have been cooled and soothed; the Ambrosial Nectar rains down in my mind.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
पारब्रहम गुर भए दइआला ॥
Paarbarahm gur bʰa▫é ḋa▫i▫aalaa.
The Supreme Lord God, the Guru, has become kind and compassionate to me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੩॥
नानक दास देखि भए निहाला ॥४॥१०॥२३॥
Naanak ḋaas ḋékʰ bʰa▫é nihaalaa. ||4||10||23||
Slave Nanak beholds the Lord, enraptured. ||4||10||23||

Saṫgur méraa bémuhṫaaj.
My True Guru is totally independent.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਜੁ ॥
सतिगुर मेरे सचा साजु ॥
Saṫgur méré sachaa saaj.
My True Guru is adorned with Truth.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭਸ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
सतिगुरु मेरा सभस का दाता ॥
Saṫgur méraa sabʰas kaa ḋaaṫaa.
My True Guru is the Giver of all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
सतिगुरु मेरा पुरखु बिधाता ॥१॥
Saṫgur méraa purakʰ biḋʰaaṫaa. ||1||
My True Guru is the Primal Creator Lord, the Architect of Destiny. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰ ਜੈਸਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਦੇਵ ॥
गुर जैसा नाही को देव ॥
Gur jæsaa naahee ko ḋév.
There is no deity equal to the Guru.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਸੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिसु मसतकि भागु सु लागा सेव ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jis masṫak bʰaag so laagaa sév. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Whoever has good destiny inscribed on his forehead, applies himself to seva - selfless service. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ॥
सतिगुरु मेरा सरब प्रतिपालै ॥
Saṫgur méraa sarab paraṫipaalæ.
My True Guru is the Sustainer and Cherisher of all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੈ ॥
सतिगुरु मेरा मारि जीवालै ॥
Saṫgur méraa maar jeevaalæ.
My True Guru kills and revives.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
सतिगुर मेरे की वडिआई ॥
Saṫgur méré kee vadi▫aa▫ee.
The glorious greatness of my True Guru,

ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥੨॥
प्रगटु भई है सभनी थाई ॥२॥
Pargat bʰa▫ee hæ sabʰnee ṫʰaa▫ee. ||2||
has become manifest everywhere. ||2||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਨਿਤਾਣੁ ॥
सतिगुरु मेरा ताणु निताणु ॥
Saṫgur méraa ṫaaṇ niṫaaṇ.
My True Guru is the power of the powerless.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
सतिगुरु मेरा घरि दीबाणु ॥
Saṫgur méraa gʰar ḋeebaaṇ.
My True Guru is my home and court.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
सतिगुर कै हउ सद बलि जाइआ ॥
Saṫgur kæ ha▫o saḋ bal jaa▫i▫aa.
I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru.

ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
प्रगटु मारगु जिनि करि दिखलाइआ ॥३॥
Pargat maarag jin kar ḋikʰlaa▫i▫aa. ||3||
He has shown me the path. ||3||
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
जिनि गुरु सेविआ तिसु भउ न बिआपै ॥
Jin gur sévi▫aa ṫis bʰa▫o na bi▫aapæ.
One who serves the Guru is not afflicted with fear.

ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
जिनि गुरु सेविआ तिसु दुखु न संतापै ॥
Jin gur sévi▫aa ṫis ḋukʰ na sanṫaapæ.
One who serves the Guru does not suffer with pain.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਧੇ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ॥
नानक सोधे सिंम्रिति बेद ॥
Naanak soḋʰé simriṫ béḋ.
Nanak has studied the Smritis and the Vedas.
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੇਦ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੪॥
पारब्रहम गुर नाही भेद ॥४॥११॥२४॥
Paarbarahm gur naahee bʰéḋ. ||4||11||24||
There is no difference between the Supreme Lord God and the Guru. ||4||11||24||

Naam læṫ man pargat bʰa▫i▫aa.
Repeating the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mortal is exalted and glorified.

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪਾਪੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਗਇਆ ॥
नामु लैत पापु तन ते गइआ ॥
Naam læṫ paap ṫan ṫé ga▫i▫aa.
Repeating the Naam, sin is banished from the body.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਸਗਲ ਪੁਰਬਾਇਆ ॥
नामु लैत सगल पुरबाइआ ॥
Naam læṫ sagal purbaa▫i▫aa.
Repeating the Naam, all festivals are celebrated.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
नामु लैत अठसठि मजनाइआ ॥१॥
Naam læṫ atʰsatʰ majnaa▫i▫aa. ||1||
Repeating the Naam, one is cleansed at the sixty-eight sacred shrines. ||1||
|
ਤੀਰਥੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
तीरथु हमरा हरि को नामु ॥
Ṫiraṫʰ hamraa har ko naam.
My sacred shrine of pilgrimage is the Name of the Lord.
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरि उपदेसिआ ततु गिआनु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur upḋési▫aa ṫaṫ gi▫aan. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Guru has instructed me in the true essence of spiritual wisdom. ||1||Pause||

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
नामु लैत दुखु दूरि पराना ॥
Naam læṫ ḋukʰ ḋoor paraanaa.
Repeating the Naam, the mortal’s pains are taken away.

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਅਤਿ ਮੂੜ ਸੁਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
नामु लैत अति मूड़ सुगिआना ॥
Naam læṫ aṫ mooṛ sugi▫aanaa.
Repeating the Naam, the most ignorant people become spiritual teachers.

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪਰਗਟਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
नामु लैत परगटि उजीआरा ॥
Naam læṫ pargat ujee▫aaraa.
Repeating the Naam, the Divine Light blazes forth.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਛੁਟੇ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
नामु लैत छुटे जंजारा ॥२॥
Naam læṫ chʰuté janjaaraa. ||2||
Repeating the Naam, one’s bonds are broken. ||2||
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
नामु लैत जमु नेड़ि न आवै ॥
Naam læṫ jam néṛ na aavæ.
Repeating the Naam, the Messenger of Death does not draw near.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
नामु लैत दरगह सुखु पावै ॥
Naam læṫ ḋargėh sukʰ paavæ.
Repeating the Naam, one finds peace in the Court of the Lord.

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
नामु लैत प्रभु कहै साबासि ॥
Naam læṫ parabʰ kahæ saabaas.
Repeating the Naam, God gives His Approval.

ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
नामु हमारी साची रासि ॥३॥
Naam hamaaree saachee raas. ||3||
The Naam is my true wealth. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਹਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
गुरि उपदेसु कहिओ इहु सारु ॥
Gur upḋés kahi▫o ih saar.
The Guru has instructed me in these sublime teachings.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
हरि कीरति मन नामु अधारु ॥
Har keeraṫ man naam aḋʰaar.
The Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises and the Naam are the Support of the mind.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਪੁਨਹਚਾਰ ॥
नानक उधरे नाम पुनहचार ॥
Naanak uḋʰré naam punahchaar.
Nanak is saved through the atonement of the Naam.
|
ਅਵਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਲੋਕਹ ਪਤੀਆਰ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੫॥
अवरि करम लोकह पतीआर ॥४॥१२॥२५॥
Avar karam lokah paṫee▫aar. ||4||12||25||
Other actions are just to please and appease the people. ||4||12||25||

ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਲਖ ਬਾਰ ॥
नमसकार ता कउ लख बार ॥
Namaskaar ṫaa ka▫o lakʰ baar.
I bow in humble worship, tens of thousands of times.
|
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿ ॥
इहु मनु दीजै ता कउ वारि ॥
Ih man ḋeejæ ṫaa ka▫o vaar.
I offer this mind as a sacrifice.
|
ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
सिमरनि ता कै मिटहि संताप ॥
Simran ṫaa kæ mitėh sanṫaap.
Meditating in remembrance of Him, sufferings are erased.

ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪਹਿ ਤਾਪ ॥੧॥
होइ अनंदु न विआपहि ताप ॥१॥
Ho▫é anand na vi▫aapahi ṫaap. ||1||
Bliss wells up, and no disease is contracted. ||1||
|
ਐਸੋ ਹੀਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮ ॥
ऐसो हीरा निरमल नाम ॥
Æso heeraa nirmal naam.
Such is the diamond, the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord.
|
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जासु जपत पूरन सभि काम ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jaas japaṫ pooran sabʰ kaam. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Chanting it, all works are perfectly completed. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦੁਖ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਹੈ ॥
जा की द्रिसटि दुख डेरा ढहै ॥
Jaa kee ḋarisat ḋukʰ déraa dʰahæ.
Beholding Him, the house of pain is demolished.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਗਹੈ ॥
अमृत नामु सीतलु मनि गहै ॥
Amriṫ naam seeṫal man gahæ.
The mind seizes the cooling, soothing, Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam.

ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜਾਰੀ ॥
अनिक भगत जा के चरन पूजारी ॥
Anik bʰagaṫ jaa ké charan poojaaree.
Millions of devotees worship His Feet.

ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
सगल मनोरथ पूरनहारी ॥२॥
Sagal manoraṫʰ pooranhaaree. ||2||
He is the Fulfiller of all the mind’s desires. ||2||
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿਆ ॥
खिन महि ऊणे सुभर भरिआ ॥
Kʰin mėh ooṇé subʰar bʰari▫aa.
In an instant, He fills the empty to overflowing.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਕੇ ਕੀਨੇ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
खिन महि सूके कीने हरिआ ॥
Kʰin mėh sooké keené hari▫aa.
In an instant, He transforms the dry into green.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
खिन महि निथावे कउ दीनो थानु ॥
Kʰin mėh niṫʰaavé ka▫o ḋeeno ṫʰaan.
In an instant, He gives the homeless a home.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
खिन महि निमाणे कउ दीनो मानु ॥३॥
Kʰin mėh nimaaṇé ka▫o ḋeeno maan. ||3||
In an instant, He bestows honor on the dishonored. ||3||
