ਨਿਰਭੈ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੇ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਗਹਿਓ ਨ ਰਾਮ ਜਹਾਜੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
निरभै होइ न हरि भजे मन बउरा रे गहिओ न राम जहाजु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nirbʰæ ho▫é na har bʰajé man ba▫uraa ré gahi▫o na raam jahaaj. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
You have not meditated fearlessly on the Lord, O crazy mind; you have not embarked upon the Lord’s Boat. ||1||Pause||

ਮਰਕਟ ਮੁਸਟੀ ਅਨਾਜ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਲੀਨੀ ਹਾਥੁ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥
मरकट मुसटी अनाज की मन बउरा रे लीनी हाथु पसारि ॥
Markat mustee anaaj kee man ba▫uraa ré leenee haaṫʰ pasaar.
The monkey stretches out its hand, O crazy mind, and takes a handful of corn;

ਛੂਟਨ ਕੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਪਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਨਾਚਿਓ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਬਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
छूटन को सहसा परिआ मन बउरा रे नाचिओ घर घर बारि ॥२॥
Chʰootan ko sahsaa pari▫aa man ba▫uraa ré naachi▫o gʰar gʰar baar. ||2||
now unable to escape, O crazy mind, it is made to dance door to door. ||2||
|
ਜਿਉ ਨਲਨੀ ਸੂਅਟਾ ਗਹਿਓ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਮਾਯਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
जिउ नलनी सूअटा गहिओ मन बउरा रे माया इहु बिउहारु ॥
Ji▫o nalnee soo▫ataa gahi▫o man ba▫uraa ré maa▫yaa ih bi▫uhaar.
Like the parrot caught in the trap, O crazy mind, you are trapped by the affairs of Maya.

ਜੈਸਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਕਾ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਤਿਉ ਪਸਰਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
जैसा रंगु कसु्मभ का मन बउरा रे तिउ पसरिओ पासारु ॥३॥
Jæsaa rang kasumbʰ kaa man ba▫uraa ré ṫi▫o pasri▫o paasaar. ||3||
Like the weak dye of the safflower, O crazy mind, so is the expanse of this world of form and substance. ||3||

ਨਾਵਨ ਕਉ ਤੀਰਥ ਘਨੇ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਪੂਜਨ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਵ ॥
नावन कउ तीरथ घने मन बउरा रे पूजन कउ बहु देव ॥
Naavan ka▫o ṫiraṫʰ gʰané man ba▫uraa ré poojan ka▫o baho ḋév.
There are so many holy shrines in which to bathe, O crazy mind, and so many gods to worship.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੪॥੧॥੬॥੫੭॥
कहु कबीर छूटनु नही मन बउरा रे छूटनु हरि की सेव ॥४॥१॥६॥५७॥
Kaho Kabeer chʰootan nahee man ba▫uraa ré chʰootan har kee sév. ||4||1||6||57||
Says Kabir, you shall not be saved like this, O crazy mind; only by serving the Lord will you find release. ||4||1||6||57||

ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਦਹੈ ਪਵਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਗਨੈ ਤਸਕਰੁ ਨੇਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
अगनि न दहै पवनु नही मगनै तसकरु नेरि न आवै ॥
Agan na ḋahæ pavan nahee magnæ ṫaskar nér na aavæ.
Fire does not burn it, and the wind does not blow it away; thieves cannot get near it.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਚਉਨੀ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
राम नाम धनु करि संचउनी सो धनु कत ही न जावै ॥१॥
Raam naam ḋʰan kar sanch▫unee so ḋʰan kaṫ hee na jaavæ. ||1||
Accumulate the wealth of the Lord’s Name; that wealth does not go anywhere. ||1||

ਹਮਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਧਉ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਧਰਣੀਧਰੁ ਇਹੈ ਸਾਰ ਧਨੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
हमरा धनु माधउ गोबिंदु धरणीधरु इहै सार धनु कहीऐ ॥
Hamraa ḋʰan maaḋʰa▫o gobinḋ ḋʰarṇeeḋʰar ihæ saar ḋʰan kahee▫æ.
My wealth is God, the Lord of Wealth, the Lord of the Universe, the Support of the earth: this is called the most excellent wealth.

ਜੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਰਾਜਿ ਨ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जो सुखु प्रभ गोबिंद की सेवा सो सुखु राजि न लहीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jo sukʰ parabʰ gobinḋ kee sévaa so sukʰ raaj na lahee▫æ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The peace which is obtained by serving God, the Lord of the Universe - that peace cannot be found in kingdoms or power. ||1||Pause||

ਇਸੁ ਧਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਸਿਵ ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਖੋਜਤ ਭਏ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
इसु धन कारणि सिव सनकादिक खोजत भए उदासी ॥
Is ḋʰan kaaraṇ siv sankaaḋik kʰojaṫ bʰa▫é uḋaasee.
Shiva and Sanak, in their search for this wealth, became Udaasees, and renounced the world.

ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕੰਦੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਨੁ ਪਰੈ ਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥੨॥
मनि मुकंदु जिहबा नाराइनु परै न जम की फासी ॥२॥
Man mukanḋ jihbaa naaraa▫in paræ na jam kee faasee. ||2||
One whose mind is filled with the Lord of liberation, and whose tongue chants the Name of the Lord, shall not be caught by the noose of Death. ||2||

ਨਿਜ ਧਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਤਾਸੁ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
निज धनु गिआनु भगति गुरि दीनी तासु सुमति मनु लागा ॥
Nij ḋʰan gi▫aan bʰagaṫ gur ḋeenee ṫaas sumaṫ man laagaa.
My own wealth is the spiritual wisdom and devotion given by the Guru; my mind is held steady in perfect neutral balance.

ਜਲਤ ਅੰਭ ਥੰਭਿ ਮਨੁ ਧਾਵਤ ਭਰਮ ਬੰਧਨ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੩॥
जलत अ्मभ थ्मभि मनु धावत भरम बंधन भउ भागा ॥३॥
Jalaṫ ambʰ ṫʰambʰ man ḋʰaavaṫ bʰaram banḋʰan bʰa▫o bʰaagaa. ||3||
It is like water for the burning soul, like an anchoring support for the wandering mind; the bondage of doubt and fear is dispelled. ||3||
|
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਮਦਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਖੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
कहै कबीरु मदन के माते हिरदै देखु बीचारी ॥
Kahæ Kabeer maḋan ké maaṫé hirḋæ ḋékʰ beechaaree.
Says Kabir: O you who are intoxicated with sexual desire, reflect upon this in your heart, and see.

ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਲਾਖ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਹਸਤੀ ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੫੮॥
तुम घरि लाख कोटि अस्व हसती हम घरि एकु मुरारी ॥४॥१॥७॥५८॥
Ṫum gʰar laakʰ kot asav hasṫee ham gʰar ék muraaree. ||4||1||7||58||
Within your home there are hundreds of thousands, millions of horses and elephants; but within my home is the One Lord. ||4||1||7||58||

ਜਿਉ ਕਪਿ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਮੁਸਟਿ ਚਨਨ ਕੀ ਲੁਬਧਿ ਨ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਦਇਓ ॥
जिउ कपि के कर मुसटि चनन की लुबधि न तिआगु दइओ ॥
Ji▫o kap ké kar musat chanan kee lubaḋʰ na ṫi▫aag da▫i▫o.
Like the monkey with a handful of grain, who will not let go because of greed -

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਲਾਲਚ ਸਿਉ ਤੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਹਿ ਪਰਿਓ ॥੧॥
जो जो करम कीए लालच सिउ ते फिरि गरहि परिओ ॥१॥
Jo jo karam kee▫é laalach si▫o ṫé fir garėh pari▫o. ||1||
just so, all the deeds committed in greed ultimately become a noose around one’s neck. ||1||
|
ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਓ ॥
भगति बिनु बिरथे जनमु गइओ ॥
Bʰagaṫ bin birṫʰé janam ga▫i▫o.
Without devotional worship, human life passes away in vain.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਸਚੁ ਰਹਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
साधसंगति भगवान भजन बिनु कही न सचु रहिओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saaḋʰsangaṫ bʰagvaan bʰajan bin kahee na sach rahi▫o. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, without vibrating and meditating on the Lord God, one does not abide in Truth. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਉ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਕੁਸਮ ਪਰਫੁਲਿਤ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਨ ਘ੍ਰਾਉ ਲਇਓ ॥
जिउ उदिआन कुसम परफुलित किनहि न घ्राउ लइओ ॥
Ji▫o uḋi▫aan kusam parfuliṫ kinėh na gʰaraa▫o la▫i▫o.
Like the flower which blossoms in the wilderness with no one to enjoy its fragrance,

ਤੈਸੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਲ ਹਇਓ ॥੨॥
तैसे भ्रमत अनेक जोनि महि फिरि फिरि काल हइओ ॥२॥
Ṫæsé bʰarmaṫ anék jon mėh fir fir kaal ha▫i▫o. ||2||
So, do people wander in reincarnation; over and over again, they are destroyed by Death. ||2||
|
ਇਆ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨ ਅਰੁ ਸੁਤ ਦਾਰਾ ਪੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਜੁ ਦਇਓ ॥
इआ धन जोबन अरु सुत दारा पेखन कउ जु दइओ ॥
I▫aa ḋʰan joban ar suṫ ḋaaraa pékʰan ka▫o jo da▫i▫o.
This wealth, youth, children and spouse which the Lord has given you - this is all just a passing show.

ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਟਕਿ ਜੋ ਉਰਝੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿ ਲਇਓ ॥੩॥
तिन ही माहि अटकि जो उरझे इंद्री प्रेरि लइओ ॥३॥
Ṫin hee maahi atak jo urjʰé inḋree parér la▫i▫o. ||3||
Those who are caught and entangled in these are carried away by sensual desire. ||3||
|
ਅਉਧ ਅਨਲ ਤਨੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਚਹੁ ਦਿਸ ਠਾਟੁ ਠਇਓ ॥
अउध अनल तनु तिन को मंदरु चहु दिस ठाटु ठइओ ॥
A▫oḋʰ anal ṫan ṫin ko manḋar chahu ḋis tʰaat tʰa▫i▫o.
Age is the fire, and the body is the house of straw; on all four sides, this play is being played out.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰਨ ਕਉ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਓਟ ਲਇਓ ॥੪॥੧॥੮॥੫੯॥
कहि कबीर भै सागर तरन कउ मै सतिगुर ओट लइओ ॥४॥१॥८॥५९॥
Kahi Kabeer bʰæ saagar ṫaran ka▫o mæ saṫgur ot la▫i▫o. ||4||1||8||59||
Says Kabir, to cross over the terrifying world-ocean, I have taken to the Shelter of the True Guru. ||4||1||8||59||

ਪਾਨੀ ਮੈਲਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਗੋਰੀ ॥
पानी मैला माटी गोरी ॥
Paanee mælaa maatee goree.
The water of the sperm is cloudy, and the egg of the ovary is crimson.

ਇਸ ਮਾਟੀ ਕੀ ਪੁਤਰੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੧॥
इस माटी की पुतरी जोरी ॥१॥
Is maatee kee puṫree joree. ||1||
From this clay, the puppet is fashioned. ||1||
|
ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਆਹਿ ਨ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
मै नाही कछु आहि न मोरा ॥
Mæ naahee kachʰ aahi na moraa.
I am nothing, and nothing is mine.

ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਰਸੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਤੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तनु धनु सभु रसु गोबिंद तोरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ṫan ḋʰan sabʰ ras gobinḋ ṫoraa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
This body, wealth, and all delicacies are Yours, O Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||
|
ਇਸ ਮਾਟੀ ਮਹਿ ਪਵਨੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
इस माटी महि पवनु समाइआ ॥
Is maatee mėh pavan samaa▫i▫aa.
Into this clay, the breath is infused.
|
ਝੂਠਾ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਜੋਰਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
झूठा परपंचु जोरि चलाइआ ॥२॥
Jʰootʰaa parpanch jor chalaa▫i▫aa. ||2||
By Your Power, You have set this false contrivance in motion. ||2||
