हसत चरन संत टहल कमाईऐ ॥
Hasaṫ charan sanṫ tahal kamaa▫ee▫æ.
With your hands and feet, work for the Saints.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
नानक इहु संजमु प्रभ किरपा पाईऐ ॥१०॥
Naanak ih sanjam parabʰ kirpaa paa▫ee▫æ. ||10||
O Nanak! This way of life is obtained by God’s Grace. ||10||

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਸ੍ਵਾਦੁ ॥
एको एकु बखानीऐ बिरला जाणै स्वादु ॥
Éko ék bakʰaanee▫æ birlaa jaaṇæ savaaḋ.
Describe the Lord as the One, the One and Only. How rare are those who know the taste of this essence.

ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ॥੧੧॥
गुण गोबिंद न जाणीऐ नानक सभु बिसमादु ॥११॥
Guṇ gobinḋ na jaaṇee▫æ Naanak sabʰ bismaaḋ. ||11||
The Glories of the Lord of the Universe cannot be known. O Nanak! He is totally amazing and wonderful! ||11||

ਏਕਾਦਸੀ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਪੇਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੁ ॥
एकादसी निकटि पेखहु हरि रामु ॥
Ékaaḋasee nikat pékʰahu har raam.
The eleventh day of the lunar cycle: Behold the Lord, the Lord, near at hand.

ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਬਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
इंद्री बसि करि सुणहु हरि नामु ॥
Inḋree bas kar suṇhu har naam.
Subdue the desires of your sexual organs, and listen to the Lord’s Name.
|
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਦਇਆ ॥
मनि संतोखु सरब जीअ दइआ ॥
Man sanṫokʰ sarab jee▫a ḋa▫i▫aa.
Let your mind be content, and be kind to all beings.
|
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਰਤੁ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਭਇਆ ॥
इन बिधि बरतु स्मपूरन भइआ ॥
In biḋʰ baraṫ sampooran bʰa▫i▫aa.
In this way, your fast will be successful.

ਧਾਵਤ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਕ ਠਾਇ ॥
धावत मनु राखै इक ठाइ ॥
Ḋʰaavaṫ man raakʰæ ik tʰaa▫é.
Keep your wandering mind restrained in one place.
|
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੁਧੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
मनु तनु सुधु जपत हरि नाइ ॥
Man ṫan suḋʰ japaṫ har naa▫é.
Your mind and body shall become pure, chanting the Lord’s Name.

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥
सभ महि पूरि रहे पारब्रहम ॥
Sabʰ mėh poor rahé paarbarahm.
The Supreme Lord God is pervading amongst all.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਅਟਲ ਏਹੁ ਧਰਮ ॥੧੧॥
नानक हरि कीरतनु करि अटल एहु धरम ॥११॥
Naanak har keerṫan kar atal éhu ḋʰaram. ||11||
O Nanak! Sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises; this alone is the eternal faith of Dharma. ||11||

ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
दुरमति हरी सेवा करी भेटे साध क्रिपाल ॥
Ḋurmaṫ haree sévaa karee bʰété saaḋʰ kirpaal.
Evil-mindedness is eliminated, by meeting with and serving the compassionate Holy Saints.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੧੨॥
नानक प्रभ सिउ मिलि रहे बिनसे सगल जंजाल ॥१२॥
Naanak parabʰ si▫o mil rahé binsé sagal janjaal. ||12||
Nanak is merged with God; all his entanglements have come to an end. ||12||

ਦੁਆਦਸੀ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
दुआदसी दानु नामु इसनानु ॥
Ḋu▫aaḋasee ḋaan naam isnaan.
The twelfth day of the lunar cycle: Dedicate yourself to giving charity, chanting the Naam and purification.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
हरि की भगति करहु तजि मानु ॥
Har kee bʰagaṫ karahu ṫaj maan.
Worship the Lord with devotion, and get rid of your pride.
|
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥
हरि अमृत पान करहु साधसंगि ॥
Har amriṫ paan karahu saaḋʰsang.
drink the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord’s Name, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੈ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
मन त्रिपतासै कीरतन प्रभ रंगि ॥
Man ṫaripṫaasæ keerṫan parabʰ rang.
The mind is satisfied by lovingly singing the Kirtan of God’s Praises.

ਕੋਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਭ ਕਉ ਸੰਤੋਖੈ ॥
कोमल बाणी सभ कउ संतोखै ॥
Komal baṇee sabʰ ka▫o sanṫokʰæ.
The Sweet Words of His Bani soothe everyone.

ਪੰਚ ਭੂ ਆਤਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਪੋਖੈ ॥
पंच भू आतमा हरि नाम रसि पोखै ॥
Panch bʰoo aaṫmaa har naam ras pokʰæ.
The soul, the subtle essence of the five elements, cherishes the Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਏਹ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
गुर पूरे ते एह निहचउ पाईऐ ॥
Gur pooré ṫé éh nihcha▫o paa▫ee▫æ.
This faith is obtained from the Perfect Guru.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥੧੨॥
नानक राम रमत फिरि जोनि न आईऐ ॥१२॥
Naanak raam ramaṫ fir jon na aa▫ee▫æ. ||12||
O Nanak! Dwelling upon the Lord, you shall not enter the womb of reincarnation again. ||12||

ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
तीनि गुणा महि बिआपिआ पूरन होत न काम ॥
Ṫeen guṇaa mėh bi▫aapi▫aa pooran hoṫ na kaam.
Engrossed in the three qualities, one’s efforts do not succeed.

ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਛੂਟੈ ਨਾਮ ॥੧੩॥
पतित उधारणु मनि बसै नानक छूटै नाम ॥१३॥
Paṫiṫ uḋʰaaraṇ man basæ Naanak chʰootæ naam. ||13||
When the Saving Grace of sinners dwells in the mind, O Nanak! Then one is saved by the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||13||

ਤ੍ਰਉਦਸੀ ਤੀਨਿ ਤਾਪ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
त्रउदसी तीनि ताप संसार ॥
Ṫar▫udsee ṫeen ṫaap sansaar.
The thirteenth day of the lunar cycle: The world is in the fever of the three qualities.

ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਨਰਕ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥
आवत जात नरक अवतार ॥
Aavaṫ jaaṫ narak avṫaar.
It comes and goes, and is reincarnated in hell.
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨੁ ਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
हरि हरि भजनु न मन महि आइओ ॥
Har har bʰajan na man mėh aa▫i▫o.
Meditation on the Lord, Har, Har, does not enter into the minds of the people.
|
ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਗਾਇਓ ॥
सुख सागर प्रभु निमख न गाइओ ॥
Sukʰ saagar parabʰ nimakʰ na gaa▫i▫o.
They do not sing the Praises of God, the Ocean of peace, even for an instant.
|
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਦੇਹ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਧਿਓ ॥
हरख सोग का देह करि बाधिओ ॥
Harakʰ sog kaa ḋéh kar baaḋʰi▫o.
This body is the embodiment of pleasure and pain.
|
ਦੀਰਘ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਸਾਧਿਓ ॥
दीरघ रोगु माइआ आसाधिओ ॥
Ḋeeragʰ rog maa▫i▫aa aasaaḋʰi▫o.
It suffers from the chronic and incurable disease of Maya.
|
ਦਿਨਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਤ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
दिनहि बिकार करत स्रमु पाइओ ॥
Ḋinėh bikaar karaṫ saram paa▫i▫o.
By day, people practice corruption, wearing themselves out.
|
ਨੈਨੀ ਨੀਦ ਸੁਪਨ ਬਰੜਾਇਓ ॥
नैनी नीद सुपन बरड़ाइओ ॥
Nænee neeḋ supan barṛaa▫i▫o.
And then with sleep in their eyes, they mutter in dreams.
|
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਏਹ ਹਾਲ ॥
हरि बिसरत होवत एह हाल ॥
Har bisraṫ hovaṫ éh haal.
Forgetting the Lord, this is their condition.
|
ਸਰਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੧੩॥
सरनि नानक प्रभ पुरख दइआल ॥१३॥
Saran Naanak parabʰ purakʰ ḋa▫i▫aal. ||13||
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God, the kind and compassionate Primal Being. ||13||

ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਚਉਦਹ ਭਵਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਰਾਮ ॥
चारि कुंट चउदह भवन सगल बिआपत राम ॥
Chaar kunt cha▫oḋah bʰavan sagal bi▫aapaṫ raam.
The Lord is pervading in all the four directions and the fourteen worlds.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਊਨ ਨ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ॥੧੪॥
नानक ऊन न देखीऐ पूरन ता के काम ॥१४॥
Naanak oon na ḋékʰee▫æ pooran ṫaa ké kaam. ||14||
O Nanak! He is not seen to be lacking anything; His works are perfectly complete. ||14||

The fourteenth day of the lunar cycle: God Himself is in all four directions.

ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥
सगल भवन पूरन परताप ॥
Sagal bʰavan pooran parṫaap.
On all the worlds, His radiant glory is perfect.
|
ਦਸੇ ਦਿਸਾ ਰਵਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥
दसे दिसा रविआ प्रभु एकु ॥
Ḋasé ḋisaa ravi▫aa parabʰ ék.
The One God is diffused in the ten directions.
|
ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖੁ ॥
धरनि अकास सभ महि प्रभ पेखु ॥
Ḋʰaran akaas sabʰ mėh parabʰ pékʰ.
Behold God in all the earth and sky.
|
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਬਨ ਪਰਬਤ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥
जल थल बन परबत पाताल ॥
Jal ṫʰal ban parbaṫ paaṫaal.
In the water, on the land, in the forests and mountains, and in the nether regions of the underworld,
|
ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਤਹ ਬਸਹਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
परमेस्वर तह बसहि दइआल ॥
Parmésvar ṫah basėh ḋa▫i▫aal.
the Merciful Transcendent Lord is abiding.
|
ਸੂਖਮ ਅਸਥੂਲ ਸਗਲ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
सूखम असथूल सगल भगवान ॥
Sookʰam asṫʰool sagal bʰagvaan.
The Lord God is in all mind and matter, subtle and manifest.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨ ॥੧੪॥
नानक गुरमुखि ब्रहमु पछान ॥१४॥
Naanak gurmukʰ barahm pachʰaan. ||14||
O Nanak! The Gurmukh realizes God. ||14||

ਆਤਮੁ ਜੀਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
आतमु जीता गुरमती गुण गाए गोबिंद ॥
Aaṫam jeeṫaa gurmaṫee guṇ gaa▫é gobinḋ.
The soul is conquered, through the Guru’s Teachings, singing the Glories of God.

ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੧੫॥
संत प्रसादी भै मिटे नानक बिनसी चिंद ॥१५॥
Sanṫ parsaadee bʰæ mité Naanak binsee chinḋ. ||15||
By the Grace of the Saints, fear is dispelled, O Nanak! And anxiety is ended. ||15||

ਅਮਾਵਸ ਆਤਮ ਸੁਖੀ ਭਏ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
अमावस आतम सुखी भए संतोखु दीआ गुरदेव ॥
Amaavas aaṫam sukʰee bʰa▫é sanṫokʰ ḋee▫aa gurḋév.
The day of the new moon: My soul is at peace; the Divine Guru has blessed me with contentment.
