ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਾ ॥
हसती घोड़े देखि विगासा ॥
Hasṫee gʰoṛé ḋékʰ vigaasaa.
He is pleased at the sight of his elephants and horses
|
ਲਸਕਰ ਜੋੜੇ ਨੇਬ ਖਵਾਸਾ ॥
लसकर जोड़े नेब खवासा ॥
Laskar joṛé néb kʰavaasaa.
and his armies assembled, his servants and his soldiers.
|
ਗਲਿ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੇ ਫਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
गलि जेवड़ी हउमै के फासा ॥२॥
Gal jévṛee ha▫umæ ké faasaa. ||2||
But the noose of egotism is tightening around his neck. ||2||
|
ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
राजु कमावै दह दिस सारी ॥
Raaj kamaavæ ḋah ḋis saaree.
His rule may extend in all ten directions;
|
ਮਾਣੈ ਰੰਗ ਭੋਗ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
माणै रंग भोग बहु नारी ॥
Maaṇæ rang bʰog baho naaree.
he may revel in pleasures, and enjoy many women -
|
ਜਿਉ ਨਰਪਤਿ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
जिउ नरपति सुपनै भेखारी ॥३॥
Ji▫o narpaṫ supnæ bʰékʰaaree. ||3||
but he is just a beggar, who in his dream, is a king. ||3||
|
ਏਕੁ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਬਤਾਇਆ ॥
एकु कुसलु मो कउ सतिगुरू बताइआ ॥
Ék kusal mo ka▫o saṫguroo baṫaa▫i▫aa.
The True Guru has shown me that there is only one pleasure.

ਹਰਿ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
हरि जो किछु करे सु हरि किआ भगता भाइआ ॥
Har jo kichʰ karé so har ki▫aa bʰagṫaa bʰaa▫i▫aa.
Whatever the Lord does, is pleasing to the Lord’s devotee.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
जन नानक हउमै मारि समाइआ ॥४॥
Jan Naanak ha▫umæ maar samaa▫i▫aa. ||4||
Servant Nanak has abolished his ego, and he is absorbed in the Lord. ||4||
|
ਇਨਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲ ਹੋਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
इनि बिधि कुसल होत मेरे भाई ॥
In biḋʰ kusal hoṫ méré bʰaa▫ee.
This is the way to find happiness, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਇਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
इउ पाईऐ हरि राम सहाई ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥
I▫o paa▫ee▫æ har raam sahaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o ḋoojaa.
This is the way to find the Lord, our Help and Support. ||1||Second. Pause||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ५ ॥
Ga▫oṛee gu▫aaréree mėhlaa 5.

ਕਿਉ ਭ੍ਰਮੀਐ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
किउ भ्रमीऐ भ्रमु किस का होई ॥
Ki▫o bʰarmee▫æ bʰaram kis kaa ho▫ee.
Why do you have doubt? What do you doubt?

ਜਾ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥
जा जलि थलि महीअलि रविआ सोई ॥
Jaa jal ṫʰal mahee▫al ravi▫aa so▫ee.
God is pervading the water, the land and the sky.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੧॥
गुरमुखि उबरे मनमुख पति खोई ॥१॥
Gurmukʰ ubré manmukʰ paṫ kʰo▫ee. ||1||
The Gurmukhs are saved, while the self-willed Manmukhs lose their honor. ||1||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਦਇਆਰਾ ॥
जिसु राखै आपि रामु दइआरा ॥
Jis raakʰæ aap raam ḋa▫i▫aaraa.
One who is protected by the Merciful Lord -

ਤਿਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तिसु नही दूजा को पहुचनहारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ṫis nahee ḋoojaa ko pahuchanhaaraa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
no one else can rival him. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੁ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥
सभ महि वरतै एकु अनंता ॥
Sabʰ mėh varṫæ ék ananṫaa.
The Infinite One is pervading among all.
|
ਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਉ ਹੋਇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
ता तूं सुखि सोउ होइ अचिंता ॥
Ṫaa ṫooⁿ sukʰ so▫o ho▫é achinṫaa.
So, sleep in peace, and don’t worry.

ਓਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਵਰਤੰਤਾ ॥੨॥
ओहु सभु किछु जाणै जो वरतंता ॥२॥
Oh sabʰ kichʰ jaaṇæ jo varṫanṫaa. ||2||
He knows everything which happens. ||2||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਜਿਨ ਦੂਜੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
मनमुख मुए जिन दूजी पिआसा ॥
Manmukʰ mu▫é jin ḋoojee pi▫aasaa.
The self-willed Manmukhs are dying in the thirst of duality.
|
ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਵਹਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸਾ ॥
बहु जोनी भवहि धुरि किरति लिखिआसा ॥
Baho jonee bʰavėh ḋʰur kiraṫ likʰi▫aasaa.
They wander lost through countless incarnations; this is their preordained destiny.

ਜੈਸਾ ਬੀਜਹਿ ਤੈਸਾ ਖਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
जैसा बीजहि तैसा खासा ॥३॥
Jæsaa beejėh ṫæsaa kʰaasaa. ||3||
As they plant, so shall they harvest. ||3||
|
ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਵਿਗਾਸਾ ॥
देखि दरसु मनि भइआ विगासा ॥
Ḋékʰ ḋaras man bʰa▫i▫aa vigaasaa.
Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan, my mind has blossomed forth.

ਸਭੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
सभु नदरी आइआ ब्रहमु परगासा ॥
Sabʰ naḋree aa▫i▫aa barahm pargaasaa.
And now everywhere I look, God is revealed to me.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੭੧॥
जन नानक की हरि पूरन आसा ॥४॥२॥७१॥
Jan Naanak kee har pooran aasaa. ||4||2||71||
Servant Nanak’s hopes have been fulfilled by the Lord. ||4||2||71||

ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਭਏ ਕੀਟ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥
कई जनम भए कीट पतंगा ॥
Ka▫ee janam bʰa▫é keet paṫangaa.
In so many incarnations, you were a worm and an insect;
|
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗਜ ਮੀਨ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥
कई जनम गज मीन कुरंगा ॥
Ka▫ee janam gaj meen kurangaa.
in so many incarnations, you were an elephant, a fish and a deer.
|
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਰਪ ਹੋਇਓ ॥
कई जनम पंखी सरप होइओ ॥
Ka▫ee janam pankʰee sarap ho▫i▫o.
In so many incarnations, you were a bird and a snake.
|
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਹੈਵਰ ਬ੍ਰਿਖ ਜੋਇਓ ॥੧॥
कई जनम हैवर ब्रिख जोइओ ॥१॥
Ka▫ee janam hævar barikʰ jo▫i▫o. ||1||
In so many incarnations, you were yoked as an ox and a horse. ||1||
|
ਮਿਲੁ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
मिलु जगदीस मिलन की बरीआ ॥
Mil jagḋees milan kee baree▫aa.
Meet the Lord of the Universe - now is the time to meet Him.

ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਸੰਜਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
चिरंकाल इह देह संजरीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Chirankaal ih ḋéh sanjaree▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
After so very long, this human body was fashioned for you. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਸੈਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
कई जनम सैल गिरि करिआ ॥
Ka▫ee janam sæl gir kari▫aa.
In so many incarnations, you were rocks and mountains;
|
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗਰਭ ਹਿਰਿ ਖਰਿਆ ॥
कई जनम गरभ हिरि खरिआ ॥
Ka▫ee janam garabʰ hir kʰari▫aa.
in so many incarnations, you were aborted in the womb;
|
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਸਾਖ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
कई जनम साख करि उपाइआ ॥
Ka▫ee janam saakʰ kar upaa▫i▫aa.
in so many incarnations, you developed branches and leaves;
|
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
लख चउरासीह जोनि भ्रमाइआ ॥२॥
Lakʰ cha▫oraaseeh jon bʰarmaa▫i▫aa. ||2||
you wandered through 8.4 million incarnations. ||2||
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਇਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ॥
साधसंगि भइओ जनमु परापति ॥
Saaḋʰsang bʰa▫i▫o janam paraapaṫ.
Through the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you obtained this human life.
|
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ॥
करि सेवा भजु हरि हरि गुरमति ॥
Kar sévaa bʰaj har har gurmaṫ.
Do seva - selfless service; follow the Guru’s Teachings, and vibrate the Lord’s Name, Har, Har.
|
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
तिआगि मानु झूठु अभिमानु ॥
Ṫi▫aag maan jʰootʰ abʰimaan.
Abandon pride, falsehood and arrogance.
|
ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
जीवत मरहि दरगह परवानु ॥३॥
Jeevaṫ marėh ḋargėh parvaan. ||3||
Remain dead while still alive, and you shall be welcomed in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
|
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੁ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
जो किछु होआ सु तुझ ते होगु ॥
Jo kichʰ ho▫aa so ṫujʰ ṫé hog.
Whatever has been, and whatever shall be, comes from You, Lord.

ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
अवरु न दूजा करणै जोगु ॥
Avar na ḋoojaa karṇæ jog.
No one else can do anything at all.
|
ਤਾ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਜਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
ता मिलीऐ जा लैहि मिलाइ ॥
Ṫaa milee▫æ jaa læhi milaa▫é.
We are united with You, when You unite us with Yourself.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੭੨॥
कहु नानक हरि हरि गुण गाइ ॥४॥३॥७२॥
Kaho Naanak har har guṇ gaa▫é. ||4||3||72||
Says Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||3||72||

Karam bʰoom mėh bo▫ahu naam.
In the field of karma, plant the seed of the Naam.
|
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
पूरन होइ तुमारा कामु ॥
Pooran ho▫é ṫumaaraa kaam.
Your works shall be brought to fruition.
|
ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਿਟੈ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
फल पावहि मिटै जम त्रास ॥
Fal paavahi mitæ jam ṫaraas.
You shall obtain these fruits, and the fear of death shall be dispelled.
|
ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਸ ॥੧॥
नित गावहि हरि हरि गुण जास ॥१॥
Niṫ gaavahi har har guṇ jaas. ||1||
Sing continually the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
हरि हरि नामु अंतरि उरि धारि ॥
Har har naam anṫar ur ḋʰaar.
Keep the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, enshrined in your heart,
|
ਸੀਘਰ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सीघर कारजु लेहु सवारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Seegʰar kaaraj lého savaar. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
and your affairs shall be quickly resolved. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਹੋਹੁ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੁ ॥
अपने प्रभ सिउ होहु सावधानु ॥
Apné parabʰ si▫o hohu saavḋʰaan.
Be always attentive to your God;

ਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
ता तूं दरगह पावहि मानु ॥
Ṫaa ṫooⁿ ḋargėh paavahi maan.
Thus, you shall be honored in His Court.
