ਇਸੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
इसु कलिजुग महि करम धरमु न कोई ॥
Is kalijug mėh karam ḋʰaram na ko▫ee.
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, no one is interested in good karma, or Dharmic faith.

ਕਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਚੰਡਾਲ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
कली का जनमु चंडाल कै घरि होई ॥
Kalee kaa janam chandaal kæ gʰar ho▫ee.
This Dark Age was born in the house of evil.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੩੦॥
नानक नाम बिना को मुकति न होई ॥४॥१०॥३०॥
Naanak naam binaa ko mukaṫ na ho▫ee. ||4||10||30||
O Nanak! Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one is liberated. ||4||10||30||

Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 3 gu▫aaréree.

ਸਚਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥
सचा अमरु सचा पातिसाहु ॥
Sachaa amar sachaa paaṫisaahu.
True is the Lord King, True is His Royal Command.
|
ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥
मनि साचै राते हरि वेपरवाहु ॥
Man saachæ raaṫé har véparvaahu.
Those whose minds are attuned to the True, Carefree Lord,
|
ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹੁ ॥੧॥
सचै महलि सचि नामि समाहु ॥१॥
Sachæ mahal sach naam samaahu. ||1||
enter the True Mansion of His Presence, and merge in the True Name. ||1||
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
सुणि मन मेरे सबदु वीचारि ॥
Suṇ man méré sabaḋ veechaar.
Listen, O my mind: contemplate the Word of the Shabad.

ਰਾਮ ਜਪਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
राम जपहु भवजलु उतरहु पारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Raam japahu bʰavjal uṫarahu paar. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Chant the Lord’s Name, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
|
ਭਰਮੇ ਆਵੈ ਭਰਮੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
भरमे आवै भरमे जाइ ॥
Bʰarmé aavæ bʰarmé jaa▫é.
In doubt he comes, and in doubt he goes.
|
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
इहु जगु जनमिआ दूजै भाइ ॥
Ih jag janmi▫aa ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é.
This world is born out of the love of duality.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
मनमुखि न चेतै आवै जाइ ॥२॥
Manmukʰ na chéṫæ aavæ jaa▫é. ||2||
The self-willed Manmukh does not remember the Lord; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||2||
|
ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
आपि भुला कि प्रभि आपि भुलाइआ ॥
Aap bʰulaa kė parabʰ aap bʰulaa▫i▫aa.
Does he himself go astray, or does God lead him astray?
|
ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
इहु जीउ विडाणी चाकरी लाइआ ॥
Ih jee▫o vidaaṇee chaakree laa▫i▫aa.
This soul is enjoined to the service of someone else.

ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਟੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
महा दुखु खटे बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥३॥
Mahaa ḋukʰ kʰaté birṫʰaa janam gavaa▫i▫aa. ||3||
It causes only terrible pain, and this life is lost in vain. ||3||
|
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
किरपा करि सतिगुरू मिलाए ॥
Kirpaa kar saṫguroo milaa▫é.
Granting His Grace, He leads us to meet the True Guru.

ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤੇ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
एको नामु चेते विचहु भरमु चुकाए ॥
Éko naam chéṫé vichahu bʰaram chukaa▫é.
Remembering the One Name, doubt is cast out from within.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੩੧॥
नानक नामु जपे नाउ नउ निधि पाए ॥४॥११॥३१॥
Naanak naam japé naa▫o na▫o niḋʰ paa▫é. ||4||11||31||
O Nanak! Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the nine treasures of the Name are obtained. ||4||11||31||

ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
जिना गुरमुखि धिआइआ तिन पूछउ जाइ ॥
Jinaa gurmukʰ ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa ṫin poochʰa▫o jaa▫é.
Go and ask the Gurmukhs, who meditate on the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥
गुर सेवा ते मनु पतीआइ ॥
Gur sévaa ṫé man paṫee▫aa▫é.
Serving the Guru, the mind is satisfied.
|
ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
से धनवंत हरि नामु कमाइ ॥
Sé ḋʰanvanṫ har naam kamaa▫é.
Those who earn the Lord’s Name are wealthy.
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
पूरे गुर ते सोझी पाइ ॥१॥
Pooré gur ṫé sojʰee paa▫é. ||1||
Through the Perfect Guru, understanding is obtained. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
हरि हरि नामु जपहु मेरे भाई ॥
Har har naam japahu méré bʰaa▫ee.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਲ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमुखि सेवा हरि घाल थाइ पाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmukʰ sévaa har gʰaal ṫʰaa▫é paa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Gurmukhs serve the Lord, and so they are accepted. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
आपु पछाणै मनु निरमलु होइ ॥
Aap pachʰaaṇæ man nirmal ho▫é.
Those who recognize the self - their minds become pure.
|
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
जीवन मुकति हरि पावै सोइ ॥
Jeevan mukaṫ har paavæ so▫é.
They become Jivan-mukta, liberated while still alive, and they find the Lord.
|
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥
हरि गुण गावै मति ऊतम होइ ॥
Har guṇ gaavæ maṫ ooṫam ho▫é.
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the intellect becomes pure and sublime,
|
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
सहजे सहजि समावै सोइ ॥२॥
Sėhjé sahj samaavæ so▫é. ||2||
and they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||2||
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
दूजै भाइ न सेविआ जाइ ॥
Ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é na sévi▫aa jaa▫é.
In the love of duality, no one can serve the Lord.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
हउमै माइआ महा बिखु खाइ ॥
Ha▫umæ maa▫i▫aa mahaa bikʰ kʰaa▫é.
In egotism and Maya, they are eating toxic poison.

ਪੁਤਿ ਕੁਟੰਬਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥
पुति कुट्मबि ग्रिहि मोहिआ माइ ॥
Puṫ kutamb garihi mohi▫aa maa▫é.
They are emotionally attached to their children, family and home.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
मनमुखि अंधा आवै जाइ ॥३॥
Manmukʰ anḋʰaa aavæ jaa▫é. ||3||
The blind, self-willed Manmukhs come and go in reincarnation. ||3||
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
हरि हरि नामु देवै जनु सोइ ॥
Har har naam ḋévæ jan so▫é.
Those, unto whom the Lord bestows His Name,
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
अनदिनु भगति गुर सबदी होइ ॥
An▫ḋin bʰagaṫ gur sabḋee ho▫é.
worship Him night and day, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
गुरमति विरला बूझै कोइ ॥
Gurmaṫ virlaa boojʰæ ko▫é.
How rare are those who understand the Guru’s Teachings!
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੩੨॥
नानक नामि समावै सोइ ॥४॥१२॥३२॥
Naanak naam samaavæ so▫é. ||4||12||32||
O Nanak! They are absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||12||32||

The Guru’s service has been performed throughout the four ages.

ਪੂਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
पूरा जनु कार कमावै कोई ॥
Pooraa jan kaar kamaavæ ko▫ee.
Very few are those perfect ones who do this good deed.
|
ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
अखुटु नाम धनु हरि तोटि न होई ॥
Akʰut naam ḋʰan har ṫot na ho▫ee.
The wealth of the Lord’s Name is inexhaustible; it shall never be exhausted.

ਐਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
ऐथै सदा सुखु दरि सोभा होई ॥१॥
Æṫʰæ saḋaa sukʰ ḋar sobʰaa ho▫ee. ||1||
In this world, it brings constant peace, and at the Lord’s Gate, it brings honor. ||1||
|
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
ए मन मेरे भरमु न कीजै ॥
É man méré bʰaram na keejæ.
O my mind! Have no doubt about this.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमुखि सेवा अमृत रसु पीजै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmukʰ sévaa amriṫ ras peejæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Those Gurmukhs who serve, drink the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਮਹਾਪੁਰਖ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवहि से महापुरख संसारे ॥
Saṫgur sévėh sé mahaa purakʰ sansaaré.
Those who serve the True Guru are the greatest people of the world.

ਆਪਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
आपि उधरे कुल सगल निसतारे ॥
Aap uḋʰré kul sagal nisṫaaré.
They save themselves, and they redeem all their generations as well.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
हरि का नामु रखहि उर धारे ॥
Har kaa naam rakʰėh ur ḋʰaaré.
They keep the Name of the Lord clasped tightly to their hearts.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਭਉਜਲ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
नामि रते भउजल उतरहि पारे ॥२॥
Naam raṫé bʰa▫ojal uṫrėh paaré. ||2||
Attuned to the Naam, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवहि सदा मनि दासा ॥
Saṫgur sévėh saḋaa man ḋaasaa.
Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes humble forever.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
हउमै मारि कमलु परगासा ॥
Ha▫umæ maar kamal pargaasaa.
Egotism is subdued, and the heart-lotus blossoms forth.
|
ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥
अनहदु वाजै निज घरि वासा ॥
Anhaḋ vaajæ nij gʰar vaasaa.
The Unstruck Melody vibrates, as they dwell within the home of the self.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
नामि रते घर माहि उदासा ॥३॥
Naam raṫé gʰar maahi uḋaasaa. ||3||
Attuned to the Naam, they remain detached within their own home. ||3||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवहि तिन की सची बाणी ॥
Saṫgur sévėh ṫin kee sachee baṇee.
Serving the True Guru, their words are true.

ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
जुगु जुगु भगती आखि वखाणी ॥
Jug jug bʰagṫee aakʰ vakʰaaṇee.
Throughout the ages, the devotees chant and repeat these words.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
अनदिनु जपहि हरि सारंगपाणी ॥
An▫ḋin jaapėh har saarangpaaṇee.
Night and day, they meditate on the Lord, the Sustainer of the Earth.
