जिउ बोलावहि तिउ बोलह सुआमी कुदरति कवन हमारी ॥
Ji▫o bolaavėh ṫi▫o bolah su▫aamee kuḋraṫ kavan hamaaree.
As You cause me to speak, so do I speak, O Lord Master. What other power do I have?

O Lord, Man-lion Incarnate, Companion to the poor, Divine Purifier of sinners;

ਭੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਨਾਸ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਫਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥
भै त्रास नास क्रिपाल गुण निधि सफल सुआमी सेव ॥१॥
Bʰæ ṫaraas naas kirpaal guṇ niḋʰ safal su▫aamee sév. ||1||
O Destroyer of fear and dread, Merciful Lord Master, Treasure of Excellence, fruitful is Your service. ||1||

Har gopaal gur gobinḋ.
O Lord, Cherisher of the World, Guru-Lord of the Universe.

ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਦਇਆਲ ਕੇਸਵ ਤਾਰਿ ਜਗ ਭਵ ਸਿੰਧ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
चरण सरण दइआल केसव तारि जग भव सिंध ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Charaṇ saraṇ ḋa▫i▫aal késav ṫaar jag bʰav sinḋʰ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
I seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet, O Merciful Lord. Carry me across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਹਰਨ ਮਦ ਮੋਹ ਦਹਨ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਕਰੰਦ ॥
काम क्रोध हरन मद मोह दहन मुरारि मन मकरंद ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ haran maḋ moh ḋahan muraar man makranḋ.
O Dispeller of sexual desire and anger, Eliminator of intoxication and attachment, Destroyer of ego, Honey of the mind;

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਧਰਣੀਧਰ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥੨॥
जनम मरण निवारि धरणीधर पति राखु परमानंद ॥२॥
Janam maraṇ nivaar ḋʰarṇeeḋʰar paṫ raakʰ parmaananḋ. ||2||
set me free from birth and death, O Sustainer of the earth, and preserve my honor, O Embodiment of supreme bliss. ||2||

ਜਲਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦ ਮੰਤ ॥
जलत अनिक तरंग माइआ गुर गिआन हरि रिद मंत ॥
Jalaṫ anik ṫarang maa▫i▫aa gur gi▫aan har riḋ manṫ.
The many waves of desire for Maya are burnt away, when the Guru’s spiritual wisdom is enshrined in the heart, through the Guru’s Mantra.

ਛੇਦਿ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਚਿੰਤ ਮੇਟਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਨੰਤ ॥੩॥
छेदि अह्मबुधि करुणा मै चिंत मेटि पुरख अनंत ॥३॥
Chʰéḋ ahaⁿ▫buḋʰ karuṇaa mæ chinṫ mét purakʰ ananṫ. ||3||
Destroy my egotism, O Merciful Lord; dispel my anxiety, O Infinite Primal Lord. ||3||

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਪਲ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ॥
सिमरि समरथ पल महूरत प्रभ धिआनु सहज समाधि ॥
Simar samraṫʰ pal mahooraṫ parabʰ ḋʰi▫aan sahj samaaḋʰ.
Remember in meditation the Almighty Lord, every moment and every instant; meditate on God in the celestial peace of Samadhi.

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਾਚੀਐ ਰਜ ਸਾਧ ॥੪॥
दीन दइआल प्रसंन पूरन जाचीऐ रज साध ॥४॥
Ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aal parsann pooran jaachee▫æ raj saaḋʰ. ||4||
O Merciful to the meek, perfectly blissful Lord, I beg for the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||

ਮੋਹ ਮਿਥਨ ਦੁਰੰਤ ਆਸਾ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
मोह मिथन दुरंत आसा बासना बिकार ॥
Moh miṫʰan ḋuranṫ aasaa baasnaa bikaar.
Emotional attachment is false, desire is filthy, and longing is corrupt.

ਰਖੁ ਧਰਮ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਉਧਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੫॥
रखु धरम भरम बिदारि मन ते उधरु हरि निरंकार ॥५॥
Rakʰ ḋʰaram bʰaram biḋaar man ṫé uḋʰar har nirankaar. ||5||
Please, preserve my faith, dispel these doubts from my mind, and save me, O Formless Lord. ||5||

ਧਨਾਢਿ ਆਢਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਹੋਤ ਜਿਨਾ ਨ ਚੀਰ ॥
धनाढि आढि भंडार हरि निधि होत जिना न चीर ॥
Ḋʰanaadʰ aadʰ bʰandaar har niḋʰ hoṫ jinaa na cheer.
They have become wealthy, loaded with the treasures of the Lord’s riches; they were lacking even clothes.

ਖਲ ਮੁਗਧ ਮੂੜ ਕਟਾਖੵ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਭਏ ਗੁਣ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰ ॥੬॥
खल मुगध मूड़ कटाख्य स्रीधर भए गुण मति धीर ॥६॥
Kʰal mugaḋʰ mooṛ kataakʰ▫y sareeḋʰar bʰa▫é guṇ maṫ ḋʰeer. ||6||
The idiotic, foolish and senseless people have become virtuous and patient, receiving the Gracious Glance of the Lord of wealth. ||6||

ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਿਦ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
जीवन मुकत जगदीस जपि मन धारि रिद परतीति ॥
Jeevan mukaṫ jagḋees jap man ḋʰaar riḋ parṫeeṫ.
Become Jivan-Mukta, liberated while still alive, by meditating on the Lord of the Universe, O mind, and maintaining faith in Him in your heart.

ਜੀਅ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਰਮਣੰ ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸਹ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੭॥
जीअ दइआ मइआ सरबत्र रमणं परम हंसह रीति ॥७॥
Jee▫a ḋa▫i▫aa ma▫i▫aa sarbaṫar ramṇaⁿ param hansah reeṫ. ||7||
Show kindness and mercy to all beings, and realize that the Lord is pervading everywhere; this is the way of life of the enlightened soul, the supreme swan. ||7||

ਦੇਤ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਰਸਨ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰ ॥
देत दरसनु स्रवन हरि जसु रसन नाम उचार ॥
Ḋéṫ ḋarsan sarvan har jas rasan naam uchaar.
He grants the Blessed Vision of His Darshan to those who listen to His Praises, and who, with their tongues, chant His Name.

They are part and parcel, life and limb with the Lord God; O Nanak! They feel the Touch of God, the Savior of sinners. ||8||1||2||5||1||1||2||57||

ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੁਆ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
इहु जगतु ममता मुआ जीवण की बिधि नाहि ॥
Ih jagaṫ mamṫaa mu▫aa jeevaṇ kee biḋʰ naahi.
This world is perishing in attachment and possessiveness; no one knows the way of life.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਣ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
गुर कै भाणै जो चलै तां जीवण पदवी पाहि ॥
Gur kæ bʰaaṇæ jo chalæ ṫaaⁿ jeevaṇ paḋvee paahi.
One who walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will, obtains the supreme-status of life.

ਓਇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਜੀਵਤੇ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਹਿ ॥
ओइ सदा सदा जन जीवते जो हरि चरणी चितु लाहि ॥
O▫é saḋaa saḋaa jan jeevṫé jo har charṇee chiṫ laahi.
Those humble beings who focus their consciousness on the Lord’s Feet, live forever and ever.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
नानक नदरी मनि वसै गुरमुखि सहजि समाहि ॥१॥
Naanak naḋree man vasæ gurmukʰ sahj samaahi. ||1||
O Nanak! By His Grace, the Lord abides in the minds of the Gurmukhs, who merge in celestial bliss. ||1||

ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਮਾਰ ॥
अंदरि सहसा दुखु है आपै सिरि धंधै मार ॥
Anḋar sahsaa ḋukʰ hæ aapæ sir ḋʰanḋʰæ maar.
Within the self is the pain of doubt; engrossed in worldly affairs, they are killing themselves.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਤੇ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ॥
दूजै भाइ सुते कबहि न जागहि माइआ मोह पिआर ॥
Ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é suṫé kabėh na jaagėh maa▫i▫aa moh pi▫aar.
Asleep in the love of duality, they never wake up; they are in love with, and attached to Maya.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਾ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥
नामु न चेतहि सबदु न वीचारहि इहु मनमुख का आचारु ॥
Naam na cheeṫėh sabaḋ na vichaarėh ih manmukʰ kaa aachaar.
They do not think of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and they do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad. This is the conduct of the self-willed Manmukhs.
