ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
अंतरि हरि गुरू धिआइदा वडी वडिआई ॥
Anṫar har guroo ḋʰi▫aa▫iḋaa vadee vadi▫aa▫ee.
Great is the greatness of the Guru, who meditates on the Lord within.

ਤੁਸਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਘਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਘਟਾਈ ॥
तुसि दिती पूरै सतिगुरू घटै नाही इकु तिलु किसै दी घटाई ॥
Ṫus ḋiṫee pooræ saṫguroo gʰatæ naahee ik ṫil kisæ ḋee gʰataa▫ee.
By His Pleasure, the Lord has bestowed this upon the Perfect True Guru; it is not diminished one bit by anyone’s efforts.

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਵਲਿ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਸਭ ਲੋੁਕਾਈ ॥
सचु साहिबु सतिगुरू कै वलि है तां झखि झखि मरै सभ लुोकाई ॥
Sach saahib saṫguroo kæ val hæ ṫaaⁿ jʰakʰ jʰakʰ maræ sabʰ lokaa▫ee.
The True Lord and Master is on the side of the True Guru; and so, all those who oppose Him waste away to death in anger, envy and conflict.

ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥
निंदका के मुह काले करे हरि करतै आपि वधाई ॥
Ninḋkaa ké muh kaalé karé har karṫæ aap vaḋʰaa▫ee.
The Lord, the Creator, blackens the faces of the slanderers, and increases the glory of the Guru.

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤਿਉ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥
जिउ जिउ निंदक निंद करहि तिउ तिउ नित नित चड़ै सवाई ॥
Ji▫o ji▫o ninḋak ninḋ karahi ṫi▫o ṫi▫o niṫ niṫ chaṛæ savaa▫ee.
As the slanderers spread their slander, so does the Guru’s glory increase day by day.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਣਿ ਸਭ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
जन नानक हरि आराधिआ तिनि पैरी आणि सभ पाई ॥१॥
Jan Naanak har aaraaḋʰi▫aa ṫin pæree aaṇ sabʰ paa▫ee. ||1||
Servant Nanak worships the Lord, who makes everyone fall at His Feet. ||1||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਗਣਤ ਜਿ ਰਖੈ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗਇਆ ॥
सतिगुर सेती गणत जि रखै हलतु पलतु सभु तिस का गइआ ॥
Saṫgur séṫee gaṇaṫ jė rakʰæ halaṫ palaṫ sabʰ ṫis kaa ga▫i▫aa.
One who enters into a calculated relationship with the True Guru loses everything, this world and the next.

ਨਿਤ ਝਹੀਆ ਪਾਏ ਝਗੂ ਸੁਟੇ ਝਖਦਾ ਝਖਦਾ ਝੜਿ ਪਇਆ ॥
नित झहीआ पाए झगू सुटे झखदा झखदा झड़ि पइआ ॥
Niṫ jʰahee▫aa paa▫é jʰagoo suté jʰakʰ▫ḋaa jʰakʰ▫ḋaa jʰaṛ pa▫i▫aa.
He grinds his teeth continually and foams at the mouth; screaming in anger, he perishes.

ਨਿਤ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਧਨੁ ਭੀ ਉਡਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
नित उपाव करै माइआ धन कारणि अगला धनु भी उडि गइआ ॥
Niṫ upaav karæ maa▫i▫aa ḋʰan kaaraṇ aglaa ḋʰan bʰee ud ga▫i▫aa.
He continually chases after Maya and wealth, but even his own wealth flies away.

ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਖਟੇ ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਖਾਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਇਆ ॥
किआ ओहु खटे किआ ओहु खावै जिसु अंदरि सहसा दुखु पइआ ॥
Ki▫aa oh kʰaté ki▫aa oh kʰaavæ jis anḋar sahsaa ḋukʰ pa▫i▫aa.
What shall he earn, and what shall he eat? Within his heart, there is only cynicism and pain.

ਨਿਰਵੈਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਜਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਰਚਾਏ ਸਭੁ ਪਾਪੁ ਜਗਤੈ ਕਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
निरवैरै नालि जि वैरु रचाए सभु पापु जगतै का तिनि सिरि लइआ ॥
Nirværæ naal jė vær rachaa▫é sabʰ paap jagṫæ kaa ṫin sir la▫i▫aa.
One who hates the One who has no hatred, shall bear the load of all the sins of the world on his head.

ਓਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਢੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਮੁਹਿ ਅੰਬੁ ਪਇਆ ॥
ओसु अगै पिछै ढोई नाही जिसु अंदरि निंदा मुहि अ्मबु पइआ ॥
Os agæ pichʰæ dʰo▫ee naahee jis anḋar ninḋaa muhi amb pa▫i▫aa.
He shall find no shelter here or hereafter; his mouth blisters with the slander in his heart.

ਜੇ ਸੁਇਨੇ ਨੋ ਓਹੁ ਹਥੁ ਪਾਏ ਤਾ ਖੇਹੂ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਲਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
जे सुइने नो ओहु हथु पाए ता खेहू सेती रलि गइआ ॥
Jé su▫iné no oh haṫʰ paa▫é ṫaa kʰéhoo séṫee ral ga▫i▫aa.
If gold comes into his hands, it turns to dust.
|
ਜੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਓਹੁ ਆਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
जे गुर की सरणी फिरि ओहु आवै ता पिछले अउगण बखसि लइआ ॥
Jé gur kee sarṇee fir oh aavæ ṫaa pichʰlé a▫ugaṇ bakʰas la▫i▫aa.
But if he should come again to the Sanctuary of the Guru, then even his past sins shall be forgiven.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਗਇਆ ॥੨॥
जन नानक अनदिनु नामु धिआइआ हरि सिमरत किलविख पाप गइआ ॥२॥
Jan Naanak an▫ḋin naam ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa har simraṫ kilvikʰ paap ga▫i▫aa. ||2||
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, night and day. Remembering the Lord in meditation, wickedness and sins are erased. ||2||

ਤੂਹੈ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਉਪਰਿ ਤੂ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
तूहै सचा सचु तू सभ दू उपरि तू दीबाणु ॥
Ṫoohæ sachaa sach ṫoo sabʰ ḋoo upar ṫoo ḋeebaaṇ.
You are the Truest of the True; Your Regal Court is the most exalted of all.
|
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
जो तुधु सचु धिआइदे सचु सेवनि सचे तेरा माणु ॥
Jo ṫuḋʰ sach ḋʰi▫aa▫iḋé sach sévan saché ṫéraa maaṇ.
Those who meditate on You, O True Lord, serve the Truth; O True Lord, they take pride in You.

ਓਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
ओना अंदरि सचु मुख उजले सचु बोलनि सचे तेरा ताणु ॥
Onaa anḋar sach mukʰ ujlé sach bolan saché ṫéraa ṫaaṇ.
Within them is the Truth; their faces are radiant, and they speak the Truth. O True Lord, You are their strength.

ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
से भगत जिनी गुरमुखि सालाहिआ सचु सबदु नीसाणु ॥
Sé bʰagaṫ jinee gurmukʰ salaahi▫aa sach sabaḋ neesaaṇ.
Those who, as Gurmukh, praise You are Your devotees; they have the insignia and the banner of the Shabad, the True Word of God.

ਸਚੁ ਜਿ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੧੩॥
सचु जि सचे सेवदे तिन वारी सद कुरबाणु ॥१३॥
Sach jė saché sévḋé ṫin vaaree saḋ kurbaaṇ. ||13||
I am truly a sacrifice, forever devoted to those who serve the True Lord. ||13||

Shalok, Fourth Mehl:

ਧੁਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਈ ਹੁਣਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
धुरि मारे पूरै सतिगुरू सेई हुणि सतिगुरि मारे ॥
Ḋʰur maaré pooræ saṫguroo sé▫ee huṇ saṫgur maaré.
Those who were cursed by the Perfect True Guru, from the very beginning, are even now cursed by the True Guru.

ਜੇ ਮੇਲਣ ਨੋ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
जे मेलण नो बहुतेरा लोचीऐ न देई मिलण करतारे ॥
Jé mélaṇ no bahuṫéraa lochee▫æ na ḋé▫ee milaṇ karṫaaré.
Even though they may have a great longing to associate with the Guru, the Creator does not allow it.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਲਹਨਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
सतसंगति ढोई ना लहनि विचि संगति गुरि वीचारे ॥
Saṫsangaṫ dʰo▫ee naa lahan vich sangaṫ gur veechaaré.
They shall not find shelter in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; in the Sangat, the Guru has proclaimed this.

ਕੋਈ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਹੁਣਿ ਓਨਾ ਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮੁ ਜੰਦਾਰੇ ॥
कोई जाइ मिलै हुणि ओना नो तिसु मारे जमु जंदारे ॥
Ko▫ee jaa▫é milæ huṇ onaa no ṫis maaré jam janḋaaré.
Whoever goes out to meet them now, will be destroyed by the tyrant, the Messenger of Death.

ਗੁਰਿ ਬਾਬੈ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਸੇ ਫਿਟੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਗਦਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
गुरि बाबै फिटके से फिटे गुरि अंगदि कीते कूड़िआरे ॥
Gur baabæ fitké sé fité gur angaḋ keeṫé kooṛi▫aaré.
Those who were condemned by Guru Nanak were declared counterfeit by Guru Angad as well.

ਗੁਰਿ ਤੀਜੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਿਆ ਹਥਿ ਏਨਾ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ॥
गुरि तीजी पीड़ी वीचारिआ किआ हथि एना वेचारे ॥
Gur ṫeejee peeṛee veechaari▫aa ki▫aa haṫʰ énaa véchaaré.
The Guru of the third generation thought, “What lies in the hands of these poor people”?

ਗੁਰੁ ਚਉਥੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
गुरु चउथी पीड़ी टिकिआ तिनि निंदक दुसट सभि तारे ॥
Gur cha▫uṫʰee peeṛee tiki▫aa ṫin ninḋak ḋusat sabʰ ṫaaré.
The Guru of the fourth generation saved all these slanderers and evil-doers.

ਕੋਈ ਪੁਤੁ ਸਿਖੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
कोई पुतु सिखु सेवा करे सतिगुरू की तिसु कारज सभि सवारे ॥
Ko▫ee puṫ sikʰ sévaa karé saṫguroo kee ṫis kaaraj sabʰ savaaré.
If any son or Sikh serves the True Guru, then all of his affairs will be resolved.

ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਪੁਤੁ ਧਨੁ ਲਖਮੀ ਖੜਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
जो इछै सो फलु पाइसी पुतु धनु लखमी खड़ि मेले हरि निसतारे ॥
Jo ichʰæ so fal paa▫isee puṫ ḋʰan lakʰmee kʰaṛ mélé har nisṫaaré.
He obtains the fruits of his desires - children, wealth, property, union with the Lord and emancipation.

ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
सभि निधान सतिगुरू विचि जिसु अंदरि हरि उर धारे ॥
Sabʰ niḋʰaan saṫguroo vich jis anḋar har ur ḋʰaaré.
All treasures are in the True Guru, who has enshrined the Lord within the heart.
|
ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਲਿਲਾਰੇ ॥
सो पाए पूरा सतिगुरू जिसु लिखिआ लिखतु लिलारे ॥
So paa▫é pooraa saṫguroo jis likʰi▫aa likʰaṫ lilaaré.
He alone obtains the Perfect True Guru, on whose forehead such blessed destiny is preordained.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਧੂੜਿ ਤਿਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਮਿਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥
जनु नानकु मागै धूड़ि तिन जो गुरसिख मित पिआरे ॥१॥
Jan Naanak maagæ ḋʰooṛ ṫin jo gursikʰ miṫ pi▫aaré. ||1||
Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of those GurSikhs who love the Lord, their Friend. ||1||
