ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਗਾਖਰੋ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਕਉਨ ਛੁਟਿਓ ਰੀ ॥
कामु क्रोधु अहंकारु गाखरो संजमि कउन छुटिओ री ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ ahaⁿkaar gaakʰro sanjam ka▫un chʰuti▫o ree.
How have you escaped from the treachery of sexual desire, anger and egotism?

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਸੁਰ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨੀਆ ਸਗਲੋ ਭਵਨੁ ਲੁਟਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੧॥
सुरि नर देव असुर त्रै गुनीआ सगलो भवनु लुटिओ री ॥१॥
Sur nar ḋév asur ṫaræ gunee▫aa saglo bʰavan luti▫o ree. ||1||
The holy beings, angels and demons of the three qualities, and all the worlds have been plundered. ||1||

ਦਾਵਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਜਾਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿਆ ਬੂਟੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਰੀ ॥
दावा अगनि बहुतु त्रिण जाले कोई हरिआ बूटु रहिओ री ॥
Ḋaavaa agan bahuṫ ṫariṇ jaalé ko▫ee hari▫aa boot rahi▫o ree.
The forest fire has burnt down so much of the grass; how rare are the plants which have remained green.

ਐਸੋ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੨॥
ऐसो समरथु वरनि न साकउ ता की उपमा जात न कहिओ री ॥२॥
Æso samraṫʰ varan na saaka▫o ṫaa kee upmaa jaaṫ na kahi▫o ree. ||2||
He is so All-powerful, that I cannot even describe Him; no one can chant His Praises. ||2||

ਕਾਜਰ ਕੋਠ ਮਹਿ ਭਈ ਨ ਕਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਰਨੁ ਬਨਿਓ ਰੀ ॥
काजर कोठ महि भई न कारी निरमल बरनु बनिओ री ॥
Kaajar kotʰ mėh bʰa▫ee na kaaree nirmal baran bani▫o ree.
In the store-room of the lamp-black, I did not turn black; my color remained immaculate and pure.

ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਅਚਰਜ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੩॥
महा मंत्रु गुर हिरदै बसिओ अचरज नामु सुनिओ री ॥३॥
Mahaa manṫar gur hirḋæ basi▫o achraj naam suni▫o ree. ||3||
The Guru has implanted the Maha Mantra, the Great Mantra, within my heart, and I have heard the wondrous Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਦਰਿ ਅਵਲੋਕਨ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
करि किरपा प्रभ नदरि अवलोकन अपुनै चरणि लगाई ॥
Kar kirpaa parabʰ naḋar avlokan apunæ charaṇ lagaa▫ee.
Showing His Mercy, God has looked upon me with favor, and He has attached me to His feet.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੫੧॥
प्रेम भगति नानक सुखु पाइआ साधू संगि समाई ॥४॥१२॥५१॥
Parém bʰagaṫ Naanak sukʰ paa▫i▫aa saaḋʰoo sang samaa▫ee. ||4||12||51||
Through loving devotional worship, O Nanak! I have obtained peace; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am absorbed into the Lord. ||4||12||51||

ਲਾਲੁ ਚੋਲਨਾ ਤੈ ਤਨਿ ਸੋਹਿਆ ॥
लालु चोलना तै तनि सोहिआ ॥
Laal cholnaa ṫæ ṫan sohi▫aa.
That red dress looks so beautiful on your body.

ਸੁਰਿਜਨ ਭਾਨੀ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
सुरिजन भानी तां मनु मोहिआ ॥१॥
Surijan bʰaanee ṫaaⁿ man mohi▫aa. ||1||
Your Husband Lord is pleased, and His heart is enticed. ||1||
|
ਕਵਨ ਬਨੀ ਰੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਲਾਲੀ ॥
कवन बनी री तेरी लाली ॥
Kavan banee ree ṫéree laalee.
Whose handiwork is this red beauty of yours?

ਕਵਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਤੂੰ ਭਈ ਗੁਲਾਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
कवन रंगि तूं भई गुलाली ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kavan rang ṫooⁿ bʰa▫ee gulaalee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Whose love has rendered the poppy so red? ||1||Pause||

ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥
तुम ही सुंदरि तुमहि सुहागु ॥
Ṫum hee sunḋar ṫumėh suhaag.
You are so beautiful; you are the happy soul-bride.

ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੨॥
तुम घरि लालनु तुम घरि भागु ॥२॥
Ṫum gʰar laalan ṫum gʰar bʰaag. ||2||
Your Beloved is in your home; good fortune is in your home. ||2||
|
ਤੂੰ ਸਤਵੰਤੀ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਧਾਨਿ ॥
तूं सतवंती तूं परधानि ॥
Ṫooⁿ saṫvanṫee ṫooⁿ parḋʰaan.
You are pure and chaste, you are most distinguished.

ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਾਨੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਸੁਰ ਗਿਆਨਿ ॥੩॥
तूं प्रीतम भानी तुही सुर गिआनि ॥३॥
Ṫooⁿ pareeṫam bʰaanee ṫuhee sur gi▫aan. ||3||
You are pleasing to Your Beloved, and you have sublime understanding. ||3||
|
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਾਨੀ ਤਾਂ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੁਲਾਲ ॥
प्रीतम भानी तां रंगि गुलाल ॥
Pareeṫam bʰaanee ṫaaⁿ rang gulaal.
I am pleasing to my Beloved, and so I am imbued with the deep red color.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਭ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੪॥
कहु नानक सुभ द्रिसटि निहाल ॥४॥
Kaho Naanak subʰ ḋarisat nihaal. ||4||
Says Nanak, I have been totally blessed with the Lord’s Glance of Grace. ||4||

ਸੁਨਿ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ਇਹ ਹਮਰੀ ਘਾਲ ॥
सुनि री सखी इह हमरी घाल ॥
Sun ree sakʰee ih hamree gʰaal.
Listen, O companions: this is my only work;

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਸਵਾਰਨਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੫੨॥
प्रभ आपि सीगारि सवारनहार ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१॥५२॥
Parabʰ aap seegaar savaaranhaar. ||1|| rahaa▫o ḋoojaa. ||1||52||
God Himself is the One who embellishes and adorns. ||1||Second. Pause||1||52||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
आसा महला ५ ॥
Aasaa mėhlaa 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਦੂਖੁ ਘਨੋ ਜਬ ਹੋਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
दूखु घनो जब होते दूरि ॥
Ḋookʰ gʰano jab hoṫé ḋoor.
I suffered in pain, when I thought He was far away;
|
ਅਬ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥
अब मसलति मोहि मिली हदूरि ॥१॥
Ab maslaṫ mohi milee haḋoor. ||1||
but now, He is Ever-present, and I receive His instructions. ||1||
|
ਚੁਕਾ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਰੀ ॥
चुका निहोरा सखी सहेरी ॥
Chukaa nihoraa sakʰee sahéree.
My pride is gone, O friends and companions;
|
ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
भरमु गइआ गुरि पिर संगि मेरी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bʰaram ga▫i▫aa gur pir sang méree. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
my doubt is dispelled, and the Guru has united me with my Beloved. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿਕਟਿ ਆਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੇਜ ਧਰੀ ॥
निकटि आनि प्रिअ सेज धरी ॥
Nikat aan pari▫a séj ḋʰaree.
My Beloved has drawn me near to Him, and seated me on His Bed;
|
ਕਾਣਿ ਕਢਨ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਿ ਪਰੀ ॥੨॥
काणि कढन ते छूटि परी ॥२॥
Kaaṇ kadʰan ṫé chʰoot paree. ||2||
I have escaped the clutches of others. ||2||
|
ਮੰਦਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥
मंदरि मेरै सबदि उजारा ॥
Manḋar méræ sabaḋ ujaaraa.
In the mansion of my heart, shines the Light of the Shabad.
|
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦੀ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
अनद बिनोदी खसमु हमारा ॥३॥
Anaḋ binoḋee kʰasam hamaaraa. ||3||
My Husband Lord is blissful and playful. ||3||
|
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
मसतकि भागु मै पिरु घरि आइआ ॥
Masṫak bʰaag mæ pir gʰar aa▫i▫aa.
According to the destiny written upon my forehead, my Husband Lord has come home to me.

ਥਿਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੩॥
थिरु सोहागु नानक जन पाइआ ॥४॥२॥५३॥
Ṫʰir sohaag Naanak jan paa▫i▫aa. ||4||2||53||
Servant Nanak has obtained the eternal marriage. ||4||2||53||

ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
साचि नामि मेरा मनु लागा ॥
Saach naam méraa man laagaa.
My mind is attached to the True Name.
|
ਲੋਗਨ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਠਾ ਬਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
लोगन सिउ मेरा ठाठा बागा ॥१॥
Logan si▫o méraa tʰaatʰaa baagaa. ||1||
My dealings with other people are only superficial. ||1||
|
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੂਤੁ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਮਉਲਾ ॥
बाहरि सूतु सगल सिउ मउला ॥
Baahar sooṫ sagal si▫o ma▫ulaa.
Outwardly, I am on good terms with all;
|
ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਉਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अलिपतु रहउ जैसे जल महि कउला ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Alipaṫ raha▫o jæsé jal mėh ka▫ulaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
but I remain detached, like the lotus upon the water. ||1||Pause||
|
ਮੁਖ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
मुख की बात सगल सिउ करता ॥
Mukʰ kee baaṫ sagal si▫o karṫaa.
By word of mouth, I talk with everyone;
|
ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਧਰਤਾ ॥੨॥
जीअ संगि प्रभु अपुना धरता ॥२॥
Jee▫a sang parabʰ apunaa ḋʰarṫaa. ||2||
but I keep God clasped to my heart. ||2||
|
ਦੀਸਿ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਭੀਹਾਲਾ ॥
दीसि आवत है बहुतु भीहाला ॥
Ḋees aavaṫ hæ bahuṫ bʰeehaalaa.
I may appear utterly terrible,
|
ਸਗਲ ਚਰਨ ਕੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
सगल चरन की इहु मनु राला ॥३॥
Sagal charan kee ih man raalaa. ||3||
but my mind is the dust of all men’s feet.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
नानक जनि गुरु पूरा पाइआ ॥
Naanak jan gur pooraa paa▫i▫aa.
Servant Nanak has found the Perfect Guru.
