ਬੂਝਤ ਦੀਪਕ ਮਿਲਤ ਤਿਲਤ ॥
बूझत दीपक मिलत तिलत ॥
Boojʰaṫ ḋeepak milaṫ ṫilaṫ.
It is like oil to the lamp whose flame is dying out.

ਜਲਤ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਨੀਰ ॥
जलत अगनी मिलत नीर ॥
Jalaṫ agnee milaṫ neer.
It is like water poured on the burning fire.
|
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਮੁਖਹਿ ਖੀਰ ॥੧॥
जैसे बारिक मुखहि खीर ॥१॥
Jæsé baarik mukʰėh kʰeer. ||1||
It is like milk poured into the baby’s mouth. ||1||
|
ਜੈਸੇ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਸਖਾ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ॥
जैसे रण महि सखा भ्रात ॥
Jæsé raṇ mėh sakʰaa bʰaraaṫ.
As one’s brother becomes a helper on the field of battle;

ਜੈਸੇ ਭੂਖੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਮਾਤ ॥
जैसे भूखे भोजन मात ॥
Jæsé bʰookʰé bʰojan maaṫ.
as one’s hunger is satisfied by food;
|
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਿਰਖਹਿ ਬਰਸ ਮੇਘ ॥
जैसे किरखहि बरस मेघ ॥
Jæsé kirkʰahi baras mégʰ.
as the cloudburst saves the crops;
|
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਲਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੇਂਘ ॥੨॥
जैसे पालन सरनि सेंघ ॥२॥
Jæsé paalan saran séⁿgʰ. ||2||
as one is protected in the tiger’s lair;||2||
|
ਗਰੁੜ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਰਪ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
गरुड़ मुखि नही सरप त्रास ॥
Garuṛ mukʰ nahee sarap ṫaraas.
As with the magic spell of Garuda the eagle upon one’s lips, one does not fear the snake;

ਸੂਆ ਪਿੰਜਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਖਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਸੁ ॥
सूआ पिंजरि नही खाइ बिलासु ॥
Soo▫aa pinjar nahee kʰaa▫é bilaas.
as the cat cannot eat the parrot in its cage;

ਜੈਸੋ ਆਂਡੋ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
जैसो आंडो हिरदे माहि ॥
Jæso aaⁿdo hirḋé maahi.
as the bird cherishes her eggs in her heart;
|
ਜੈਸੋ ਦਾਨੋ ਚਕੀ ਦਰਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
जैसो दानो चकी दराहि ॥३॥
Jæso ḋaano chakee ḋaraahi. ||3||
as the grains are spared, by sticking to the central post of the mill;||3||
|
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਓਪਮਾ ਥੋਰ ਕਹੀ ॥
बहुतु ओपमा थोर कही ॥
Bahuṫ opmaa ṫʰor kahee.
Your Glory is so great; I can describe only a tiny bit of it.
|
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਤੁਹੀ ॥
हरि अगम अगम अगाधि तुही ॥
Har agam agam agaaḋʰ ṫuhee.
O Lord, You are inaccessible, unapproachable and unfathomable.

ਊਚ ਮੂਚੌ ਬਹੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ऊच मूचौ बहु अपार ॥
Ooch moochou baho apaar.
You are lofty and high, utterly great and infinite.
|
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਰ ॥੪॥੩॥
सिमरत नानक तरे सार ॥४॥३॥
Simraṫ Naanak ṫaré saar. ||4||3||
Meditating in remembrance of the Lord, O Nanak! One is carried across. ||4||3||

माली गउड़ा महला ५ ॥
Maalee ga▫uṛaa mėhlaa 5.
Maalee Gauraa, Fifth Mehl:

ਇਹੀ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਸਫਲ ਕਾਜ ॥
इही हमारै सफल काज ॥
Ihee hamaaræ safal kaaj.
Please let my tasks be rewarding and fruitful.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अपुने दास कउ लेहु निवाजि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Apuné ḋaas ka▫o lého nivaaj. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Please cherish and exalt Your slave. ||1||Pause||

ਚਰਨ ਸੰਤਹ ਮਾਥ ਮੋਰ ॥
चरन संतह माथ मोर ॥
Charan sanṫėh maaṫʰ mor.
I lay my forehead on the feet of the Saints,
|
ਨੈਨਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਉ ਨਿਸਿ ਭੋਰ ॥
नैनि दरसु पेखउ निसि भोर ॥
Næn ḋaras pékʰa▫o nis bʰor.
and with my eyes, I gaze upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, day and night.

ਹਸਤ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲ ॥
हसत हमरे संत टहल ॥
Hasaṫ hamré sanṫ tahal.
With my hands, I work for the Saints.
|
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਬਹਲ ॥੧॥
प्रान मनु धनु संत बहल ॥१॥
Paraan man ḋʰan sanṫ bahal. ||1||
I dedicate my breath of life, my mind and wealth to the Saints. ||1||
|
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
संतसंगि मेरे मन की प्रीति ॥
Saṫsang méré man kee pareeṫ.
My mind loves the Society of the Saints.
|
ਸੰਤ ਗੁਨ ਬਸਹਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
संत गुन बसहि मेरै चीति ॥
Sanṫ gun basėh méræ cheeṫ.
The Virtues of the Saints abide within my consciousness.
|
ਸੰਤ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੀਠ ॥
संत आगिआ मनहि मीठ ॥
Sanṫ aagi▫aa manėh meetʰ.
The Will of the Saints is sweet to my mind.
|
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸੰਤ ਡੀਠ ॥੨॥
मेरा कमलु बिगसै संत डीठ ॥२॥
Méraa kamal bigsæ sanṫ deetʰ. ||2||
Seeing the Saints, my heart-lotus blossoms forth. ||2||
|
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
संतसंगि मेरा होइ निवासु ॥
Saṫsang méraa ho▫é nivaas.
I dwell in the Society of the Saints.
|
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
संतन की मोहि बहुतु पिआस ॥
Sanṫan kee mohi bahuṫ pi▫aas.
I have such a great thirst for the Saints.
|
ਸੰਤ ਬਚਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੰਤ ॥
संत बचन मेरे मनहि मंत ॥
Sanṫ bachan méré manėh manṫ.
The Words of the Saints are the Mantras of my mind.
|
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੰਤ ॥੩॥
संत प्रसादि मेरे बिखै हंत ॥३॥
Sanṫ parsaaḋ méré bikʰæ hanṫ. ||3||
By the Grace of the Saints, my corruption is taken away. ||3||
|
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਏਹਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
मुकति जुगति एहा निधान ॥
Mukaṫ jugaṫ éhaa niḋʰaan.
This way of liberation is my treasure.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨ ॥
प्रभ दइआल मोहि देवहु दान ॥
Parabʰ ḋa▫i▫aal mohi ḋévhu ḋaan.
O Merciful God, please bless me with this gift.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
नानक कउ प्रभ दइआ धारि ॥
Naanak ka▫o parabʰ ḋa▫i▫aa ḋʰaar.
O God, shower Your Mercy upon Nanak.

ਚਰਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੪॥
चरन संतन के मेरे रिदे मझारि ॥४॥४॥
Charan sanṫan ké méré riḋé majʰaar. ||4||4||
I have enshrined the feet of the Saints within my heart. ||4||4||

ਮਾਲੀ ਗਉੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
माली गउड़ा महला ५ ॥
Maalee ga▫uṛaa mėhlaa 5.
Maalee Gauraa, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਭ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
सभ कै संगी नाही दूरि ॥
Sabʰ kæ sangee naahee ḋoor.
He is with all; He is not far away.
|
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਹਾਜਰਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
करन करावन हाजरा हजूरि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Karan karaavan haajraa hajoor. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
He is the Cause of all causes, ever-present here and now. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੁਨਤ ਜੀਓ ਜਾਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
सुनत जीओ जासु नामु ॥
Sunaṫ jee▫o jaas naam.
Hearing His Name, one comes to life.
|
ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਓ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
दुख बिनसे सुख कीओ बिस्रामु ॥
Ḋukʰ binsé sukʰ kee▫o bisraam.
Pain is dispelled; peace and tranquility come to dwell within.
|
ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
सगल निधि हरि हरि हरे ॥
Sagal niḋʰ har har haré.
The Lord, Har, Har, is all treasure.
|
ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
मुनि जन ता की सेव करे ॥१॥
Mun jan ṫaa kee sév karé. ||1||
The silent sages serve Him. ||1||
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
जा कै घरि सगले समाहि ॥
Jaa kæ gʰar saglé samaahi.
Everything is contained in His home.
|
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
जिस ते बिरथा कोइ नाहि ॥
Jis ṫé birṫʰaa ko▫é naahi.
No one is turned away empty-handed.
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
जीअ जंत्र करे प्रतिपाल ॥
Jee▫a janṫar karé parṫipaal.
He cherishes all beings and creatures.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੨॥
सदा सदा सेवहु किरपाल ॥२॥
Saḋaa saḋaa sévhu kirpaal. ||2||
Forever and ever, serve the Merciful Lord. ||2||
|
ਸਦਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦੀਬਾਣਿ ॥
सदा धरमु जा कै दीबाणि ॥
Saḋaa ḋʰaram jaa kæ ḋeebaaṇ.
Righteous justice is dispensed in His Court forever.
|
ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਣਿ ॥
बेमुहताज नही किछु काणि ॥
Bémuhṫaaj nahee kichʰ kaaṇ.
He is carefree, and owes allegiance to no one.
|
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਨਾ ਆਪਨ ਆਪਿ ॥
सभ किछु करना आपन आपि ॥
Sabʰ kichʰ karnaa aapan aap.
He Himself, by Himself, does everything.
|
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੩॥
रे मन मेरे तू ता कउ जापि ॥३॥
Ré man méré ṫoo ṫaa ka▫o jaap. ||3||
O my mind! Meditate on Him. ||3||
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
साधसंगति कउ हउ बलिहार ॥
Saaḋʰsangaṫ ka▫o ha▫o balihaar.
I am a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
|
ਜਾਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
जासु मिलि होवै उधारु ॥
Jaas mil hovæ uḋʰaar.
Joining them, I am saved.
|
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਤਨਹਿ ਰਾਤ ॥
नाम संगि मन तनहि रात ॥
Naam sang man ṫanėh raaṫ.
My mind and body are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੫॥
नानक कउ प्रभि करी दाति ॥४॥५॥
Naanak ka▫o parabʰ karee ḋaaṫ. ||4||5||
God has blessed Nanak with this gift. ||4||5||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਹਰਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
हरि समरथ की सरना ॥
Har samraṫʰ kee sarnaa.
I seek the Sanctuary of the all-powerful Lord.
|
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जीउ पिंडु धनु रासि मेरी प्रभ एक कारन करना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jee▫o pind ḋʰan raas méree parabʰ ék kaaran karnaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
My soul, body, wealth and capital belong to the One God, the Cause of all causes. ||1||Pause||

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੀਵਣੈ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
सिमरि सिमरि सदा सुखु पाईऐ जीवणै का मूलु ॥
Simar simar saḋaa sukʰ paa▫ee▫æ jeevṇæ kaa mool.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance of Him, I have found everlasting peace. He is the source of life.

ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ ਠਾਈ ਸੂਖਮੋ ਅਸਥੂਲ ॥੧॥
रवि रहिआ सरबत ठाई सूखमो असथूल ॥१॥
Rav rahi▫aa sarbaṫ tʰaa▫ee sookʰmo asṫʰool. ||1||
He is all-pervading, permeating all places; He is in subtle essence and manifest form. ||1||
