Soratʰ mėhlaa 5.
Sorat’h, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕੀਤੀ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
गुरि पूरै कीती पूरी ॥
Gur pooræ keeṫee pooree.
The Perfect Guru has made me perfect.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੀ ॥
प्रभु रवि रहिआ भरपूरी ॥
Parabʰ rav rahi▫aa bʰarpooree.
God is totally pervading and permeating everywhere.
|
ਖੇਮ ਕੁਸਲ ਭਇਆ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥
खेम कुसल भइआ इसनाना ॥
Kʰém kusal bʰa▫i▫aa isnaanaa.
With joy and pleasure, I take my purifying bath.
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
पारब्रहम विटहु कुरबाना ॥१॥
Paarbarahm vitahu kurbaanaa. ||1||
I am a sacrifice to the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਵਲ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
गुर के चरन कवल रिद धारे ॥
Gur ké charan kaval riḋ ḋʰaaré.
I enshrine the lotus feet of the Guru within my heart.

ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਿਲ ਕਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बिघनु न लागै तिल का कोई कारज सगल सवारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bigʰan na laagæ ṫil kaa ko▫ee kaaraj sagal savaaré. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Not even the tiniest obstacle blocks my way; all my affairs are resolved. ||1||Pause||
|
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਏ ॥
मिलि साधू दुरमति खोए ॥
Mil saaḋʰoo ḋurmaṫ kʰo▫é.
Meeting with the Holy Saints, my evil-mindedness was eradicated.
|
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਸਭ ਹੋਏ ॥
पतित पुनीत सभ होए ॥
Paṫiṫ puneeṫ sabʰ ho▫é.
All the sinners are purified.
|
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਿ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਨਾਤੇ ॥
रामदासि सरोवर नाते ॥
Raamḋaas sarovar naaṫé.
Bathing in the sacred pool of Guru Ram Das,
|
ਸਭ ਲਾਥੇ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਤੇ ॥੨॥
सभ लाथे पाप कमाते ॥२॥
Sabʰ laaṫʰé paap kamaaṫé. ||2||
all the sins one has committed are washed away. ||2||
|
ਗੁਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
गुन गोबिंद नित गाईऐ ॥
Gun gobinḋ niṫ gaa▫ee▫æ.
So, sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe;
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
साधसंगि मिलि धिआईऐ ॥
Saaḋʰsang mil ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ.
joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, meditate on Him.

ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥
मन बांछत फल पाए ॥
Man baaⁿchʰaṫ fal paa▫é.
The fruits of your mind’s desires are obtained
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੩॥
गुरु पूरा रिदै धिआए ॥३॥
Gur pooraa riḋæ ḋʰi▫aa▫é. ||3||
by meditating on the Perfect Guru within your heart. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
गुर गोपाल आनंदा ॥
Gur gopaal aananḋaa.
The Guru, the Lord of the World, is blissful;
|
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥
जपि जपि जीवै परमानंदा ॥
Jap jap jeevæ parmaananḋaa.
chanting, meditating on the Lord of supreme bliss, He lives.
|
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
जन नानक नामु धिआइआ ॥
Jan Naanak naam ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa.
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਰਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੦॥
प्रभ अपना बिरदु रखाइआ ॥४॥१०॥६०॥
Parabʰ apnaa biraḋ rakʰaa▫i▫aa. ||4||10||60||
God has confirmed His innate nature. ||4||10||60||

Sorat’h, Fifth Mehl:

ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਮੇਘ ਘਟਾ ਘਟ ਦਾਮਨਿ ਚਮਕਿ ਡਰਾਇਓ ॥
दह दिस छत्र मेघ घटा घट दामनि चमकि डराइओ ॥
Ḋah ḋis chʰaṫar mégʰ gʰataa gʰat ḋaaman chamak daraa▫i▫o.
In the ten directions, the clouds cover the sky like a canopy; through the dark clouds, lightning flashes, and I am terrified.

ਸੇਜ ਇਕੇਲੀ ਨੀਦ ਨਹੁ ਨੈਨਹ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਸਿਧਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
सेज इकेली नीद नहु नैनह पिरु परदेसि सिधाइओ ॥१॥
Séj ikélee neeḋ nahu nænah pir parḋés siḋʰaa▫i▫o. ||1||
My bed is empty, and my eyes are sleepless; my Husband Lord has gone far away. ||1||
|
ਹੁਣਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਦੇਸਰੋ ਮਾਇਓ ॥
हुणि नही संदेसरो माइओ ॥
Huṇ nahee sanḋésaro maa▫i▫o.
Now, I receive no messages from Him, O mother!
|
ਏਕ ਕੋਸਰੋ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਰਤ ਲਾਲੁ ਤਬ ਚਤੁਰ ਪਾਤਰੋ ਆਇਓ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
एक कोसरो सिधि करत लालु तब चतुर पातरो आइओ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ék kosro siḋʰ karaṫ laal ṫab chaṫur paaṫro aa▫i▫o. Rahaa▫o.
When my Beloved used to go even a mile away, He would send me four letters. ||Pause||

ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਓ ॥
किउ बिसरै इहु लालु पिआरो सरब गुणा सुखदाइओ ॥
Ki▫o bisræ ih laal pi▫aaro sarab guṇaa sukʰ▫ḋaa▫i▫o.
How could I forget this Dear Beloved of mine? He is the Giver of peace, and all virtues.

ਮੰਦਰਿ ਚਰਿ ਕੈ ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਉ ਨੈਨ ਨੀਰਿ ਭਰਿ ਆਇਓ ॥੨॥
मंदरि चरि कै पंथु निहारउ नैन नीरि भरि आइओ ॥२॥
Manḋar char kæ panṫʰ nihaara▫o næn neer bʰar aa▫i▫o. ||2||
Ascending to His Mansion, I gaze upon His path, and my eyes are filled with tears. ||2||
|
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਭੀਤਿ ਭਇਓ ਹੈ ਬੀਚੋ ਸੁਨਤ ਦੇਸਿ ਨਿਕਟਾਇਓ ॥
हउ हउ भीति भइओ है बीचो सुनत देसि निकटाइओ ॥
Ha▫o ha▫o bʰeeṫ bʰa▫i▫o hæ beecho sunaṫ ḋés niktaa▫i▫o.
The wall of egotism and pride separates us, but I can hear Him nearby.

ਭਾਂਭੀਰੀ ਕੇ ਪਾਤ ਪਰਦੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੇਖੇ ਦੂਰਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
भांभीरी के पात परदो बिनु पेखे दूराइओ ॥३॥
Bʰaaⁿbʰeeree ké paaṫ parḋo bin pékʰé ḋooraa▫i▫o. ||3||
There is a veil between us, like the wings of a butterfly; without being able to see Him, He seems so far away. ||3||
|
ਭਇਓ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਗਰੋ ਦੂਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਓ ॥
भइओ किरपालु सरब को ठाकुरु सगरो दूखु मिटाइओ ॥
Bʰa▫i▫o kirpaal sarab ko tʰaakur sagro ḋookʰ mitaa▫i▫o.
The Lord and Master of all has become merciful; He has dispelled all my sufferings.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਭੀਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਈ ਤਉ ਦਇਆਰੁ ਬੀਠਲੋ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੪॥
कहु नानक हउमै भीति गुरि खोई तउ दइआरु बीठलो पाइओ ॥४॥
Kaho Naanak ha▫umæ bʰeeṫ gur kʰo▫ee ṫa▫o ḋa▫i▫aar beetʰlo paa▫i▫o. ||4||
Says Nanak, when the Guru tore down the wall of egotism, then, I found my Merciful Lord and Master. ||4||
|
ਸਭੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਅੰਦੇਸਰੋ ਮਾਇਓ ॥
सभु रहिओ अंदेसरो माइओ ॥
Sabʰ rahi▫o anḋésro maa▫i▫o.
All my fears have been dispelled, O mother!
|
ਜੋ ਚਾਹਤ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ॥
जो चाहत सो गुरू मिलाइओ ॥
Jo chaahaṫ so guroo milaa▫i▫o.
Whoever I seek, the Guru leads me to find.
|
ਸਰਬ ਗੁਨਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਾਇਓ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧੧॥੬੧॥
सरब गुना निधि राइओ ॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥११॥६१॥
Sarab gunaa niḋʰ raa▫i▫o. Rahaa▫o ḋoojaa. ||11||61||
The Lord, our King, is the treasure of all virtue. ||Second. Pause||11||61||

ਗਈ ਬਹੋੜੁ ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਦੁਖਦਾਰੀ ॥
गई बहोड़ु बंदी छोड़ु निरंकारु दुखदारी ॥
Ga▫ee bahoṛ banḋee chʰoṛ nirankaar ḋukʰ▫ḋaaree.
The Restorer of what was taken away, the Liberator from captivity; the Formless Lord, the Destroyer of pain.

ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ॥
करमु न जाणा धरमु न जाणा लोभी माइआधारी ॥
Karam na jaaṇaa ḋʰaram na jaaṇaa lobʰee maa▫i▫aaḋʰaaree.
I do not know about karma and good deeds; I do not know about Dharma and righteous living. I am so greedy, chasing after Maya.

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਭਗਤੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਇਹ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
नामु परिओ भगतु गोविंद का इह राखहु पैज तुमारी ॥१॥
Naam pari▫o bʰagaṫ govinḋ kaa ih raakʰo pæj ṫumaaree. ||1||
I go by the name of God’s devotee; please, save this honor of Yours. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
हरि जीउ निमाणिआ तू माणु ॥
Har jee▫o nimaaṇi▫aa ṫoo maaṇ.
O Dear Lord, You are the honor of the dishonored.
|
ਨਿਚੀਜਿਆ ਚੀਜ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
निचीजिआ चीज करे मेरा गोविंदु तेरी कुदरति कउ कुरबाणु ॥ रहाउ ॥
Nicheeji▫aa cheej karé méraa govinḋ ṫéree kuḋraṫ ka▫o kurbaaṇ. Rahaa▫o.
You make the unworthy ones worthy, O my Lord of the Universe; I am a sacrifice to Your almighty creative power. ||Pause||

ਜੈਸਾ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਲਖ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
जैसा बालकु भाइ सुभाई लख अपराध कमावै ॥
Jæsaa baalak bʰaa▫é subʰaa▫ee lakʰ apraaḋʰ kamaavæ.
Like the child, innocently making thousands of mistakes -
|
ਕਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
करि उपदेसु झिड़के बहु भाती बहुड़ि पिता गलि लावै ॥
Kar upḋés jʰiṛké baho bʰaaṫee bahuṛ piṫaa gal laavæ.
his father teaches him, and scolds him so many times, but still, he hugs him close in his embrace.
|
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਉਗੁਣ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
पिछले अउगुण बखसि लए प्रभु आगै मारगि पावै ॥२॥
Pichʰlé a▫oguṇ bakʰas la▫é parabʰ aagæ maarag paavæ. ||2||
Please forgive my past actions, God, and place me on Your path for the future. ||2||
|
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ॥
हरि अंतरजामी सभ बिधि जाणै ता किसु पहि आखि सुणाईऐ ॥
Har anṫarjaamee sabʰ biḋʰ jaaṇæ ṫaa kis pėh aakʰ suṇaa▫ee▫æ.
The Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, knows all about my state of mind; so who else should I go to and speak to?
|
ਕਹਣੈ ਕਥਨਿ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈਐ ॥
कहणै कथनि न भीजै गोबिंदु हरि भावै पैज रखाईऐ ॥
Kahṇæ kaṫʰan na bʰeejæ gobinḋ har bʰaavæ pæj rakʰaa▫ee▫æ.
The Lord, the Lord of the Universe, is not pleased by mere recitation of words; if it is pleasing to His Will, He preserves our honor.

ਅਵਰ ਓਟ ਮੈ ਸਗਲੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਰਹਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
अवर ओट मै सगली देखी इक तेरी ओट रहाईऐ ॥३॥
Avar ot mæ saglee ḋékʰee ik ṫéree ot rahaa▫ee▫æ. ||3||
I have seen all other shelters, but Yours alone remains for me. ||3||
