ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਥਿਧਾਈ ॥
अह्मबुधि मन पूरि थिधाई ॥
Ahaⁿ▫buḋʰ man poor ṫʰiḋʰaa▫ee.
The mind is overflowing with the greasy dirt of egotistical pride.
|
ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਧ ਮੰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
साध धूरि करि सुध मंजाई ॥१॥
Saaḋʰ ḋʰoor kar suḋʰ manjaa▫ee. ||1||
With the dust of the feet of the Holy, it is scrubbed clean. ||1||
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਲਾ ਜੇ ਧੋਵੈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
अनिक जला जे धोवै देही ॥
Anik jalaa jé ḋʰovæ ḋéhee.
The body may be washed with loads of water,
|
ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਤੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
मैलु न उतरै सुधु न तेही ॥२॥
Mæl na uṫræ suḋʰ na ṫéhee. ||2||
and yet its filth is not removed, and it does not become clean. ||2||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
सतिगुरु भेटिओ सदा क्रिपाल ॥
Saṫgur bʰéti▫o saḋaa kirpaal.
I have met the True Guru, who is merciful forever.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਭਉ ਕਾਲ ॥੩॥
हरि सिमरि सिमरि काटिआ भउ काल ॥३॥
Har simar simar kaati▫aa bʰa▫o kaal. ||3||
Meditating, meditating in remembrance of the Lord, I am rid of the fear of death. ||3||

ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
मुकति भुगति जुगति हरि नाउ ॥
Mukaṫ bʰugaṫ jugaṫ har naa▫o.
Liberation, pleasures and worldly success are all in the Lord’s Name.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੧੦੦॥੧੬੯॥
प्रेम भगति नानक गुण गाउ ॥४॥१००॥१६९॥
Parém bʰagaṫ Naanak guṇ gaa▫o. ||4||100||169||
With loving devotional worship, O Nanak! Sing His Glorious Praises. ||4||100||169||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
जीवन पदवी हरि के दास ॥
Jeevan paḋvee har ké ḋaas.
The Lord’s slaves attain the highest status of life.
|
ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
जिन मिलिआ आतम परगासु ॥१॥
Jin mili▫aa aaṫam pargaas. ||1||
Meeting them, the soul is enlightened. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਕਾਨੀ ॥
हरि का सिमरनु सुनि मन कानी ॥
Har kaa simran sun man kaanee.
Those who listen with their mind and ears to the Lord’s meditative remembrance,
|
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सुखु पावहि हरि दुआर परानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sukʰ paavahi har ḋu▫aar paraanee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
are blessed with peace at the Lord’s Gate, O mortal. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ॥
आठ पहर धिआईऐ गोपालु ॥
Aatʰ pahar ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ gopaal.
Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on the Sustainer of the World.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥੨॥੧੦੧॥੧੭੦॥
नानक दरसनु देखि निहालु ॥२॥१०१॥१७०॥
Naanak ḋarsan ḋékʰ nihaal. ||2||101||170||
O Nanak! Gazing on the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, I am enraptured. ||2||101||170||

ਸਾਂਤਿ ਭਈ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿਦਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
सांति भई गुर गोबिदि पाई ॥
Saaⁿṫ bʰa▫ee gur gobiḋ paa▫ee.
Peace and tranquility have come; the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, has brought it.

ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ताप पाप बिनसे मेरे भाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ṫaap paap binsé méré bʰaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The burning sins have departed, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
राम नामु नित रसन बखान ॥
Raam naam niṫ rasan bakʰaan.
With your tongue, continually chant the Lord’s Name.
|
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਕਲਿਆਨ ॥੧॥
बिनसे रोग भए कलिआन ॥१॥
Binsé rog bʰa▫é kali▫aan. ||1||
Disease shall depart, and you shall be saved. ||1||
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
पारब्रहम गुण अगम बीचार ॥
Paarbarahm guṇ agam beechaar.
Contemplate the Glorious Virtues of the Unfathomable Supreme Lord God.

ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੨॥
साधू संगमि है निसतार ॥२॥
Saaḋʰoo sangam hæ nisṫaar. ||2||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall be emancipated. ||2||
|
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤ ॥
निरमल गुण गावहु नित नीत ॥
Nirmal guṇ gaavhu niṫ neeṫ.
Sing the Glories of God each and every day;
|
ਗਈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਨ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
गई बिआधि उबरे जन मीत ॥३॥
Ga▫ee bi▫aaḋʰ ubré jan meeṫ. ||3||
your afflictions shall be dispelled, and you shall be saved, my humble friend. ||3||
|
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
मन बच क्रम प्रभु अपना धिआई ॥
Man bach karam parabʰ apnaa ḋʰi▫aa▫ee.
In thought, word and deed, I meditate on my God.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦੨॥੧੭੧॥
नानक दास तेरी सरणाई ॥४॥१०२॥१७१॥
Naanak ḋaas ṫéree sarṇaa▫ee. ||4||102||171||
Slave Nanak has come to Your Sanctuary. ||4||102||171||

ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਕੀਆ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
नेत्र प्रगासु कीआ गुरदेव ॥
Néṫar pargaas kee▫aa gurḋév.
The Divine Guru has opened his eyes.

ਭਰਮ ਗਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
भरम गए पूरन भई सेव ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bʰaram ga▫é pooran bʰa▫ee sév. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Doubt has been dispelled; my service has been successful. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੇ ਰਖਿਆ ਬਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
सीतला ते रखिआ बिहारी ॥
Seeṫlaa ṫé rakʰi▫aa bihaaree.
The Giver of joy has saved him from smallpox.
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
पारब्रहम प्रभ किरपा धारी ॥१॥
Paarbarahm parabʰ kirpaa ḋʰaaree. ||1||
The Supreme Lord God has granted His Grace. ||1||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
नानक नामु जपै सो जीवै ॥
Naanak naam japæ so jeevæ.
O Nanak! He alone lives, who chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ॥੨॥੧੦੩॥੧੭੨॥
साधसंगि हरि अमृतु पीवै ॥२॥१०३॥१७२॥
Saaḋʰsang har amriṫ peevæ. ||2||103||172||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, drink deeply of the Lord’s Ambrosial Nectar. ||2||103||172||

ਧਨੁ ਓਹੁ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੇਤ ॥
धनु ओहु मसतकु धनु तेरे नेत ॥
Ḋʰan oh masṫak ḋʰan ṫéré néṫ.
Blessed is that forehead, and blessed are those eyes;
|
ਧਨੁ ਓਇ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਨ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤ ॥੧॥
धनु ओइ भगत जिन तुम संगि हेत ॥१॥
Ḋʰan o▫é bʰagaṫ jin ṫum sang héṫ. ||1||
blessed are those devotees who are in love with You. ||1||
|
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
नाम बिना कैसे सुखु लहीऐ ॥
Naam binaa kæsé sukʰ lahee▫æ.
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how anyone find peace?

ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
रसना राम नाम जसु कहीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Rasnaa raam naam jas kahee▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
With your tongue, chant the Praises of the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਤਿਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
तिन ऊपरि जाईऐ कुरबाणु ॥
Ṫin oopar jaa▫ee▫æ kurbaaṇ.
Nanak is a sacrifice to those
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥੧੦੪॥੧੭੩॥
नानक जिनि जपिआ निरबाणु ॥२॥१०४॥१७३॥
Naanak jin japi▫aa nirbaaṇ. ||2||104||173||
who meditate on the Lord of Nirvana. ||2||104||173||

ਤੂੰਹੈ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
तूंहै मसलति तूंहै नालि ॥
Ṫooⁿhæ maslaṫ ṫooⁿhæ naal.
You are my Advisor; You are always with me.
|
ਤੂਹੈ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
तूहै राखहि सारि समालि ॥१॥
Ṫoohæ raakʰahi saar samaal. ||1||
You preserve, protect and care for me. ||1||
|
ਐਸਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
ऐसा रामु दीन दुनी सहाई ॥
Æsaa raam ḋeen ḋunee sahaa▫ee.
Such is the Lord, our Help and Support in this world and the next.
|
ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दास की पैज रखै मेरे भाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḋaas kee pæj rakʰæ méré bʰaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
He protects the honor of His slave, O my Sibling of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਗੈ ਆਪਿ ਇਹੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
आगै आपि इहु थानु वसि जा कै ॥
Aagæ aap ih ṫʰaan vas jaa kæ.
He alone exists hereafter; this place is in His Power.
|
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
आठ पहर मनु हरि कउ जापै ॥२॥
Aatʰ pahar man har ka▫o jaapæ. ||2||
Twenty-four hours a day, O my mind! Chant and meditate on the Lord. ||2||
|
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
पति परवाणु सचु नीसाणु ॥
Paṫ parvaaṇ sach neesaaṇ.
His honor is acknowledged, and he bears the True Insignia;
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
जा कउ आपि करहि फुरमानु ॥३॥
Jaa ka▫o aap karahi furmaan. ||3||
the Lord Himself issues His Royal Command. ||3||
|
ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ॥
आपे दाता आपि प्रतिपालि ॥
Aapé ḋaaṫaa aap parṫipaal.
He Himself is the Giver; He Himself is the Cherisher.

ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੪॥੧੦੫॥੧੭੪॥
नित नित नानक राम नामु समालि ॥४॥१०५॥१७४॥
Niṫ niṫ Naanak raam naam samaal. ||4||105||174||
Continually, continuously, O Nanak! Dwell upon the Name of the Lord. ||4||105||174||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਇਆ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ॥
सतिगुरु पूरा भइआ क्रिपालु ॥
Saṫgur pooraa bʰa▫i▫aa kirpaal.
When the Perfect True Guru becomes merciful,
|
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
हिरदै वसिआ सदा गुपालु ॥१॥
Hirḋæ vasi▫aa saḋaa gupaal. ||1||
the Lord of the World abides in the heart forever. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਤ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
रामु रवत सद ही सुखु पाइआ ॥
Raam ravaṫ saḋ hee sukʰ paa▫i▫aa.
Meditating on the Lord, I have found eternal peace.
