ਮਾਨੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਦੋਊ ਸਮਾਨੇ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਡਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਗਿਓ ॥
मानु अभिमानु दोऊ समाने मसतकु डारि गुर पागिओ ॥
Maan abʰimaan ḋo▫oo samaané masṫak daar gur paagi▫o.
Honor and dishonor are the same to me; I have placed my forehead upon the Guru’s Feet.

ਸੰਪਤ ਹਰਖੁ ਨ ਆਪਤ ਦੂਖਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੈ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥੧॥
स्मपत हरखु न आपत दूखा रंगु ठाकुरै लागिओ ॥१॥
Sampaṫ harakʰ na aapaṫ ḋookʰaa rang tʰaakuræ laagi▫o. ||1||
Wealth does not excite me, and misfortune does not disturb me; I have embraced love for my Lord and Master. ||1||
|
ਬਾਸ ਬਾਸਰੀ ਏਕੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਗਿਓ ॥
बास बासरी एकै सुआमी उदिआन द्रिसटागिओ ॥
Baas baasree ékæ su▫aamee uḋi▫aan ḋaristaagi▫o.
The One Lord and Master dwells in the home; He is seen in the wilderness as well.

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸੰਤ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬਾਗਿਓ ॥੨॥
निरभउ भए संत भ्रमु डारिओ पूरन सरबागिओ ॥२॥
Nirbʰa▫o bʰa▫é sanṫ bʰaram ḋaari▫o pooran sarbaagi▫o. ||2||
I have become fearless; the Saint has removed my doubts. The All-knowing Lord is pervading everywhere. ||2||

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਬੁਰੋ ਨ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥
जो किछु करतै कारणु कीनो मनि बुरो न लागिओ ॥
Jo kichʰ karṫæ kaaraṇ keeno man buro na laagi▫o.
Whatever the Creator does, my mind is not troubled.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸੋਇਓ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗਿਓ ॥੩॥
साधसंगति परसादि संतन कै सोइओ मनु जागिओ ॥३॥
Saaḋʰsangaṫ parsaaḋ sanṫan kæ so▫i▫o man jaagi▫o. ||3||
By the Grace of the Saints and the Company of the Holy, my sleeping mind has been awakened. ||3||

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਓੜਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਓ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਣਾਗਿਓ ॥
जन नानक ओड़ि तुहारी परिओ आइओ सरणागिओ ॥
Jan Naanak oṛ ṫuhaaree pari▫o aa▫i▫o sarṇaagi▫o.
Servant Nanak seeks Your Support; he has come to Your Sanctuary.

ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੬੦॥
नाम रंग सहज रस माणे फिरि दूखु न लागिओ ॥४॥२॥१६०॥
Naam rang sahj ras maaṇé fir ḋookʰ na laagi▫o. ||4||2||160||
In the Love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he enjoys intuitive peace; pain no longer touches him. ||4||2||160||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
गउड़ी मा₂ला महला ५ ॥
Ga▫oṛee maalaa mėhlaa 5.
Gauree Maalaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਪਾਇਆ ਲਾਲੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
पाइआ लालु रतनु मनि पाइआ ॥
Paa▫i▫aa laal raṫan man paa▫i▫aa.
I have found the jewel of my Beloved within my mind.

ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तनु सीतलु मनु सीतलु थीआ सतगुर सबदि समाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ṫan seeṫal man seeṫal ṫʰee▫aa saṫgur sabaḋ samaa▫i▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
My body is cooled, my mind is cooled and soothed, and I am absorbed into the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||

ਲਾਥੀ ਭੂਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸਭ ਲਾਥੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥
लाथी भूख त्रिसन सभ लाथी चिंता सगल बिसारी ॥
Laaṫʰee bʰookʰ ṫarisan sabʰ laaṫʰee chinṫaa sagal bisaaree.
My hunger has departed, my thirst has totally departed, and all my anxiety is forgotten.

ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਧਰਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਤੋ ਜਗੁ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
करु मसतकि गुरि पूरै धरिओ मनु जीतो जगु सारी ॥१॥
Kar masṫak gur pooræ ḋʰari▫o man jeeṫo jag saaree. ||1||
The Perfect Guru has placed His Hand upon my forehead; conquering my mind, I have conquered the whole world. ||1||
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਇ ਰਹੇ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਅਬ ਚੂਕੇ ॥
त्रिपति अघाइ रहे रिद अंतरि डोलन ते अब चूके ॥
Ṫaripaṫ agʰaa▫é rahé riḋ anṫar dolan ṫé ab chooké.
Satisfied and satiated, I remain steady within my heart, and now, I do not waver at all.

ਅਖੁਟੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੋਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਰੇ ਮੂਕੇ ॥੨॥
अखुटु खजाना सतिगुरि दीआ तोटि नही रे मूके ॥२॥
Akʰut kʰajaanaa saṫgur ḋee▫aa ṫot nahee ré mooké. ||2||
The True Guru has given me the inexhaustible treasure; it never decreases, and never runs out. ||2||
|
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਐਸੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
अचरजु एकु सुनहु रे भाई गुरि ऐसी बूझ बुझाई ॥
Achraj ék sunhu ré bʰaa▫ee gur æsee boojʰ bujʰaa▫ee.
Listen to this wonder, O Siblings of Destiny: the Guru has given me this understanding.

ਲਾਹਿ ਪਰਦਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਉ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਤਉ ਬਿਸਰੀ ਤਾਤਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
लाहि परदा ठाकुरु जउ भेटिओ तउ बिसरी ताति पराई ॥३॥
Laahi parḋaa tʰaakur ja▫o bʰéti▫o ṫa▫o bisree ṫaaṫ paraa▫ee. ||3||
I threw off the veil of illusion, when I met my Lord and Master; then, I forgot my jealousy of others. ||3||
|
ਕਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਏਹੁ ਅਚੰਭਉ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
कहिओ न जाई एहु अच्मभउ सो जानै जिनि चाखिआ ॥
Kahi▫o na jaa▫ee éhu achambʰa▫o so jaanæ jin chaakʰi▫aa.
This is a wonder which cannot be described. They alone know it, who have tasted it.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਭਏ ਬਿਗਾਸਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬੧॥
कहु नानक सच भए बिगासा गुरि निधानु रिदै लै राखिआ ॥४॥३॥१६१॥
Kaho Naanak sach bʰa▫é bigaasaa gur niḋʰaan riḋæ læ raakʰi▫aa. ||4||3||161||
Says Nanak, the Truth has been revealed to me. The Guru has given me the treasure; I have taken it and enshrined it within my heart. ||4||3||161||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
गउड़ी माला महला ५ ॥
Ga▫oṛee maalaa mėhlaa 5.
Gauree Maalaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਉਬਰਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ॥
उबरत राजा राम की सरणी ॥
Ubraṫ raajaa raam kee sarṇee.
Those who take to the Sanctuary of the Lord, the King, are saved.
|
ਸਰਬ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰਤੇ ਧਰਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सरब लोक माइआ के मंडल गिरि गिरि परते धरणी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sarab lok maa▫i▫aa ké mandal gir gir parṫé ḋʰarṇee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
All other people, in the mansion of Maya, fall flat on their faces on the ground. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਨ ਇਉ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
सासत सिंम्रिति बेद बीचारे महा पुरखन इउ कहिआ ॥
Saasaṫ simriṫ béḋ beechaaré mahaa purkʰan i▫o kahi▫aa.
The great men have studied the Shastras, the Smritis and the Vedas, and they have said this:

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਸੂਖੁ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
बिनु हरि भजन नाही निसतारा सूखु न किनहूं लहिआ ॥१॥
Bin har bʰajan naahee nisṫaaraa sookʰ na kinhooⁿ lahi▫aa. ||1||
Without the Lord’s meditation, there is no emancipation, and no one has ever found peace. ||1||
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਕੀ ਲਖਮੀ ਜੋਰੀ ਬੂਝਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਲਹਰੇ ॥
तीनि भवन की लखमी जोरी बूझत नाही लहरे ॥
Ṫeen bʰavan kee lakʰmee joree boojʰaṫ naahee lahré.
People may accumulate the wealth of the three worlds, but the waves of greed are still not subdued.

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਹਾ ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤੋ ਪਹਰੇ ਪਹਰੇ ॥੨॥
बिनु हरि भगति कहा थिति पावै फिरतो पहरे पहरे ॥२॥
Bin har bʰagaṫ kahaa ṫʰiṫ paavæ firṫo pahré pahré. ||2||
Without devotional worship of the Lord, where can anyone find stability? People wander around endlessly. ||2||
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਕਰਤ ਮਨ ਮੋਹਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਕਾਮਾ ॥
अनिक बिलास करत मन मोहन पूरन होत न कामा ॥
Anik bilaas karaṫ man mohan pooran hoṫ na kaamaa.
People engage in all sorts of mind-enticing pastimes, but their passions are not fulfilled.

ਜਲਤੋ ਜਲਤੋ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਬੂਝਤ ਸਗਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਥੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
जलतो जलतो कबहू न बूझत सगल ब्रिथे बिनु नामा ॥३॥
Jalṫo jalṫo kabhoo na boojʰaṫ sagal bariṫʰé bin naamaa. ||3||
They burn and burn, and are never satisfied; without the Lord’s Name, it is all useless. ||3||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਇਹੈ ਸਾਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
हरि का नामु जपहु मेरे मीता इहै सार सुखु पूरा ॥
Har kaa naam japahu méré meeṫaa ihæ saar sukʰ pooraa.
Chant the Name of the Lord, my friend; this is the essence of perfect peace.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੬੨॥
साधसंगति जनम मरणु निवारै नानक जन की धूरा ॥४॥४॥१६२॥
Saaḋʰsangaṫ janam maraṇ nivaaræ Naanak jan kee ḋʰooraa. ||4||4||162||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, birth and death are ended. Nanak is the dust of the feet of the humble. ||4||4||162||

Mo ka▫o ih biḋʰ ko samjʰaavæ.
Who can help me understand my condition?

ਕਰਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਜਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
करता होइ जनावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Karṫaa ho▫é janaavæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Only the Creator knows it. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਇਨਹਿ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
अनजानत किछु इनहि कमानो जप तप कछू न साधा ॥
Anjaanaṫ kichʰ inėh kamaano jap ṫap kachʰoo na saaḋʰaa.
This person does things in ignorance; he does not chant in meditation, and does not perform any deep, self-disciplined meditation.

ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਲੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦਉਰਾਇਓ ਕਵਨ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥੧॥
दह दिसि लै इहु मनु दउराइओ कवन करम करि बाधा ॥१॥
Ḋah ḋis læ ih man ḋa▫uraa▫i▫o kavan karam kar baaḋʰaa. ||1||
This mind wanders around in the ten directions - how can it be restrained? ||1||
|
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਉ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
मन तन धन भूमि का ठाकुरु हउ इस का इहु मेरा ॥
Man ṫan ḋʰan bʰoom kaa tʰaakur ha▫o is kaa ih méraa.
I am the lord, the master of my mind, body, wealth and lands. These are mine.
