ਜਬ ਨਖ ਸਿਖ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚੀਨੑਾ ॥
जब नख सिख इहु मनु चीन्हा ॥
Jab nakʰ sikʰ ih man cheenĥaa.
When I came to understand this mind, from the tips of my toes to the crown of my head,

ਤਬ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਕੀਨੑਾ ॥੧॥
तब अंतरि मजनु कीन्हा ॥१॥
Ṫab anṫar majan keenĥaa. ||1||
then I took my cleansing bath, deep within myself. ||1||
|
ਪਵਨਪਤਿ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਰਹਨੁ ਖਰਾ ॥
पवनपति उनमनि रहनु खरा ॥
Pavanpaṫ unman rahan kʰaraa.
The mind, the master of the breath, abides in the state of supreme bliss.

ਨਹੀ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नही मिरतु न जनमु जरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nahee miraṫ na janam jaraa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
There is no death, no re-birth, and no aging for me now. ||1||Pause||

ਉਲਟੀ ਲੇ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਹਾਰੰ ॥
उलटी ले सकति सहारं ॥
Ultee lé sakaṫ sahaaraⁿ.
Turning away from materialism, I have found intuitive support.

ਪੈਸੀਲੇ ਗਗਨ ਮਝਾਰੰ ॥
पैसीले गगन मझारं ॥
Pæseelé gagan majʰaaraⁿ.
I have entered into the sky of the mind, and opened the Tenth Gate.

ਬੇਧੀਅਲੇ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਭੁਅੰਗਾ ॥
बेधीअले चक्र भुअंगा ॥
Béḋʰee▫alé chakar bʰuangaa.
The chakras of the coiled Kundalini energy have been opened,
|
ਭੇਟੀਅਲੇ ਰਾਇ ਨਿਸੰਗਾ ॥੨॥
भेटीअले राइ निसंगा ॥२॥
Bʰétee▫alé raa▫é nisangaa. ||2||
and I have met my Sovereign Lord King without fear. ||2||
|
ਚੂਕੀਅਲੇ ਮੋਹ ਮਇਆਸਾ ॥
चूकीअले मोह मइआसा ॥
Chookee▫alé moh ma▫i▫aasaa.
My attachment to Maya has been eradicated;

ਸਸਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੂਰ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥
ससि कीनो सूर गिरासा ॥
Sas keeno soor giraasaa.
the moon energy has devoured the sun energy.

ਜਬ ਕੁੰਭਕੁ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ॥
जब कु्मभकु भरिपुरि लीणा ॥
Jab kumbʰak bʰaripur leeṇaa.
When I was focused and merged into the all-pervading Lord,
|
ਤਹ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਬੀਣਾ ॥੩॥
तह बाजे अनहद बीणा ॥३॥
Ṫah baajé anhaḋ beeṇaa. ||3||
then the unstruck sound current began to vibrate. ||3||

ਬਕਤੈ ਬਕਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਨਾਇਆ ॥
बकतै बकि सबदु सुनाइआ ॥
Bakṫæ bak sabaḋ sunaa▫i▫aa.
The Speaker has spoken, and proclaimed the Word of the Shabad.

ਸੁਨਤੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਬਸਾਇਆ ॥
सुनतै सुनि मंनि बसाइआ ॥
Sunṫæ sun man basaa▫i▫aa.
The hearer has heard, and enshrined it in the mind.

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰੰ ॥
करि करता उतरसि पारं ॥
Kar karṫaa uṫras paaraⁿ.
Chanting to the Creator, one crosses over.
|
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਸਾਰੰ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੦॥
कहै कबीरा सारं ॥४॥१॥१०॥
Kahæ kabeeraa saaraⁿ. ||4||1||10||
Says Kabir, this is the essence. ||4||1||10||

ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ॥
चंदु सूरजु दुइ जोति सरूपु ॥
Chanḋ sooraj ḋu▫é joṫ saroop.
The moon and the sun are both the embodiment of light.

ਜੋਤੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਅਨੂਪੁ ॥੧॥
जोती अंतरि ब्रहमु अनूपु ॥१॥
Joṫee anṫar barahm anoop. ||1||
Within their light, is God, the incomparable. ||1||

ਕਰੁ ਰੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
करु रे गिआनी ब्रहम बीचारु ॥
Kar ré gi▫aanee barahm beechaar.
O spiritual teacher, contemplate God.

ਜੋਤੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जोती अंतरि धरिआ पसारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Joṫee anṫar ḋʰari▫aa pasaar. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
In this light is contained the expanse of the created universe. ||1||Pause||

ਹੀਰਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਹੀਰੇ ਕਰਉ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥
हीरा देखि हीरे करउ आदेसु ॥
Heeraa ḋékʰ heeré kara▫o aaḋés.
Gazing upon the diamond, I humbly salute this diamond.

ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅਲੇਖੁ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੧॥
कहै कबीरु निरंजन अलेखु ॥२॥२॥११॥
Kahæ Kabeer niranjan alékʰ. ||2||2||11||
Says Kabir, the Immaculate Lord is indescribable. ||2||2||11||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਹੁਸੀਆਰ ਬੇਦਾਰ ਜਾਗਤ ਮੁਸੀਅਤ ਹਉ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
दुनीआ हुसीआर बेदार जागत मुसीअत हउ रे भाई ॥
Ḋunee▫aa husee▫aar béḋaar jaagaṫ musee▫aṫ ha▫o ré bʰaa▫ee.
People of the world remain awake and aware. Even though you are awake, you are being robbed, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਨਿਗਮ ਹੁਸੀਆਰ ਪਹਰੂਆ ਦੇਖਤ ਜਮੁ ਲੇ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
निगम हुसीआर पहरूआ देखत जमु ले जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nigam husee▫aar pahroo▫aa ḋékʰaṫ jam lé jaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
While the Vedas stand guard watching, the Messenger of Death carries you away. ||1||Pause||

ਨੀਬੁ ਭਇਓ ਆਂਬੁ ਆਂਬੁ ਭਇਓ ਨੀਬਾ ਕੇਲਾ ਪਾਕਾ ਝਾਰਿ ॥
नींबु भइओ आंबु आंबु भइओ नींबा केला पाका झारि ॥
Neemb bʰa▫i▫o aaⁿb aaⁿb bʰa▫i▫o neembaa kélaa paakaa jʰaar.
He thinks that the bitter neem fruit is a mango, and the mango is a bitter neem. He imagines the ripe banana on the thorny bush.

ਨਾਲੀਏਰ ਫਲੁ ਸੇਬਰਿ ਪਾਕਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥
नालीएर फलु सेबरि पाका मूरख मुगध गवार ॥१॥
Naalee▫ér fal sébar paakaa moorakʰ mugaḋʰ gavaar. ||1||
He thinks that the ripe coconut hangs on the barren Simmal tree; what a stupid, idiotic fool he is! ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਭਇਓ ਖਾਂਡੁ ਰੇਤੁ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਖਰਿਓ ਹਸਤੀ ਚੁਨਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
हरि भइओ खांडु रेतु महि बिखरिओ हसतीं चुनिओ न जाई ॥
Har bʰa▫i▫o kʰaaⁿd réṫ mėh bikʰri▫o hasṫeeⁿ chuni▫o na jaa▫ee.
The Lord is like sugar, spilled onto the sand; the elephant cannot pick it up.

ਕਹਿ ਕਮੀਰ ਕੁਲ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਂਤਿ ਤਜਿ ਚੀਟੀ ਹੋਇ ਚੁਨਿ ਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੨॥
कहि कमीर कुल जाति पांति तजि चीटी होइ चुनि खाई ॥२॥३॥१२॥
Kahi kameer kul jaaṫ paaⁿṫ ṫaj cheetee ho▫é chun kʰaa▫ee. ||2||3||12||
Says Kabir, give up your ancestry, social status and honor; be like the tiny ant - pick up and eat the sugar. ||2||3||12||

आनीले कागदु काटीले गूडी आकास मधे भरमीअले ॥
Aaneelé kaagaḋ kaateelé goodee aakaas maḋʰé bʰarmee▫alé.
The boy takes paper, cuts it and makes a kite, and flies it in the sky.

ਪੰਚ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਤ ਬਤਊਆ ਚੀਤੁ ਸੁ ਡੋਰੀ ਰਾਖੀਅਲੇ ॥੧॥
पंच जना सिउ बात बतऊआ चीतु सु डोरी राखीअले ॥१॥
Panch janaa si▫o baaṫ baṫa▫oo▫aa cheeṫ so doree raakʰee▫alé. ||1||
Talking with his friends, he still keeps his attention on the kite string. ||1||

ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਬੇਧੀਅਲੇ ॥
मनु राम नामा बेधीअले ॥
Man raam naamaa béḋʰee▫alé.
My mind has been pierced by the Name of the Lord,

ਜੈਸੇ ਕਨਿਕ ਕਲਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਮਾਂਡੀਅਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जैसे कनिक कला चितु मांडीअले ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jæsé kanik kalaa chiṫ maaⁿdee▫alé. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
like the goldsmith, whose attention is held by his work. ||1||Pause||

ਆਨੀਲੇ ਕੁੰਭੁ ਭਰਾਈਲੇ ਊਦਕ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਆਰਿ ਪੁਰੰਦਰੀਏ ॥
आनीले कु्मभु भराईले ऊदक राज कुआरि पुरंदरीए ॥
Aaneelé kumbʰ bʰaraa▫eelé ooḋak raaj ku▫aar puranḋree▫é.
The young girl in the city takes a pitcher, and fills it with water.

ਹਸਤ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਕਰਤੀ ਹੈ ਚੀਤੁ ਸੁ ਗਾਗਰਿ ਰਾਖੀਅਲੇ ॥੨॥
हसत बिनोद बीचार करती है चीतु सु गागरि राखीअले ॥२॥
Hasaṫ binoḋ beechaar karṫee hæ cheeṫ so gaagar raakʰee▫alé. ||2||
She laughs, and plays, and talks with her friends, but she keeps her attention focused on the pitcher of water. ||2||

ਮੰਦਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਦੁਆਰ ਦਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਗਊ ਚਰਾਵਨ ਛਾਡੀਅਲੇ ॥
मंदरु एकु दुआर दस जा के गऊ चरावन छाडीअले ॥
Manḋar ék ḋu▫aar ḋas jaa ké ga▫oo charaavan chʰaadee▫alé.
The cow is let loose, out of the mansion of the ten gates, to graze in the field.

ਪਾਂਚ ਕੋਸ ਪਰ ਗਊ ਚਰਾਵਤ ਚੀਤੁ ਸੁ ਬਛਰਾ ਰਾਖੀਅਲੇ ॥੩॥
पांच कोस पर गऊ चरावत चीतु सु बछरा राखीअले ॥३॥
Paaⁿch kos par ga▫oo charaavaṫ cheeṫ so bachʰraa raakʰee▫alé. ||3||
It grazes up to five miles away, but keeps its attention focused on its calf. ||3||

ਕਹਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤਿਲੋਚਨ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਪਾਲਨ ਪਉਢੀਅਲੇ ॥
कहत नामदेउ सुनहु तिलोचन बालकु पालन पउढीअले ॥
Kahaṫ naamḋé▫o sunhu ṫilochan baalak paalan pa▫udʰee▫alé.
Says Namdev, listen, O Trilochan: the child is laid down in the cradle.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਬਿਰੂਧੀ ਚੀਤੁ ਸੁ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਰਾਖੀਅਲੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
अंतरि बाहरि काज बिरूधी चीतु सु बारिक राखीअले ॥४॥१॥
Anṫar baahar kaaj birooḋʰee cheeṫ so baarik raakʰee▫alé. ||4||1||
Its mother is at work, inside and outside, but she holds her child in her thoughts. ||4||1||

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਆਨੰਤਾ ਗੀਤ ਕਬਿਤ ਨ ਗਾਵਉਗੋ ॥
बेद पुरान सासत्र आनंता गीत कबित न गावउगो ॥
Béḋ puraan saasṫar aananṫaa geeṫ kabiṫ na gaav▫ogo.
There are countless Vedas, Puranas and Shastras; I do not sing their songs and hymns.
