ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
मनसा मारि सचि समाणी ॥
Mansaa maar sach samaaṇee.
Subduing their desires, they merge with the True One;

ਇਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਡੀਠੀ ਸਭ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
इनि मनि डीठी सभ आवण जाणी ॥
In man deetʰee sabʰ aavaṇ jaaṇee.
they see in their minds that everyone comes and goes in reincarnation.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
सतिगुरु सेवे सदा मनु निहचलु निज घरि वासा पावणिआ ॥३॥
Saṫgur sévé saḋaa man nihchal nij gʰar vaasaa paavṇi▫aa. ||3||
Serving the True Guru, they become stable forever, and they obtain their dwelling in the home of the self. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
गुर कै सबदि रिदै दिखाइआ ॥
Gur kæ sabaḋ riḋæ ḋikʰaa▫i▫aa.
Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the Lord is seen within one’s own heart.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥
माइआ मोहु सबदि जलाइआ ॥
Maa▫i▫aa moh sabaḋ jalaa▫i▫aa.
Through the Shabad, I have burned my emotional attachment to Maya.

ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
सचो सचा वेखि सालाही गुर सबदी सचु पावणिआ ॥४॥
Sacho sachaa vékʰ saalaahee gur sabḋee sach paavṇi▫aa. ||4||
I gaze upon the Truest of the True, and I praise Him. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, I obtain the True One. ||4||
|
ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
जो सचि राते तिन सची लिव लागी ॥
Jo sach raaṫé ṫin sachee liv laagee.
Those who are attuned to Truth are blessed with the Love of the True One.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
हरि नामु समालहि से वडभागी ॥
Har naam samaalėh sé vadbʰaagee.
Those who praise the Lord’s Name are very fortunate.

ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
सचै सबदि आपि मिलाए सतसंगति सचु गुण गावणिआ ॥५॥
Sachæ sabaḋ aap milaa▫é saṫsangaṫ sach guṇ gaavaṇi▫aa. ||5||
Through the Word of His Shabad, the True One blends with Himself, those who join the True Congregation and sing the Glorious Praises of the True One. ||5||
|
ਲੇਖਾ ਪੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
लेखा पड़ीऐ जे लेखे विचि होवै ॥
Lékʰaa paṛee▫æ jé lékʰé vich hovæ.
We could read the account of the Lord, if He were in any account.

ਓਹੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
ओहु अगमु अगोचरु सबदि सुधि होवै ॥
Oh agam agochar sabaḋ suḋʰ hovæ.
He is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible; through the Shabad, understanding is obtained.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
अनदिनु सच सबदि सालाही होरु कोइ न कीमति पावणिआ ॥६॥
An▫ḋin sach sabaḋ saalaahee hor ko▫é na keemaṫ paavṇi▫aa. ||6||
Night and day, praise the True Word of the Shabad. There is no other way to know His Worth. ||6||
|
ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
पड़ि पड़ि थाके सांति न आई ॥
Paṛ paṛ ṫʰaaké saaⁿṫ na aa▫ee.
People read and recite until they grow weary, but they do not find peace.
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਲੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
त्रिसना जाले सुधि न काई ॥
Ṫarisnaa jaalé suḋʰ na kaa▫ee.
Consumed by desire, they have no understanding at all.

ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਹਾਝਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
बिखु बिहाझहि बिखु मोह पिआसे कूड़ु बोलि बिखु खावणिआ ॥७॥
Bikʰ bihaajʰėh bikʰ moh pi▫aasé kooṛ bol bikʰ kʰaavaṇi▫aa. ||7||
They purchase poison, and they are thirsty with their fascination for poison. Telling lies, they eat poison. ||7||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
गुर परसादी एको जाणा ॥
Gur parsaadee éko jaaṇaa.
By Guru’s Grace, I know the One.
|
ਦੂਜਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
दूजा मारि मनु सचि समाणा ॥
Ḋoojaa maar man sach samaaṇaa.
Subduing my sense of duality, my mind is absorbed into the True One.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੭॥੧੮॥
नानक एको नामु वरतै मन अंतरि गुर परसादी पावणिआ ॥८॥१७॥१८॥
Naanak éko naam varṫæ man anṫar gur parsaadee paavṇi▫aa. ||8||17||18||
O Nanak! The One Name is pervading deep within my mind; by Guru’s Grace, I receive it. ||8||17||18||

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
माझ महला ३ ॥
Maajʰ mėhlaa 3.
Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਵਰਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
वरन रूप वरतहि सभ तेरे ॥
varan roop varṫėh sabʰ ṫéré.
In all colors and forms, You are pervading.
|
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਫੇਰ ਪਵਹਿ ਘਣੇਰੇ ॥
मरि मरि जंमहि फेर पवहि घणेरे ॥
Mar mar jamėh fér pavėh gʰaṇéré.
People die over and over again; they are re-born, and make their rounds on the wheel of reincarnation.

ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
तूं एको निहचलु अगम अपारा गुरमती बूझ बुझावणिआ ॥१॥
Ṫooⁿ éko nihchal agam apaaraa gurmaṫee boojʰ bujʰaavaṇi▫aa. ||1||
You alone are Eternal and Unchanging, Inaccessible and Infinite. Through the Guru’s Teachings, understanding is imparted. ||1||
|
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
हउ वारी जीउ वारी राम नामु मंनि वसावणिआ ॥
Ha▫o vaaree jee▫o vaaree raam naam man vasaavaṇi▫aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Lord’s Name in their minds.

ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਵਰਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तिसु रूपु न रेखिआ वरनु न कोई गुरमती आपि बुझावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ṫis roop na rékʰ▫i▫aa varan na ko▫ee gurmaṫee aap bujʰaavaṇi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Lord has no form, features or color. Through the Guru’s Teachings, He inspires us to understand Him. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ॥
सभ एका जोति जाणै जे कोई ॥
Sabʰ ékaa joṫ jaaṇæ jé ko▫ee.
The One Light is all-pervading; only a few know this.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
सतिगुरु सेविऐ परगटु होई ॥
Saṫgur sévi▫æ pargat ho▫ee.
Serving the True Guru, this is revealed.
|
ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
गुपतु परगटु वरतै सभ थाई जोती जोति मिलावणिआ ॥२॥
Gupaṫ pargat varṫæ sabʰ ṫʰaa▫ee joṫee joṫ milaavaṇi▫aa. ||2||
In the hidden and in the obvious, He is pervading all places. Our light merges into the Light. ||2||
|
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
तिसना अगनि जलै संसारा ॥
Ṫisnaa agan jalæ sansaaraa.
The world is burning in the fire of desire,
|
ਲੋਭੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
लोभु अभिमानु बहुतु अहंकारा ॥
Lobʰ abʰimaan bahuṫ ahaⁿkaaraa.
in greed, arrogance and excessive ego.
|
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਏ ਅਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
मरि मरि जनमै पति गवाए अपणी बिरथा जनमु गवावणिआ ॥३॥
Mar mar janmæ paṫ gavaa▫é apṇee birṫʰaa janam gavaavṇi▫aa. ||3||
People die over and over again; they are re-born, and lose their honor. They waste away their lives in vain. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
गुर का सबदु को विरला बूझै ॥
Gur kaa sabaḋ ko virlaa boojʰæ.
Those who understand the Word of the Guru’s Shabad are very rare.
|
ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
आपु मारे ता त्रिभवणु सूझै ॥
Aap maaré ṫaa ṫaribʰavaṇ soojʰæ.
Those who subdue their egotism, come to know the three worlds.
|
ਫਿਰਿ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
फिरि ओहु मरै न मरणा होवै सहजे सचि समावणिआ ॥४॥
Fir oh maræ na marṇaa hovæ sėhjé sach samaavaṇi▫aa. ||4||
Then, they die, never to die again. They are intuitively absorbed in the True One. ||4||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
माइआ महि फिरि चितु न लाए ॥
Maa▫i▫aa mėh fir chiṫ na laa▫é.
They do not focus their consciousness on Maya again.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
गुर कै सबदि सद रहै समाए ॥
Gur kæ sabaḋ saḋ rahæ samaa▫é.
They remain absorbed forever in the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
सचु सलाहे सभ घट अंतरि सचो सचु सुहावणिआ ॥५॥
Sach salaahé sabʰ gʰat anṫar sacho sach suhaavaṇi▫aa. ||5||
They praise the True One, who is contained deep within all hearts. They are blessed and exalted by the Truest of the True. ||5||
|
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥
सचु सालाही सदा हजूरे ॥
Sach saalaahee saḋaa hajooré.
Praise the True One, who is Ever-present.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
गुर कै सबदि रहिआ भरपूरे ॥
Gur kæ sabaḋ rahi▫aa bʰarpooré.
Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, He is pervading everywhere.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
गुर परसादी सचु नदरी आवै सचे ही सुखु पावणिआ ॥६॥
Gur parsaadee sach naḋree aavæ saché hee sukʰ paavṇi▫aa. ||6||
By Guru’s Grace, we come to behold the True One; from the True One, peace is obtained. ||6||
|
ਸਚੁ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
सचु मन अंदरि रहिआ समाइ ॥
Sach man anḋar rahi▫aa samaa▫é.
The True One permeates and pervades the mind within.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
सदा सचु निहचलु आवै न जाइ ॥
Saḋaa sach nihchal aavæ na jaa▫é.
The True One is Eternal and Unchanging; He does not come and go in reincarnation.

ਸਚੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
सचे लागै सो मनु निरमलु गुरमती सचि समावणिआ ॥७॥
Saché laagæ so man nirmal gurmaṫee sach samaavaṇi▫aa. ||7||
Those who are attached to the True One are immaculate and pure. Through the Guru’s Teachings, they merge in the True One. ||7||
|
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
सचु सालाही अवरु न कोई ॥
Sach saalaahee avar na ko▫ee.
Praise the True One, and no other.
|
ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
जितु सेविऐ सदा सुखु होई ॥
Jiṫ sévi▫æ saḋaa sukʰ ho▫ee.
Serving Him, eternal peace is obtained.
