किनहू लाख पांच की जोरी ॥
Kinhoo laakʰ paaⁿch kee joree.
Some collect hundreds of thousands of dollars,

ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਗਗਰੀਆ ਫੋਰੀ ॥੩॥
अंत की बार गगरीआ फोरी ॥३॥
Anṫ kee baar gagree▫aa foree. ||3||
but in the end, the pitcher of the body bursts. ||3||

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਨੀਵ ਉਸਾਰੀ ॥
कहि कबीर इक नीव उसारी ॥
Kahi Kabeer ik neev usaaree.
Says Kabir, that single foundation which you have laid
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੯॥੬੦॥
खिन महि बिनसि जाइ अहंकारी ॥४॥१॥९॥६०॥
Kʰin mėh binas jaa▫é ahaⁿkaaree. ||4||1||9||60||
will be destroyed in an instant - you are so egotistical. ||4||1||9||60||

Meditate on the Lord, O my soul,

ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਜਪਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧॥
ध्रू प्रहिलाद जपिओ हरि जैसे ॥१॥
Ḋʰaroo par▫hilaaḋ japi▫o har jæsé. ||1||
just as Dhroo and Prahlaad meditated on the Lord. ||1||
|
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
दीन दइआल भरोसे तेरे ॥
Ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aal bʰarosé ṫéré.
O Lord, Merciful to the meek, I have placed my faith in You;

ਸਭੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਚੜਾਇਆ ਬੇੜੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सभु परवारु चड़ाइआ बेड़े ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sabʰ parvaar chaṛaa▫i▫aa béṛé. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
along with all my family, I have come aboard Your boat. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਵੈ ॥
जा तिसु भावै ता हुकमु मनावै ॥
Jaa ṫis bʰaavæ ṫaa hukam manaavæ.
When it is pleasing to Him, then He inspires us to obey the Hukam of His Command.

ਇਸ ਬੇੜੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
इस बेड़े कउ पारि लघावै ॥२॥
Is béṛé ka▫o paar lagʰaavæ. ||2||
He causes this boat to cross over. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
गुर परसादि ऐसी बुधि समानी ॥
Gur parsaaḋ æsee buḋʰ samaanee.
By Guru’s Grace, such understanding is infused into me;

ਚੂਕਿ ਗਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
चूकि गई फिरि आवन जानी ॥३॥
Chook ga▫ee fir aavan jaanee. ||3||
my comings and goings in reincarnation have ended. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
कहु कबीर भजु सारिगपानी ॥
Kaho Kabeer bʰaj saarigpaanee.
Says Kabir, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord, the Sustainer of the earth.

ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਸਭ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੦॥੬੧॥
उरवारि पारि सभ एको दानी ॥४॥२॥१०॥६१॥
Urvaar paar sabʰ éko ḋaanee. ||4||2||10||61||
In this world, in the world beyond and everywhere, He alone is the Giver. ||4||2||10||61||

ਜੋਨਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਜਉ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
जोनि छाडि जउ जग महि आइओ ॥
Jon chʰaad ja▫o jag mėh aa▫i▫o.
He leaves the womb, and comes into the world;

ਲਾਗਤ ਪਵਨ ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
लागत पवन खसमु बिसराइओ ॥१॥
Laagaṫ pavan kʰasam bisraa▫i▫o. ||1||
as soon as the air touches him, he forgets his Lord and Master. ||1||
|
ਜੀਅਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨਾ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जीअरा हरि के गुना गाउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jee▫araa har ké gunaa gaa▫o. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
O my soul, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਧ ਤਪੁ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
गरभ जोनि महि उरध तपु करता ॥
Garabʰ jon mėh uraḋʰ ṫap karṫaa.
You were upside-down, living in the womb; you generated the intense meditative heat of ’tapas’.

ਤਉ ਜਠਰ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੨॥
तउ जठर अगनि महि रहता ॥२॥
Ṫa▫o jatʰar agan mėh rahṫaa. ||2||
Then, you escaped the fire of the belly. ||2||
|
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
लख चउरासीह जोनि भ्रमि आइओ ॥
Lakʰ cha▫oraaseeh jon bʰaram aa▫i▫o.
After wandering through 8.4 million incarnations, you came.

ਅਬ ਕੇ ਛੁਟਕੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
अब के छुटके ठउर न ठाइओ ॥३॥
Ab ké chʰutké tʰa▫ur na tʰaa▫i▫o. ||3||
If you stumble and fall now, you shall find no home or place of rest. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
कहु कबीर भजु सारिगपानी ॥
Kaho Kabeer bʰaj saarigpaanee.

ਆਵਤ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧॥੬੨॥
आवत दीसै जात न जानी ॥४॥१॥११॥६२॥
Aavaṫ ḋeesæ jaaṫ na jaanee. ||4||1||11||62||
He is not seen to be coming or going; He is the Knower of all. ||4||1||11||62||

ਸੁਰਗ ਬਾਸੁ ਨ ਬਾਛੀਐ ਡਰੀਐ ਨ ਨਰਕਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
सुरग बासु न बाछीऐ डरीऐ न नरकि निवासु ॥
Surag baas na baachʰee▫æ daree▫æ na narak nivaas.
don’t wish for a home in heaven, and don’t be afraid to live in hell.

ਹੋਨਾ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਮਨਹਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
होना है सो होई है मनहि न कीजै आस ॥१॥
Honaa hæ so ho▫ee hæ manėh na keejæ aas. ||1||
Whatever will be will be, so don’t get your hopes up in your mind. ||1||
|
ਰਮਈਆ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
रमईआ गुन गाईऐ ॥
Rama▫ee▫aa gun gaa▫ee▫æ.
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord,
|
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जा ते पाईऐ परम निधानु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jaa ṫé paa▫ee▫æ param niḋʰaan. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
from whom the most excellent treasure is obtained. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਿਆ ਜਪੁ ਕਿਆ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਕਿਆ ਬਰਤੁ ਕਿਆ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
किआ जपु किआ तपु संजमो किआ बरतु किआ इसनानु ॥
Ki▫aa jap ki▫aa ṫap sanjamo ki▫aa baraṫ ki▫aa isnaan.
What good is chanting, penance or self-mortification? What good is fasting or cleansing baths,
|
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥
जब लगु जुगति न जानीऐ भाउ भगति भगवान ॥२॥
Jab lag jugaṫ na jaanee▫æ bʰaa▫o bʰagaṫ bʰagvaan. ||2||
unless you know the way to worship the Lord God with loving devotion? ||2||
|
ਸੰਪੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਹਰਖੀਐ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਰੋਇ ॥
स्मपै देखि न हरखीऐ बिपति देखि न रोइ ॥
Sampæ ḋékʰ na harkʰee▫æ bipaṫ ḋékʰ na ro▫é.
don’t feel so delighted at the sight of wealth, and don’t weep at the sight of suffering and adversity.

ਜਿਉ ਸੰਪੈ ਤਿਉ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਬਿਧ ਨੇ ਰਚਿਆ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
जिउ स्मपै तिउ बिपति है बिध ने रचिआ सो होइ ॥३॥
Ji▫o sampæ ṫi▫o bipaṫ hæ biḋʰ né rachi▫aa so ho▫é. ||3||
As is wealth, so is adversity; whatever the Lord proposes, comes to pass. ||3||
|
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
कहि कबीर अब जानिआ संतन रिदै मझारि ॥
Kahi Kabeer ab jaani▫aa sanṫan riḋæ majʰaar.
Says Kabir, now I know that the Lord dwells within the hearts of His Saints;

ਸੇਵਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਲੇ ਜਿਹ ਘਟ ਬਸੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥੬੩॥
सेवक सो सेवा भले जिह घट बसै मुरारि ॥४॥१॥१२॥६३॥
Sévak so sévaa bʰalé jih gʰat basæ muraar. ||4||1||12||63||
that servant performs the best service, whose heart is filled with the Lord. ||4||1||12||63||

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੋ ਕੋਇ ਨਹੀ ਖਿੰਚਿ ਲੇਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
रे मन तेरो कोइ नही खिंचि लेइ जिनि भारु ॥
Ré man ṫéro ko▫é nahee kʰinch lé▫é jin bʰaar.
O my mind! Even if you carry someone’s burden, they don’t belong to you.

ਬਿਰਖ ਬਸੇਰੋ ਪੰਖਿ ਕੋ ਤੈਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
बिरख बसेरो पंखि को तैसो इहु संसारु ॥१॥
Birakʰ baséro pankʰ ko ṫæso ih sansaar. ||1||
This world is like the perch of the bird on the tree. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਰੇ ॥
राम रसु पीआ रे ॥
Raam ras pee▫aa ré.
I drink the sublime essence of the Lord.
|
ਜਿਹ ਰਸ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਏ ਰਸ ਅਉਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जिह रस बिसरि गए रस अउर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jih ras bisar ga▫é ras a▫or. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
With the taste of this essence, I have forgotten all other tastes. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਉਰ ਮੁਏ ਕਿਆ ਰੋਈਐ ਜਉ ਆਪਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਇ ॥
अउर मुए किआ रोईऐ जउ आपा थिरु न रहाइ ॥
A▫or mu▫é ki▫aa ro▫ee▫æ ja▫o aapaa ṫʰir na rahaa▫é.
Why should we weep at the death of others, when we ourselves are not permanent?
|
ਜੋ ਉਪਜੈ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
जो उपजै सो बिनसि है दुखु करि रोवै बलाइ ॥२॥
Jo upjæ so binas hæ ḋukʰ kar rovæ balaa▫é. ||2||
Whoever is born shall pass away; why should we cry out in grief? ||2||
|
ਜਹ ਕੀ ਉਪਜੀ ਤਹ ਰਚੀ ਪੀਵਤ ਮਰਦਨ ਲਾਗ ॥
जह की उपजी तह रची पीवत मरदन लाग ॥
Jah kee upjee ṫah rachee peevaṫ marḋan laag.
We are reabsorbed into the One from whom we came; drink the Lord’s essence, and remain attached to Him.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਚਿਤਿ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੩॥੬੪॥
कहि कबीर चिति चेतिआ राम सिमरि बैराग ॥३॥२॥१३॥६४॥
Kahi Kabeer chiṫ chéṫi▫aa raam simar bæraag. ||3||2||13||64||
Says Kabir, my consciousness is filled with thoughts of remembrance of the Lord; I have become detached from the world. ||3||2||13||64||

ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਲੋਚਨ ਭਰੀ ਲੇ ਉਸਾਸਾ ॥
पंथु निहारै कामनी लोचन भरी ले उसासा ॥
Panṫʰ nihaaræ kaamnee lochan bʰaree lé usaasaa.
The bride gazes at the path, and sighs with tearful eyes.
|
ਉਰ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਪਗੁ ਨਾ ਖਿਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥੧॥
उर न भीजै पगु ना खिसै हरि दरसन की आसा ॥१॥
Ur na bʰeejæ pag naa kʰisæ har ḋarsan kee aasaa. ||1||
Her heart is not happy, but she does not retrace her steps, in hopes of seeing the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan. ||1||
