ਚਰਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਧਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
चरन ठाकुर कै मारगि धावउ ॥१॥
Charan tʰaakur kæ maarag ḋʰaava▫o. ||1||
With my feet, I walk on the Path of my Lord and Master. ||1||
|
ਭਲੋ ਸਮੋ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
भलो समो सिमरन की बरीआ ॥
Bʰalo samo simran kee baree▫aa.
It is a good time, when I remember Him in meditation.

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੈ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सिमरत नामु भै पारि उतरीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Simraṫ naam bʰæ paar uṫree▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
|
ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖੁ ॥
नेत्र संतन का दरसनु पेखु ॥
Néṫar sanṫan kaa ḋarsan pékʰ.
With your eyes, behold the Blessed Vision of the Saints.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੨॥
प्रभ अविनासी मन महि लेखु ॥२॥
Parabʰ avinaasee man mėh lékʰ. ||2||
Record the Immortal Lord God within your mind. ||2||
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
सुणि कीरतनु साध पहि जाइ ॥
Suṇ keerṫan saaḋʰ pėh jaa▫é.
Listen to the Kirtan of His Praises, at the Feet of the Holy.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੩॥
जनम मरण की त्रास मिटाइ ॥३॥
Janam maraṇ kee ṫaraas mitaa▫é. ||3||
Your fears of birth and death shall depart. ||3||
|
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
चरण कमल ठाकुर उरि धारि ॥
Charaṇ kamal tʰaakur ur ḋʰaar.
Enshrine the Lotus Feet of your Lord and Master within your heart.

ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੫੧॥੧੨੦॥
दुलभ देह नानक निसतारि ॥४॥५१॥१२०॥
Ḋulabʰ ḋéh Naanak nisṫaar. ||4||51||120||
Thus, this human life, so difficult to obtain, shall be redeemed. ||4||51||120||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
गउड़ी महला ५ ॥
Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
जा कउ अपनी किरपा धारै ॥
Jaa ka▫o apnee kirpaa ḋʰaaræ.
Those, upon whom the Lord Himself showers His Mercy,
|
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
सो जनु रसना नामु उचारै ॥१॥
So jan rasnaa naam uchaaré. ||1||
chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with their tongues. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
हरि बिसरत सहसा दुखु बिआपै ॥
Har bisraṫ sahsaa ḋukʰ bi▫aapæ.
Forgetting the Lord, superstition and sorrow shall overtake you.

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सिमरत नामु भरमु भउ भागै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Simraṫ naam bʰaram bʰa▫o bʰaagæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Meditating on the Naam, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||Pause||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
हरि कीरतनु सुणै हरि कीरतनु गावै ॥
Har keerṫan suṇæ har keerṫan gaavæ.
Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, and singing the Lord’s Kirtan,
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
तिसु जन दूखु निकटि नही आवै ॥२॥
Ṫis jan ḋookʰ nikat nahee aavæ. ||2||
misfortune shall not even come near you. ||2||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਰਤ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
हरि की टहल करत जनु सोहै ॥
Har kee tahal karaṫ jan sohæ.
Working for the Lord, His humble servants look beautiful.
|
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥੩॥
ता कउ माइआ अगनि न पोहै ॥३॥
Ṫaa ka▫o maa▫i▫aa agan na pohæ. ||3||
The fire of Maya does not touch them. ||3||
|
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
मनि तनि मुखि हरि नामु दइआल ॥
Man ṫan mukʰ har naam ḋa▫i▫aal.
Within their minds, bodies and mouths, is the Name of the Merciful Lord.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਜੀਅਲੇ ਅਵਰਿ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੪॥੫੨॥੧੨੧॥
नानक तजीअले अवरि जंजाल ॥४॥५२॥१२१॥
Naanak ṫajee▫alé avar janjaal. ||4||52||121||
Nanak has renounced other entanglements. ||4||52||121||

ਛਾਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
छाडि सिआनप बहु चतुराई ॥
Chʰaad si▫aanap baho chaṫuraa▫ee.
Renounce your cleverness, and your cunning tricks.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਈ ॥੧॥
गुर पूरे की टेक टिकाई ॥१॥
Gur pooré kee ték tikaa▫ee. ||1||
Seek the Support of the Perfect Guru. ||1||
|
ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
दुख बिनसे सुख हरि गुण गाइ ॥
Ḋukʰ binsé sukʰ har guṇ gaa▫é.
Your pain shall depart, and in peace, you shall sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरु पूरा भेटिआ लिव लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur pooraa bʰéti▫aa liv laa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Meeting the Perfect Guru, let yourself be absorbed in the Lord’s Love. ||1||Pause||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ॥
हरि का नामु दीओ गुरि मंत्रु ॥
Har kaa naam ḋee▫o gur manṫar.
The Guru has given me the Mantra of the Name of the Lord.
|
ਮਿਟੇ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ਉਤਰੀ ਚਿੰਤ ॥੨॥
मिटे विसूरे उतरी चिंत ॥२॥
Mité visooré uṫree chinṫ. ||2||
My worries are forgotten, and my anxiety is gone. ||2||
|
ਅਨਦ ਭਏ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
अनद भए गुर मिलत क्रिपाल ॥
Anaḋ bʰa▫é gur milaṫ kirpaal.
Meeting with the Merciful Guru, I am in ecstasy.
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਾਟੇ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ॥੩॥
करि किरपा काटे जम जाल ॥३॥
Kar kirpaa kaaté jam jaal. ||3||
Showering His Mercy, He has cut away the noose of the Messenger of Death. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
कहु नानक गुरु पूरा पाइआ ॥
Kaho Naanak gur pooraa paa▫i▫aa.
Says Nanak, I have found the Perfect Guru;

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫੩॥੧੨੨॥
ता ते बहुरि न बिआपै माइआ ॥४॥५३॥१२२॥
Ṫaa ṫé bahur na bi▫aapæ maa▫i▫aa. ||4||53||122||
Maya shall no longer harass me. ||4||53||122||

गउड़ी महला ५ ॥
Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਆਪਿ ॥
राखि लीआ गुरि पूरै आपि ॥
Raakʰ lee▫aa gur pooræ aap.
The Perfect Guru Himself has saved me.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥
मनमुख कउ लागो संतापु ॥१॥
Manmukʰ ka▫o laago sanṫaap. ||1||
The self-willed Manmukhs are afflicted with misfortune. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਪਿ ਮੀਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
गुरू गुरू जपि मीत हमारे ॥
Guroo guroo jap meeṫ hamaaré.
Chant and meditate on the Guru, the Guru, O my friend.
|
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मुख ऊजल होवहि दरबारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Mukʰ oojal hovėh ḋarbaaré. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Your face shall be radiant in the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
गुर के चरण हिरदै वसाइ ॥
Gur ké charaṇ hirḋæ vasaa▫é.
Enshrine the Feet of the Guru within your heart;
|
ਦੁਖ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਤੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
दुख दुसमन तेरी हतै बलाइ ॥२॥
Ḋukʰ ḋusman ṫéree haṫæ balaa▫é. ||2||
your pains, enemies and bad luck shall be destroyed. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
गुर का सबदु तेरै संगि सहाई ॥
Gur kaa sabaḋ ṫéræ sang sahaa▫ee.
The Word of the Guru’s Shabad is your Companion and Helper.

ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
दइआल भए सगले जीअ भाई ॥३॥
Ḋa▫i▫aal bʰa▫é saglé jee▫a bʰaa▫ee. ||3||
O Siblings of Destiny, all beings shall be kind to you. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਜਬ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥
गुरि पूरै जब किरपा करी ॥
Gur pooræ jab kirpaa karee.
When the Perfect Guru granted His Grace,
|
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਰੀ ॥੪॥੫੪॥੧੨੩॥
भनति नानक मेरी पूरी परी ॥४॥५४॥१२३॥
Bʰanaṫ Naanak méree pooree paree. ||4||54||123||
says Nanak, I was totally, completely fulfilled. ||4||54||123||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਅਨਿਕ ਰਸਾ ਖਾਏ ਜੈਸੇ ਢੋਰ ॥
अनिक रसा खाए जैसे ढोर ॥
Anik rasaa kʰaa▫é jæsé dʰor.
Like beasts, they consume all sorts of tasty treats.
|
ਮੋਹ ਕੀ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਚੋਰ ॥੧॥
मोह की जेवरी बाधिओ चोर ॥१॥
Moh kee jévree baaḋʰi▫o chor. ||1||
With the rope of emotional attachment, they are bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||
|
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਦੇਹ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਬਿਹੂਨਾ ॥
मिरतक देह साधसंग बिहूना ॥
Mirṫak ḋéh saaḋʰsang bihoonaa.
Their bodies are corpses, without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਜੋਨੀ ਦੁਖ ਖੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
आवत जात जोनी दुख खीना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Aavaṫ jaaṫ jonee ḋukʰ kʰeenaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
They come and go in reincarnation, and are destroyed by pain. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥
अनिक बसत्र सुंदर पहिराइआ ॥
Anik basṫar sunḋar pėhraa▫i▫aa.
They wear all sorts of beautiful robes,
|
ਜਿਉ ਡਰਨਾ ਖੇਤ ਮਾਹਿ ਡਰਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
जिउ डरना खेत माहि डराइआ ॥२॥
Ji▫o darnaa kʰéṫ maahi daraa▫i▫aa. ||2||
but they are still just scarecrows in the field, frightening away the birds. ||2||
|
ਸਗਲ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਵਤ ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ॥
सगल सरीर आवत सभ काम ॥
Sagal sareer aavaṫ sabʰ kaam.
All bodies are of some use,
|
ਨਿਹਫਲ ਮਾਨੁਖੁ ਜਪੈ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
निहफल मानुखु जपै नही नाम ॥३॥
Nihfal maanukʰ japæ nahee naam. ||3||
but those who do not meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are totally useless. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
कहु नानक जा कउ भए दइआला ॥
Kaho Naanak jaa ka▫o bʰa▫é ḋa▫i▫aalaa.
Says Nanak, those unto whom the Lord becomes Merciful,
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਜਹਿ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੫੫॥੧੨੪॥
साधसंगि मिलि भजहि गुोपाला ॥४॥५५॥१२४॥
Saaḋʰsang mil bʰajėh gopaalaa. ||4||55||124||
join the Saadh Sangat, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ||4||55||124||
