ਭਈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹੁਰੀਆ ॥
भई परापति मानुख देहुरीआ ॥
Bʰa▫ee paraapaṫ maanukʰ ḋéhuree▫aa.
You have been blessed with this human body.

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
गोबिंद मिलण की इह तेरी बरीआ ॥
Gobinḋ milaṇ kee ih ṫéree baree▫aa.
This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe.

ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
अवरि काज तेरै कितै न काम ॥
Avar kaaj ṫéræ kiṫæ na kaam.
Other efforts are of no use to you.
|
ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥
मिलु साधसंगति भजु केवल नाम ॥१॥
Mil saaḋʰsangaṫ bʰaj kéval naam. ||1||
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, recite only the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਸਰੰਜਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੁ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਨ ਕੈ ॥
सरंजामि लागु भवजल तरन कै ॥
Saraⁿjaam laag bʰavjal ṫaran kæ.
Make the effort, and cross over the terrifying world ocean.

ਜਨਮੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਾਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जनमु ब्रिथा जात रंगि माइआ कै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Janam bariṫʰa jaaṫ rang maa▫i▫aa kæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
This human life is passing away in vain, in the love of Maya. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
जपु तपु संजमु धरमु न कमाइआ ॥
Jap ṫap sanjam ḋʰaram na kamaa▫i▫aa.
I have not practiced meditation, penance, self-restraint or righteous living;
|
ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
सेवा साध न जानिआ हरि राइआ ॥
Sévaa saaḋʰ na jaani▫aa har raa▫i▫aa.
I have not served the Holy Saints, and I do not know the Lord, my King.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥
कहु नानक हम नीच करंमा ॥
Kaho Naanak ham neech karammaa.
Says Nanak, my actions are vile and despicable;
|
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮਾ ॥੨॥੨੯॥
सरणि परे की राखहु सरमा ॥२॥२९॥
Saraṇ paré kee raakʰo sarmaa. ||2||29||
O Lord, I seek Your Sanctuary - please, preserve my honor. ||2||29||

ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
तुझ बिनु अवरु नाही मै दूजा तूं मेरे मन माही ॥
Ṫujʰ bin avar naahee mæ ḋoojaa ṫooⁿ méré man maahee.
Without You, there is no other for me; You alone are in my mind.

ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
तूं साजनु संगी प्रभु मेरा काहे जीअ डराही ॥१॥
Ṫooⁿ saajan sangee parabʰ méraa kaahé jee▫a daraahee. ||1||
You are my Friend and Companion, God; why should my soul be afraid? ||1||
|
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
तुमरी ओट तुमारी आसा ॥
Ṫumree ot ṫumaaree aasaa.
You are my support, You are my hope.
|
ਬੈਠਤ ਊਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बैठत ऊठत सोवत जागत विसरु नाही तूं सास गिरासा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bætʰaṫ ootʰaṫ sovaṫ jaagaṫ visar naahee ṫooⁿ saas giraasaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
While sitting down or standing up, while sleeping or waking, with every breath and morsel of food, I never forget You. ||1||Pause||
|
ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਕਰਾਲਾ ॥
राखु राखु सरणि प्रभ अपनी अगनि सागर विकराला ॥
Raakʰ raakʰ saraṇ parabʰ apnee agan saagar vikraalaa.
Protect me, please protect me, O God; I have come to Your Sanctuary; the ocean of fire is so horrible.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥੩੦॥
नानक के सुखदाते सतिगुर हम तुमरे बाल गुपाला ॥२॥३०॥
Naanak ké sukʰ▫ḋaaṫé saṫgur ham ṫumré baal gupaalaa. ||2||30||
The True Guru is the Giver of peace to Nanak; I am Your child, O Lord of the World. ||2||30||

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਲੀਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
हरि जन लीने प्रभू छडाइ ॥
Har jan leené parabʰoo chʰadaa▫é.
The Lord God has saved me, His slave.
|
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੋ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਤਾਪੁ ਮੁਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
प्रीतम सिउ मेरो मनु मानिआ तापु मुआ बिखु खाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pareeṫam si▫o méro man maani▫aa ṫaap mu▫aa bikʰ kʰaa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
My mind has surrendered to my Beloved; my fever has taken poison and died. ||1||Pause||

ਪਾਲਾ ਤਾਊ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
पाला ताऊ कछू न बिआपै राम नाम गुन गाइ ॥
Paalaa ṫaa▫oo kachʰoo na bi▫aapæ raam naam gun gaa▫é.
Cold and heat do not touch me at all, when I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਡਾਕੀ ਕੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥੧॥
डाकी को चिति कछू न लागै चरन कमल सरनाइ ॥१॥
Daakee ko chiṫ kachʰoo na laagæ charan kamal sarnaa▫é. ||1||
My consciousness is not affected by the witch, Maya; I take to the Sanctuary of the Lord’s Lotus Feet. ||1||
|
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
संत प्रसादि भए किरपाला होए आपि सहाइ ॥
Sanṫ parsaaḋ bʰa▫é kirpaalaa ho▫é aap sahaa▫é.
By the Grace of the Saints, the Lord has shown His Mercy to me; He Himself is my Help and Support.

ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਤਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੨॥੩੧॥
गुन निधान निति गावै नानकु सहसा दुखु मिटाइ ॥२॥३१॥
Gun niḋʰaan niṫ gaavæ Naanak sahsaa ḋukʰ mitaa▫é. ||2||31||
Nanak forever sings the Praises of the Lord, the treasure of excellence; his doubts and pains are eliminated. ||2||31||

ਅਉਖਧੁ ਖਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
अउखधु खाइओ हरि को नाउ ॥
A▫ukʰaḋʰ kʰaa▫i▫o har ko naa▫o.
I have taken the medicine of the Name of the Lord.

ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
सुख पाए दुख बिनसिआ थाउ ॥१॥
Sukʰ paa▫é ḋukʰ binsi▫aa ṫʰaa▫o. ||1||
I have found peace, and the seat of pain has been removed. ||1||
|
ਤਾਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਚਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
तापु गइआ बचनि गुर पूरे ॥
Ṫaap ga▫i▫aa bachan gur pooré.
The fever has been broken, by the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.

ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अनदु भइआ सभि मिटे विसूरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Anaḋ bʰa▫i▫aa sabʰ mité visooré. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
I am in ecstasy, and all of my sorrows have been dispelled. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
जीअ जंत सगल सुखु पाइआ ॥
Jee▫a janṫ sagal sukʰ paa▫i▫aa.
All beings and creatures obtain peace,
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੨॥੩੨॥
पारब्रहमु नानक मनि धिआइआ ॥२॥३२॥
Paarbarahm Naanak man ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa. ||2||32||
O Nanak! Meditating on the Supreme Lord God. ||2||32||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਬਾਂਛਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁ ਬੇਲਾ ਆਈ ॥
बांछत नाही सु बेला आई ॥
Baaⁿchʰaṫ naahee so bélaa aa▫ee.
That time, which the mortal does not wish for, eventually comes.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਕਿਉ ਬੁਝੈ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥
बिनु हुकमै किउ बुझै बुझाई ॥१॥
Bin hukmæ ki▫o bujʰæ bujʰaa▫ee. ||1||
Without the Lord’s Command, how can understanding be understood? ||1||
|
ਠੰਢੀ ਤਾਤੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਖਾਈ ॥
ठंढी ताती मिटी खाई ॥
Tʰadʰee ṫaaṫee mitee kʰaa▫ee.
The body is consumed by water, fire and earth.
|
ਓਹੁ ਨ ਬਾਲਾ ਬੂਢਾ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ओहु न बाला बूढा भाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Oh na baalaa boodʰaa bʰaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
But the soul is neither young nor old, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
नानक दास साध सरणाई ॥
Naanak ḋaas saaḋʰ sarṇaa▫ee.
Servant Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Holy.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਉ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੩॥
गुर प्रसादि भउ पारि पराई ॥२॥३३॥
Gur parsaaḋ bʰa▫o paar paraa▫ee. ||2||33||
By Guru’s Grace, he has shaken off the fear of death. ||2||33||

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
सदा सदा आतम परगासु ॥
Saḋaa saḋaa aaṫam pargaas.
Forever and ever, the soul is illuminated;
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
साधसंगति हरि चरण निवासु ॥१॥
Saaḋʰsangaṫ har charaṇ nivaas. ||1||
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, it dwells at the Feet of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
राम नाम निति जपि मन मेरे ॥
Raam naam niṫ jap man méré.
Chant the Lord’s Name each and every day, O my mind.
|
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਜਾਹਿ ਸਭੇ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सीतल सांति सदा सुख पावहि किलविख जाहि सभे मन तेरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Seeṫal saaⁿṫ saḋaa sukʰ paavahi kilvikʰ jaahi sabʰé man ṫéré. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
You shall find lasting peace, contentment and tranquility, and all your sins shall depart. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਮ ॥
कहु नानक जा के पूरन करम ॥
Kaho Naanak jaa ké pooran karam.
Says Nanak, one who is blessed with perfect good karma,
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੨॥੩੪॥
सतिगुर भेटे पूरन पारब्रहम ॥२॥३४॥
Saṫgur bʰété pooran paarbarahm. ||2||34||
meets the True Guru, and obtains the Perfect Supreme Lord God. ||2||34||

ਦੂਜੇ ਘਰ ਕੇ ਚਉਤੀਸ ॥
दूजे घर के चउतीस ॥
Ḋoojé gʰar ké cha▫uṫees.
Thirty-four Shabads in Second House. ||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬੇਲੀ ॥
जा का हरि सुआमी प्रभु बेली ॥
Jaa kaa har su▫aamee parabʰ bélee.
She who has the Lord God as her Friend
