ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
हरि हरि कबहू न मनहु बिसारे ॥
Har har kabhoo na manhu bisaaré.
Never forget the Lord, Har, Har, from your mind.

ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ईहा ऊहा सरब सुखदाता सगल घटा प्रतिपारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Eehaa oohaa sarab sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa sagal gʰataa parṫipaaré. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Here and hereafter, He is the Giver of all peace. He is the Cherisher of all hearts. ||1||Pause||

ਮਹਾ ਕਸਟ ਕਾਟੈ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥
महा कसट काटै खिन भीतरि रसना नामु चितारे ॥
Mahaa kasat kaatæ kʰin bʰeeṫar rasnaa naam chiṫaaré.
He removes the most terrible pains in an instant, if the tongue repeats His Name.

ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੂਖ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ਜਲਤੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
सीतल सांति सूख हरि सरणी जलती अगनि निवारे ॥१॥
Seeṫal saaⁿṫ sookʰ har sarṇee jalṫee agan nivaaré. ||1||
In the Lord’s Sanctuary there is soothing coolness, peace and tranquility. He has extinguished the burning fire. ||1||

ਗਰਭ ਕੁੰਡ ਨਰਕ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥
गरभ कुंड नरक ते राखै भवजलु पारि उतारे ॥
Garabʰ kund narak ṫé raakʰæ bʰavjal paar uṫaaré.
He saves us from the hellish pit of the womb, and carries us across the terrifying world-ocean.

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਆਰਾਧਤ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
चरन कमल आराधत मन महि जम की त्रास बिदारे ॥२॥
Charan kamal aaraaḋʰaṫ man mėh jam kee ṫaraas biḋaaré. ||2||
Adoring His Lotus Feet in the mind, the fear of death is banished. ||2||

ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
पूरन पारब्रहम परमेसुर ऊचा अगम अपारे ॥
Pooran paarbarahm parmésur oochaa agam apaaré.
He is the Perfect, Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, lofty, unfathomable and infinite.

ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਧਿਆਵਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਜੂਏ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
गुण गावत धिआवत सुख सागर जूए जनमु न हारे ॥३॥
Guṇ gaavaṫ ḋʰi▫aavaṫ sukʰ saagar joo▫é janam na haaré. ||3||
Singing His Glorious Praises, and meditating on the Ocean of peace, one’s life is not lost in the gamble. ||3||

ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨੋ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਕੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੇ ॥
कामि क्रोधि लोभि मोहि मनु लीनो निरगुण के दातारे ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ lobʰ mohi man leeno nirguṇ ké ḋaaṫaaré.
My mind is engrossed in sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, O Giver to the unworthy.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩੮॥
करि किरपा अपुनो नामु दीजै नानक सद बलिहारे ॥४॥१॥१३८॥
Kar kirpaa apuno naam ḋeejæ Naanak saḋ balihaaré. ||4||1||138||
Please grant Your Grace, and bless me with Your Name; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||138||

सुखु नाही रे हरि भगति बिना ॥
Sukʰ naahee ré har bʰagaṫ binaa.
There is no peace without devotional worship of the Lord.

ਜੀਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਇਕ ਖਿਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जीति जनमु इहु रतनु अमोलकु साधसंगति जपि इक खिना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jeeṫ janam ih raṫan amolak saaḋʰsangaṫ jap ik kʰinaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Be victorious, and win the priceless jewel of this human life, by meditating on Him in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, even for an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੋਦ ॥
सुत स्मपति बनिता बिनोद ॥
Suṫ sampaṫ baniṫaa binoḋ.
Children, wealth, spouses, joyful games and pleasures,
|
ਛੋਡਿ ਗਏ ਬਹੁ ਲੋਗ ਭੋਗ ॥੧॥
छोडि गए बहु लोग भोग ॥१॥
Chʰod ga▫é baho log bʰog. ||1||
have been renounced by many. ||1||
|
ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਰਾਜ ਰੰਗ ॥
हैवर गैवर राज रंग ॥
Hævar gævar raaj rang.
Horses, elephants and the pleasures of power -
|
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਹੈ ਮੂੜ ਨੰਗ ॥੨॥
तिआगि चलिओ है मूड़ नंग ॥२॥
Ṫi▫aag chali▫o hæ mooṛ nang. ||2||
leaving these behind, the fool must depart naked. ||2||
|
ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੇਹ ਫੂਲਿਆ ॥
चोआ चंदन देह फूलिआ ॥
Cho▫aa chanḋan ḋéh fooli▫aa.
The body, scented with musk and sandalwood -
|
ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਧਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੂਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
सो तनु धर संगि रूलिआ ॥३॥
So ṫan ḋʰar sang rooli▫aa. ||3||
that body shall come to roll in the dust. ||3||
|
ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਨੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
मोहि मोहिआ जानै दूरि है ॥
Mohi mohi▫aa jaanæ ḋoor hæ.
Infatuated with emotional attachment, they think that God is far away.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩੯॥
कहु नानक सदा हदूरि है ॥४॥१॥१३९॥
Kaho Naanak saḋaa haḋoor hæ. ||4||1||139||
Says Nanak, he is Ever-present! ||4||1||139||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਨ ਧਰ ਤਰਬੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨੋ ॥
मन धर तरबे हरि नाम नो ॥
Man ḋʰar ṫarbé har naam no.
O mind, cross over with the Support of the Lord’s Name.

ਸਾਗਰ ਲਹਰਿ ਸੰਸਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਰ ਗਰਾਮਨੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सागर लहरि संसा संसारु गुरु बोहिथु पार गरामनो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saagar lahar sansaa sansaar gur bohiṫʰ paar garaamano. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The Guru is the boat to carry you across the world-ocean, through the waves of cynicism and doubt. ||1||Pause||

ਕਲਿ ਕਾਲਖ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀਆ ॥
कलि कालख अंधिआरीआ ॥
Kal kaalakʰ anḋʰi▫aaree▫aa.
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, there is only pitch darkness.
|
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਪਕ ਉਜਿਆਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
गुर गिआन दीपक उजिआरीआ ॥१॥
Gur gi▫aan ḋeepak uji▫aaree▫aa. ||1||
The lamp of the Guru’s spiritual wisdom illuminates and enlightens. ||1||
|
ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਪਸਰੀ ਅਤਿ ਘਨੀ ॥
बिखु बिखिआ पसरी अति घनी ॥
Bikʰ bikʰi▫aa pasree aṫ gʰanee.
The poison of corruption is spread out far and wide.
|
ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੨॥
उबरे जपि जपि हरि गुनी ॥२॥
Ubré jap jap har gunee. ||2||
Only the virtuous are saved, chanting and meditating on the Lord. ||2||
|
ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੋਇਆ ॥
मतवारो माइआ सोइआ ॥
Maṫvaaro maa▫i▫aa so▫i▫aa.
Intoxicated with Maya, the people are asleep.
|
ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਖੋਇਆ ॥੩॥
गुर भेटत भ्रमु भउ खोइआ ॥३॥
Gur bʰétaṫ bʰaram bʰa▫o kʰo▫i▫aa. ||3||
Meeting the Guru, doubt and fear are dispelled. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
कहु नानक एकु धिआइआ ॥
Kaho Naanak ék ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa.
Says Nanak, meditate on the One Lord;
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪੦॥
घटि घटि नदरी आइआ ॥४॥२॥१४०॥
Gʰat gʰat naḋree aa▫i▫aa. ||4||2||140||
behold Him in each and every heart. ||4||2||140||

ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਤੁਹੀ ਏਕ ॥
दीबानु हमारो तुही एक ॥
Ḋeebaan hamaaro ṫuhee ék.
You alone are my Chief Advisor.

ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सेवा थारी गुरहि टेक ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sévaa ṫʰaaree gurėh ték. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
I serve You with the Support of the Guru. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
अनिक जुगति नही पाइआ ॥
Anik jugaṫ nahee paa▫i▫aa.
By various devices, I could not find You.
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਚਾਕਰ ਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
गुरि चाकर लै लाइआ ॥१॥
Gur chaakar læ laa▫i▫aa. ||1||
Taking hold of me, the Guru has made me Your slave. ||1||
|
ਮਾਰੇ ਪੰਚ ਬਿਖਾਦੀਆ ॥
मारे पंच बिखादीआ ॥
Maaré panch bikʰaaḋee▫aa.
I have conquered the five tyrants.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਦਲੁ ਸਾਧਿਆ ॥੨॥
गुर किरपा ते दलु साधिआ ॥२॥
Gur kirpaa ṫé ḋal saaḋʰi▫aa. ||2||
By Guru’s Grace, I have vanquished the army of evil. ||2||
|
ਬਖਸੀਸ ਵਜਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮ ॥
बखसीस वजहु मिलि एकु नाम ॥
Bakʰsees vajahu mil ék naam.
I have received the One Name as His bounty and blessing.
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
सूख सहज आनंद बिस्राम ॥३॥
Sookʰ sahj aananḋ bisraam. ||3||
Now, I dwell in peace, poise and bliss. ||3||
