ਆਪਣੈ ਹਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
आपणै हथि वडिआईआ दे नामे लाए ॥
Aapṇæ haṫʰ vaḋi▫aa▫ee▫aa ḋé naamé laa▫é.
Glory is in His Hands; He bestows His Name, and attaches us to it.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਏ ॥੮॥੪॥੨੬॥
नानक नामु निधानु मनि वसिआ वडिआई पाए ॥८॥४॥२६॥
Naanak naam niḋʰaan man vasi▫aa vadi▫aa▫ee paa▫é. ||8||4||26||
O Nanak! The treasure of the Naam abides within the mind, and glory is obtained. ||8||4||26||

ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
सुणि मन मंनि वसाइ तूं आपे आइ मिलै मेरे भाई ॥
Suṇ man man vasaa▫é ṫooⁿ aapé aa▫é milæ méré bʰaa▫ee.
Listen, O mortal: enshrine His Name within your mind; He shall come to meet with you, O my Sibling of Destiny.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
अनदिनु सची भगति करि सचै चितु लाई ॥१॥
An▫ḋin sachee bʰagaṫ kar sachæ chiṫ laa▫ee. ||1||
Night and day, center your consciousness on true devotional worship of the True Lord. ||1||
|
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
एको नामु धिआइ तूं सुखु पावहि मेरे भाई ॥
Éko naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é ṫooⁿ sukʰ paavahi méré bʰaa▫ee.
Meditate on the One Naam, and you shall find peace, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हउमै दूजा दूरि करि वडी वडिआई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ha▫umæ ḋoojaa ḋoor kar vadee vadi▫aa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Eradicate egotism and duality, and your glory shall be glorious. ||1||Pause||

ਇਸੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਨੋ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
इसु भगती नो सुरि नर मुनि जन लोचदे विणु सतिगुर पाई न जाइ ॥
Is bʰagṫee no sur nar mun jan lochḋé viṇ saṫgur paa▫ee na jaa▫é.
The angels, humans and silent sages long for this devotional worship, but without the True Guru, it cannot be attained.

ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਦੇ ਜੋਤਿਕੀ ਤਿਨ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
पंडित पड़दे जोतिकी तिन बूझ न पाइ ॥२॥
Pandiṫ paṛ▫ḋé joṫikee ṫin boojʰ na paa▫é. ||2||
The Pandits, the religious scholars, and the astrologers read their books, but they do not understand. ||2||
|
ਆਪੈ ਥੈ ਸਭੁ ਰਖਿਓਨੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
आपै थै सभु रखिओनु किछु कहणु न जाई ॥
Aapæ ṫʰæ sabʰ rakʰi▫on kichʰ kahaṇ na jaa▫ee.
He Himself keeps all in His Hand; nothing else can be said.

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੩॥
आपे देइ सु पाईऐ गुरि बूझ बुझाई ॥३॥
Aapé ḋé▫é so paa▫ee▫æ gur boojʰ bujʰaa▫ee. ||3||
Whatever He gives, is received. The Guru has imparted this understanding to me. ||3||
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
जीअ जंत सभि तिस दे सभना का सोई ॥
Jee▫a janṫ sabʰ ṫis ḋé sabʰnaa kaa so▫ee.
All beings and creatures are His; He belongs to all.

ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥
मंदा किस नो आखीऐ जे दूजा होई ॥४॥
Manḋaa kis no aakʰee▫æ jé ḋoojaa ho▫ee. ||4||
So, who can we call bad, since there is no other? ||4||
|
ਇਕੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਏਕਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
इको हुकमु वरतदा एका सिरि कारा ॥
Iko hukam varaṫḋaa ékaa sir kaaraa.
The Command of the One Lord is pervading throughout; duty to the One Lord is upon the heads of all.

ਆਪਿ ਭਵਾਲੀ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
आपि भवाली दितीअनु अंतरि लोभु विकारा ॥५॥
Aap bʰavaalee ḋiṫee▫an anṫar lobʰ vikaaraa. ||5||
He Himself has led them astray, and placed greed and corruption within their hearts. ||5||
|
ਇਕ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਤਿਅਨੁ ਬੂਝਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
इक आपे गुरमुखि कीतिअनु बूझनि वीचारा ॥
Ik aapé gurmukʰ keeṫi▫an boojʰan veechaaraa.
He has sanctified those few Gurmukhs who understand Him, and reflect upon Him.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭੀ ਓਨਾ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੀਅਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੬॥
भगति भी ओना नो बखसीअनु अंतरि भंडारा ॥६॥
Bʰagaṫ bʰee onaa no bakʰsee▫an anṫar bʰandaaraa. ||6||
He grants devotional worship to them, and within them is the treasure. ||6||
|
ਗਿਆਨੀਆ ਨੋ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
गिआनीआ नो सभु सचु है सचु सोझी होई ॥
Gi▫aanee▫aa no sabʰ sach hæ sach sojʰee ho▫ee.
The spiritual teachers know nothing but the Truth; they obtain true understanding.

ਓਇ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇ ਨ ਭੁਲਨੑੀ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੭॥
ओइ भुलाए किसै दे न भुलन्ही सचु जाणनि सोई ॥७॥
O▫é bʰulaa▫é kisæ ḋé na bʰulnĥee sach jaaṇan so▫ee. ||7||
They are led astray by Him, but they do not go astray, because they know the True Lord. ||7||
|
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਪੰਚ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਪੰਚੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
घर महि पंच वरतदे पंचे वीचारी ॥
Gʰar mėh panch varaṫḋé panché veechaaree.
Within the homes of their bodies, the five passions are pervading, but here, the five are well-behaved.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਸਿ ਨ ਆਵਨੑੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੫॥੨੭॥
नानक बिनु सतिगुर वसि न आवन्ही नामि हउमै मारी ॥८॥५॥२७॥
Naanak bin saṫgur vas na aavnĥee naam ha▫umæ maaree. ||8||5||27||
O Nanak! Without the True Guru, they are not overcome; through the Naam, the ego is conquered. ||8||5||27||

Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਘਰੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਥੁ ਹੈ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
घरै अंदरि सभु वथु है बाहरि किछु नाही ॥
Gʰaræ anḋar sabʰ vaṫʰ hæ baahar kichʰ naahee.
Everything is within the home of your own self; there is nothing beyond it.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟ ਖੁਲਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
गुर परसादी पाईऐ अंतरि कपट खुलाही ॥१॥
Gur parsaadee paa▫ee▫æ anṫar kapat kʰulaahee. ||1||
By Guru’s Grace, it is obtained, and the doors of the inner heart are opened wide. ||1||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ॥
सतिगुर ते हरि पाईऐ भाई ॥
Saṫgur ṫé har paa▫ee▫æ bʰaa▫ee.
From the True Guru, the Lord’s Name is obtained, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अंतरि नामु निधानु है पूरै सतिगुरि दीआ दिखाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Anṫar naam niḋʰaan hæ pooræ saṫgur ḋee▫aa ḋikʰaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The treasure of the Naam is within; the Perfect True Guru has shown this to me. ||1||Pause||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਲਏ ਪਾਏ ਰਤਨੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
हरि का गाहकु होवै सो लए पाए रतनु वीचारा ॥
Har kaa gaahak hovæ so la▫é paa▫é raṫan veechaaraa.
One who is a buyer of the Lord’s Name, finds it, and obtains the jewel of contemplation.

ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਲੈ ਦਿਬ ਦਿਸਟਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
अंदरु खोलै दिब दिसटि देखै मुकति भंडारा ॥२॥
Anḋar kʰolæ ḋib ḋisat ḋékʰæ mukaṫ bʰandaaraa. ||2||
He opens the doors deep within, and through the Eyes of Divine Vision, beholds the treasure of liberation. ||2||
|
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲ ਅਨੇਕ ਹਹਿ ਜੀਉ ਕਰੇ ਵਸੇਰਾ ॥
अंदरि महल अनेक हहि जीउ करे वसेरा ॥
Anḋar mahal anék hėh jee▫o karé vaséraa.
There are so many mansions within the body; the soul dwells within them.

ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
मन चिंदिआ फलु पाइसी फिरि होइ न फेरा ॥३॥
Man chinḋi▫aa fal paa▫isee fir ho▫é na féraa. ||3||
He obtains the fruits of his mind’s desires, and he shall not have to go through reincarnation again. ||3||
|
ਪਾਰਖੀਆ ਵਥੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਲਈ ਗੁਰ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
पारखीआ वथु समालि लई गुर सोझी होई ॥
Paarkʰee▫aa vaṫʰ samaal la▫ee gur sojʰee ho▫ee.
The appraisers cherish the commodity of the Name; they obtain understanding from the Guru.

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਸਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੪॥
नामु पदारथु अमुलु सा गुरमुखि पावै कोई ॥४॥
Naam paḋaaraṫʰ amul saa gurmukʰ paavæ ko▫ee. ||4||
The wealth of the Naam is priceless; how few are the Gurmukhs who obtain it. ||4||
|
ਬਾਹਰੁ ਭਾਲੇ ਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਲਹੈ ਵਥੁ ਘਰੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
बाहरु भाले सु किआ लहै वथु घरै अंदरि भाई ॥
Baahar bʰaalé so ki▫aa lahæ vaṫʰ gʰaræ anḋar bʰaa▫ee.
Searching outwardly, what can anyone find? The commodity is deep within the home of the self, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੫॥
भरमे भूला सभु जगु फिरै मनमुखि पति गवाई ॥५॥
Bʰarmé bʰoolaa sabʰ jag firæ manmukʰ paṫ gavaa▫ee. ||5||
The entire world is wandering around, deluded by doubt; the self-willed Manmukhs lose their honor. ||5||
|
ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਛੋਡੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰ ਘਰਿ ਝੂਠਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
घरु दरु छोडे आपणा पर घरि झूठा जाई ॥
Gʰar ḋar chʰodé aapṇaa par gʰar jʰootʰaa jaa▫ee.
The false one leaves his own hearth and home, and goes out to another’s home.

ਚੋਰੈ ਵਾਂਗੂ ਪਕੜੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਈ ॥੬॥
चोरै वांगू पकड़ीऐ बिनु नावै चोटा खाई ॥६॥
Choræ vaaⁿgoo pakṛee▫æ bin naavæ chotaa kʰaa▫ee. ||6||
Like a thief, he is caught, and without the Naam, he is beaten and struck down. ||6||
|
ਜਿਨੑੀ ਘਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਭਾਈ ॥
जिन्ही घरु जाता आपणा से सुखीए भाई ॥
Jinĥee gʰar jaaṫaa aapṇaa sé sukʰee▫é bʰaa▫ee.
Those who know their own home, are happy, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੭॥
अंतरि ब्रहमु पछाणिआ गुर की वडिआई ॥७॥
Anṫar barahm pachʰaaṇi▫aa gur kee vadi▫aa▫ee. ||7||
They realize God within their own hearts, through the glorious greatness of the Guru. ||7||
|
ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
आपे दानु करे किसु आखीऐ आपे देइ बुझाई ॥
Aapé ḋaan karé kis aakʰee▫æ aapé ḋé▫é bujʰaa▫ee.
He Himself gives gifts, and He Himself bestows understanding; unto whom can we complain?

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂੰ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੮॥੬॥੨੮॥
नानक नामु धिआइ तूं दरि सचै सोभा पाई ॥८॥६॥२८॥
Naanak naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é ṫooⁿ ḋar sachæ sobʰaa paa▫ee. ||8||6||28||
O Nanak! Meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and you shall obtain glory in the True Court. ||8||6||28||
