ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
बिनु गुर प्रीति न ऊपजै भाई मनमुखि दूजै भाइ ॥
Bin gur pareeṫ na oopjæ bʰaa▫ee manmukʰ ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é.
Without the Guru, love for the Lord does not flourish, O Siblings of Destiny; the self-willed Manmukhs are engrossed in the love of duality.

ਤੁਹ ਕੁਟਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਪਲੈ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
तुह कुटहि मनमुख करम करहि भाई पलै किछू न पाइ ॥२॥
Ṫuh kutėh manmukʰ karam karahi bʰaa▫ee palæ kichʰoo na paa▫é. ||2||
Actions performed by the Manmukh are like the threshing of the chaff - they obtain nothing for their efforts. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
गुर मिलिऐ नामु मनि रविआ भाई साची प्रीति पिआरि ॥
Gur mili▫æ naam man ravi▫aa bʰaa▫ee saachee pareeṫ pi▫aar.
Meeting the Guru, the Naam comes to permeate the mind, O Siblings of Destiny, with true love and affection.

ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
सदा हरि के गुण रवै भाई गुर कै हेति अपारि ॥३॥
Saḋaa har ké guṇ ravæ bʰaa▫ee gur kæ héṫ apaar. ||3||
He always sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, with infinite love for the Guru. ||3||

ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
आइआ सो परवाणु है भाई जि गुर सेवा चितु लाइ ॥
Aa▫i▫aa so parvaaṇ hæ bʰaa▫ee jė gur sévaa chiṫ laa▫é.
How blessed and approved is his coming into the world, O Siblings of Destiny, who focuses his mind on serving the Guru.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੮॥
नानक नामु हरि पाईऐ भाई गुर सबदी मेलाइ ॥४॥८॥
Naanak naam har paa▫ee▫æ bʰaa▫ee gur sabḋee mélaa▫é. ||4||8||
O Nanak! The Name of the Lord is obtained, O Siblings of Destiny, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, and we merge with the Lord. ||4||8||

ਤਿਹੀ ਗੁਣੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥
तिही गुणी त्रिभवणु विआपिआ भाई गुरमुखि बूझ बुझाइ ॥
Ṫihee guṇee ṫaribʰavaṇ vi▫aapi▫aa bʰaa▫ee gurmukʰ boojʰ bujʰaa▫é.
The three worlds are entangled in the three qualities, O Siblings of Destiny; the Guru imparts understanding.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗਿ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
राम नामि लगि छूटीऐ भाई पूछहु गिआनीआ जाइ ॥१॥
Raam naam lag chʰootee▫æ bʰaa▫ee poochʰahu gi▫aanee▫aa jaa▫é. ||1||
Attached to the Lord’s Name, one is emancipated, O Siblings of Destiny; go and ask the wise ones about this. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਉਥੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
मन रे त्रै गुण छोडि चउथै चितु लाइ ॥
Man ré ṫaræ guṇ chʰod cha▫uṫʰæ chiṫ laa▫é.
O mind, renounce the three qualities, and focus your consciousness on the fourth state.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि जीउ तेरै मनि वसै भाई सदा हरि के गुण गाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Har jee▫o ṫéræ man vasæ bʰaa▫ee saḋaa har ké guṇ gaa▫é. Rahaa▫o.
The Dear Lord abides in the mind, O Siblings of Destiny; ever sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||Pause||

ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਪਜੇ ਭਾਈ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
नामै ते सभि ऊपजे भाई नाइ विसरिऐ मरि जाइ ॥
Naamæ ṫé sabʰ oopjé bʰaa▫ee naa▫é visri▫æ mar jaa▫é.
From the Naam, everyone originated, O Siblings of Destiny; forgetting the Naam, they die away.

ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਗਤੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਸੂਤੇ ਗਏ ਮੁਹਾਇ ॥੨॥
अगिआनी जगतु अंधु है भाई सूते गए मुहाइ ॥२॥
Agi▫aanee jagaṫ anḋʰ hæ bʰaa▫ee sooṫé ga▫é muhaa▫é. ||2||
The ignorant world is blind, O Siblings of Destiny; those who sleep are plundered. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥
गुरमुखि जागे से उबरे भाई भवजलु पारि उतारि ॥
Gurmukʰ jaagé sé ubré bʰaa▫ee bʰavjal paar uṫaar.
Those Gurmukhs who remain awake are saved, O Siblings of Destiny; they cross over the terrifying world-ocean.

ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
जग महि लाहा हरि नामु है भाई हिरदै रखिआ उर धारि ॥३॥
Jag mėh laahaa har naam hæ bʰaa▫ee hirḋæ rakʰi▫aa ur ḋʰaar. ||3||
In this world, the Name of the Lord is the true profit, O Siblings of Destiny; keep it enshrined within your heart. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਉਬਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
गुर सरणाई उबरे भाई राम नामि लिव लाइ ॥
Gur sarṇaa▫ee ubré bʰaa▫ee raam naam liv laa▫é.
In the Guru’s Sanctuary, O Siblings of Destiny, you shall be saved; be lovingly attuned to the Lord’s Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਉ ਬੇੜਾ ਨਾਉ ਤੁਲਹੜਾ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਜਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੯॥
नानक नाउ बेड़ा नाउ तुलहड़ा भाई जितु लगि पारि जन पाइ ॥४॥९॥
Naanak naa▫o béṛaa naa▫o ṫulhaṛaa bʰaa▫ee jiṫ lag paar jan paa▫é. ||4||9||
O Nanak! The Name of the Lord is the boat, and the Name is the raft, O Siblings of Destiny; setting out on it, the Lord’s humble servant crosses over the world-ocean. ||4||9||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
सतिगुरु सुख सागरु जग अंतरि होर थै सुखु नाही ॥
Saṫgur sukʰ saagar jag anṫar hor ṫʰæ sukʰ naahee.
The True Guru is the ocean of peace in the world; there is no other place of rest and peace.

ਹਉਮੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਦੁਖਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਰੋਵੈ ਧਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
हउमै जगतु दुखि रोगि विआपिआ मरि जनमै रोवै धाही ॥१॥
Ha▫umæ jagaṫ ḋukʰ rog vi▫aapi▫aa mar janmæ rovæ ḋʰaahee. ||1||
The world is afflicted with the painful disease of egotism; dying, only to be reborn, it cries out in pain. ||1||
|
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
प्राणी सतिगुरु सेवि सुखु पाइ ॥
Paraaṇee saṫgur sév sukʰ paa▫é.
O mind, serve the True Guru, and obtain peace.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਤ ਜਾਹਿਗਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवहि ता सुखु पावहि नाहि त जाहिगा जनमु गवाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṫgur sévėh ṫaa sukʰ paavahi naahi ṫa jaahigaa janam gavaa▫é. Rahaa▫o.
If you serve the True Guru, you shall find peace; otherwise, you shall depart, after wasting away your life in vain. ||Pause||

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਧਾਤੁ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
त्रै गुण धातु बहु करम कमावहि हरि रस सादु न आइआ ॥
Ṫaræ guṇ ḋʰaaṫ baho karam kamaavėh har ras saaḋ na aa▫i▫aa.
Led around by the three qualities, he does many deeds, but he does not come to taste and savor the subtle essence of the Lord.

ਸੰਧਿਆ ਤਰਪਣੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
संधिआ तरपणु करहि गाइत्री बिनु बूझे दुखु पाइआ ॥२॥
Sanḋʰi▫aa ṫarpaṇ karahi gaa▫iṫaree bin boojʰé ḋukʰ paa▫i▫aa. ||2||
He says his evening prayers, and makes offerings of water, and recites his morning prayers, but without true understanding, he still suffers in pain. ||2||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवे सो वडभागी जिस नो आपि मिलाए ॥
Saṫgur sévé so vadbʰaagee jis no aap milaa▫é.
One who serves the True Guru is very fortunate; as the Lord so wills, he meets with the Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੩॥
हरि रसु पी जन सदा त्रिपतासे विचहु आपु गवाए ॥३॥
Har ras pee jan saḋaa ṫaripṫaasé vichahu aap gavaa▫é. ||3||
Drinking in the sublime essence of the Lord, His humble servants remain ever satisfied; they eradicate self-conceit from within themselves. ||3||

ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਸਭੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
इहु जगु अंधा सभु अंधु कमावै बिनु गुर मगु न पाए ॥
Ih jag anḋʰaa sabʰ anḋʰ kamaavæ bin gur mag na paa▫é.
This world is blind, and all act blindly; without the Guru, no one finds the Path.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਅਖੀ ਵੇਖੈ ਘਰੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
नानक सतिगुरु मिलै त अखी वेखै घरै अंदरि सचु पाए ॥४॥१०॥
Naanak saṫgur milæ ṫa akʰee vékʰæ gʰaræ anḋar sach paa▫é. ||4||10||
O Nanak! Meeting with the True Guru, one sees with his eyes, and finds the True Lord within the home of his own being. ||4||10||

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे बहुता दुखु लागा जुग चारे भरमाई ॥
Bin saṫgur sévé bahuṫaa ḋukʰ laagaa jug chaaré bʰarmaa▫ee.
Without serving the True Guru, he suffers in terrible pain, and throughout the four ages, he wanders aimlessly.

ਹਮ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਮ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਸਬਦੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥
हम दीन तुम जुगु जुगु दाते सबदे देहि बुझाई ॥१॥
Ham ḋeen ṫum jug jug ḋaaṫé sabḋé ḋėh bujʰaa▫ee. ||1||
I am poor and meek, and throughout the ages, You are the Great Giver - please, grant me the understanding of the Shabad. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
हरि जीउ क्रिपा करहु तुम पिआरे ॥
Har jee▫o kirpaa karahu ṫum pi▫aaré.
O Dear Beloved Lord, please show mercy to me.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਆਧਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु दाता मेलि मिलावहु हरि नामु देवहु आधारे ॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṫgur ḋaaṫaa mél milaavhu har naam ḋévhu aaḋʰaaré. Rahaa▫o.
Unite me in the Union of the True Guru, the Great Giver, and give me the support of the Lord’s Name. ||Pause||

ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
मनसा मारि दुबिधा सहजि समाणी पाइआ नामु अपारा ॥
Mansaa maar ḋubiḋʰaa sahj samaaṇee paa▫i▫aa naam apaaraa.
Conquering my desires and duality, I have merged in celestial peace, and I have found the Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
हरि रसु चाखि मनु निरमलु होआ किलबिख काटणहारा ॥२॥
Har ras chaakʰ man nirmal ho▫aa kilbikʰ kaataṇhaaraa. ||2||
I have tasted the sublime essence of the Lord, and my soul has become immaculately pure; the Lord is the Destroyer of sins. ||2||
