ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥
सभु किछु जाणै जाणु बुझि वीचारदा ॥
Sabʰ kichʰ jaaṇæ jaaṇ bujʰ veechaarḋaa.
The Knower knows everything; He understands and contemplates.
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰਦਾ ॥
अनिक रूप खिन माहि कुदरति धारदा ॥
Anik roop kʰin maahi kuḋraṫ ḋʰaarḋaa.
By His creative power, He assumes numerous forms in an instant.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਸਚਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ॥
जिस नो लाइ सचि तिसहि उधारदा ॥
Jis no laa▫é sach ṫisėh uḋʰaarḋaa.
One whom the Lord attaches to the Truth is redeemed.
|
ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਲਿ ਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥
जिस दै होवै वलि सु कदे न हारदा ॥
Jis ḋæ hovæ val so kaḋé na haarḋaa.
One who has God on his side is never conquered.

ਸਦਾ ਅਭਗੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਦਾ ॥੪॥
सदा अभगु दीबाणु है हउ तिसु नमसकारदा ॥४॥
Saḋaa abʰag ḋeebaaṇ hæ ha▫o ṫis namaskaarḋaa. ||4||
His Court is eternal and imperishable; I humbly bow to Him. ||4||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
कामु क्रोधु लोभु छोडीऐ दीजै अगनि जलाइ ॥
Kaam kroḋʰ lobʰ chʰodee▫æ ḋeejæ agan jalaa▫é.
Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, and burn them in the fire.

ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
जीवदिआ नित जापीऐ नानक साचा नाउ ॥१॥
Jeevḋi▫aa niṫ jaapee▫æ Naanak saachaa naa▫o. ||1||
As long as you are alive, O Nanak! Meditate continually on the True Name. ||1||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਆਹਿ ॥
सिमरत सिमरत प्रभु आपणा सभ फल पाए आहि ॥
Simraṫ simraṫ parabʰ aapṇaa sabʰ fal paa▫é aahi.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance of my God, I have obtained all the fruits.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
नानक नामु अराधिआ गुर पूरै दीआ मिलाइ ॥२॥
Naanak naam araaḋʰi▫aa gur pooræ ḋee▫aa milaa▫é. ||2||
O Nanak! I worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord. ||2||

ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
सो मुकता संसारि जि गुरि उपदेसिआ ॥
So mukṫaa sansaar jė gur upḋési▫aa.
One who has been instructed by the Guru is liberated in this world.
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ॥
तिस की गई बलाइ मिटे अंदेसिआ ॥
Ṫis kee ga▫ee balaa▫é mité anḋési▫aa.
He avoids disaster, and his anxiety is dispelled.
|
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
तिस का दरसनु देखि जगतु निहालु होइ ॥
Ṫis kaa ḋarsan ḋékʰ jagaṫ nihaal ho▫é.
Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, the world is overjoyed.
|
ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥
जन कै संगि निहालु पापा मैलु धोइ ॥
Jan kæ sang nihaal paapaa mæl ḋʰo▫é.
In the company of the Lord’s humble servants, the world is overjoyed, and the filth of sin is washed away.
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
अमृतु साचा नाउ ओथै जापीऐ ॥
Amriṫ saachaa naa▫o oṫʰæ jaapee▫æ.
There, they meditate on the Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name.

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਭੁਖਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੀਐ ॥
मन कउ होइ संतोखु भुखा ध्रापीऐ ॥
Man ka▫o ho▫é sanṫokʰ bʰukʰaa ḋʰaraapee▫æ.
The mind becomes content, and its hunger is satisfied.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੀਐ ॥
जिसु घटि वसिआ नाउ तिसु बंधन काटीऐ ॥
Jis gʰat vasi▫aa naa▫o ṫis banḋʰan kaatee▫æ.
One whose heart is filled with the Name, has his bonds cut away.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੀਐ ॥੫॥
गुर परसादि किनै विरलै हरि धनु खाटीऐ ॥५॥
Gur parsaaḋ kinæ virlæ har ḋʰan kʰaatee▫æ. ||5||
By Guru’s Grace, some rare person earns the wealth of the Lord’s Name. ||5||

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਉਠਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
मन महि चितवउ चितवनी उदमु करउ उठि नीत ॥
Man mėh chiṫva▫o chiṫvanee uḋam kara▫o utʰ neeṫ.
Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
हरि कीरतन का आहरो हरि देहु नानक के मीत ॥१॥
Har keerṫan kaa aahro har ḋéh Naanak ké meeṫ. ||1||
O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises. ||1||

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
द्रिसटि धारि प्रभि राखिआ मनु तनु रता मूलि ॥
Ḋarisat ḋʰaar parabʰ raakʰi▫aa man ṫan raṫaa mool.
Casting His Glance of Grace, God has saved me; my mind and body are imbued with the Primal Being.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
नानक जो प्रभ भाणीआ मरउ विचारी सूलि ॥२॥
Naanak jo parabʰ bʰaaṇee▫aa mara▫o vichaaree sool. ||2||
O Nanak! Those who are pleasing to God, have their cries of suffering taken away. ||2||

ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
जीअ की बिरथा होइ सु गुर पहि अरदासि करि ॥
Jee▫a kee birṫʰaa ho▫é so gur pėh arḋaas kar.
When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.

ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
छोडि सिआणप सगल मनु तनु अरपि धरि ॥
Chʰod si▫aaṇap sagal man ṫan arap ḋʰar.
Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.
|
ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥
पूजहु गुर के पैर दुरमति जाइ जरि ॥
Poojahu gur ké pær ḋurmaṫ jaa▫é jar.
Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.
|
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥
साध जना कै संगि भवजलु बिखमु तरि ॥
Saaḋʰ janaa kæ sang bʰavjal bikʰam ṫar.
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.

ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥
सेवहु सतिगुर देव अगै न मरहु डरि ॥
Sévhu saṫgur ḋév agæ na marahu dar.
Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥
खिन महि करे निहालु ऊणे सुभर भरि ॥
Kʰin mėh karé nihaal ooṇé subʰar bʰar.
In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.
|
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥
मन कउ होइ संतोखु धिआईऐ सदा हरि ॥
Man ka▫o ho▫é sanṫokʰ ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ saḋaa har.
The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.
|
ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥
सो लगा सतिगुर सेव जा कउ करमु धुरि ॥६॥
So lagaa saṫgur sév jaa ka▫o karam ḋʰur. ||6||
He alone dedicates himself to the Guru’s service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||

ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥
लगड़ी सुथानि जोड़णहारै जोड़ीआ ॥
Lagṛee suṫʰaan joṛanhaaræ joṛee▫aa.
I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥
नानक लहरी लख सै आन डुबण देइ न मा पिरी ॥१॥
Naanak lahree lakʰ sæ aan dubaṇ ḋé▫é na maa piree. ||1||
O Nanak! There are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
बनि भीहावलै हिकु साथी लधमु दुख हरता हरि नामा ॥
Ban bʰeehaavalæ hik saaṫʰee laḋʰam ḋukʰ harṫaa har naamaa.
In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.

ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥
बलि बलि जाई संत पिआरे नानक पूरन कामां ॥२॥
Bal bal jaa▫ee sanṫ pi▫aaré Naanak pooran kaamaaⁿ. ||2||
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||

ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥
पाईअनि सभि निधान तेरै रंगि रतिआ ॥
Paa▫ee▫an sabʰ niḋʰaan ṫéræ rang raṫi▫aa.
All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.
|
ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥
न होवी पछोताउ तुध नो जपतिआ ॥
Na hovee pachʰoṫaa▫o ṫuḋʰ no japṫi▫aa.
One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.
|
ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥
पहुचि न सकै कोइ तेरी टेक जन ॥
Pahuch na sakæ ko▫é ṫéree ték jan.
No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥
गुर पूरे वाहु वाहु सुख लहा चितारि मन ॥
Gur pooré vaahu vaahu sukʰ lahaa chiṫaar man.
‘Waaho! Waaho!’ How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.

ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
गुर पहि सिफति भंडारु करमी पाईऐ ॥
Gur pėh sifaṫ bʰandaar karmee paa▫ee▫æ.
The treasure of the Lord’s Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
सतिगुर नदरि निहाल बहुड़ि न धाईऐ ॥
Saṫgur naḋar nihaal bahuṛ na ḋʰaa▫ee▫æ.
When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander anymore.
|
ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥
रखै आपि दइआलु करि दासा आपणे ॥
Rakʰæ aap ḋa▫i▫aal kar ḋaasaa aapṇé.
The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.
|
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥
हरि हरि हरि हरि नामु जीवा सुणि सुणे ॥७॥
Har har har har naam jeevaa suṇ suṇé. ||7||
Listening, hearing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, I live. ||7||
