gurmukh man mayray naam samaal.
As Gurmukh, O my mind, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

sdw inbhY clY qyrY nwil ] rhwau ] (560-1)
sadaa nibhai chalai tayrai naal. rahaa-o.
It shall stand by you always, and go with you. ||Pause||

gurmuiK jwiq piq scu soie ] (560-1)
gurmukh jaat pat sach so-ay.
The True Lord is the social status and honor of the Gurmukh.

gurmuiK AMqir sKweI pRBu hoie ]2] (560-2)
gurmukh antar sakhaa-ee parabh ho-ay. ||2||
Within the Gurmukh, is God, his friend and helper. ||2||

gurmuiK ijs no Awip kry so hoie ] (560-2)
gurmukh jis no aap karay so ho-ay.
He alone becomes Gurmukh, whom the Lord so blesses.

gurmuiK Awip vfweI dyvY soie ]3] (560-2)
gurmukh aap vadaa-ee dayvai so-ay. ||3||
He Himself blesses the Gurmukh with greatness. ||3||

gurmuiK sbdu scu krxI swru ] (560-3)
gurmukh sabad sach karnee saar.
The Gurmukh lives the True Word of the Shabad, and practices good deeds.

gurmuiK nwnk prvwrY swDwru ]4]6] (560-3)
gurmukh naanak parvaarai saaDhaar. ||4||6||
The Gurmukh, O Nanak, emancipates his family and relations. ||4||6||

rasnaa har saad lagee sahj subhaa-ay.
My tongue is intuitively attracted to the taste of the Lord.

mnu iqRpiqAw hir nwmu iDAwie ]1] (560-4)
man taripti-aa har naam Dhi-aa-ay. ||1||
My mind is satisfied, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1||

sdw suKu swcY sbid vIcwrI ] (560-5)
sadaa sukh saachai sabad veechaaree.
Lasting peace is obtained, contemplating the Shabad, the True Word of God.

Awpxy sqgur ivthu sdw bilhwrI ]1] rhwau ] (560-5)
aapnay satgur vitahu sadaa balihaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||Pause||

AKI sMqoKIAw eyk ilv lwie ] (560-5)
akhee santokhee-aa ayk liv laa-ay.
My eyes are content, lovingly focused on the One Lord.

mnu sMqoiKAw dUjw Bwau gvwie ]2] (560-6)
man santokhi-aa doojaa bhaa-o gavaa-ay. ||2||
My mind is content, having forsaken the love of duality. ||2||

dyh srIir suKu hovY sbid hir nwie ] (560-6)
dayh sareer sukh hovai sabad har naa-ay.
The frame of my body is at peace, through the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord.

nwmu prmlu ihrdY rihAw smwie ]3] (560-7)
naam parmal hirdai rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||3||
The fragrance of the Naam permeates my heart. ||3||

nwnk msqik ijsu vfBwgu ] (560-7)
naanak mastak jis vadbhaag.
O Nanak, one who has such great destiny written upon his forehead,

gur kI bwxI shj bYrwgu ]4]7] (560-7)
gur kee banee sahj bairaag. ||4||7||
through the Bani of the Guru's Word, easily and intuitively becomes free of desire. ||4||7||

pooray gur tay naam paa-i-aa jaa-ay.
From the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained.

sachai sabad sach samaa-ay. ||1||
Through the Shabad, the True Word of God, one merges in the True Lord. ||1||

ey mn nwmu inDwnu qU pwie ] (560-8)
ay man naam niDhaan too paa-ay.
O my soul, obtain the treasure of the Naam,

aapnay gur kee man lai rajaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
by submitting to the Will of your Guru. ||1||Pause||

gur kY sbid ivchu mYlu gvwie ] (560-9)
gur kai sabad vichahu mail gavaa-ay.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, filth is washed away from within.

inrmlu nwmu vsY min Awie ]2] (560-10)
nirmal naam vasai man aa-ay. ||2||
The Immaculate Naam comes to abide within the mind. ||2||

Brmy BUlw iPrY sMswru ] (560-10)
bharmay bhoolaa firai sansaar.
Deluded by doubt, the world wanders around.

mir jnmY jmu kry KuAwru ]3] (560-10)
mar janmai jam karay khu-aar. ||3||
It dies, and is born again, and is ruined by the Messenger of Death. ||3||

naanak say vadbhaagee jin har naam Dhi-aa-i-aa.
O Nanak, very fortunate are those who meditate on the Name of the Lord.

gur parsaadee man vasaa-i-aa. ||4||8||
By Guru's Grace, they enshrine the Name within their minds. ||4||8||

haumY nwvY nwil ivroDu hY duie n vsih iek Twie ] (560-12)
ha-umai naavai naal viroDh hai du-ay na vaseh ik thaa-ay.
Ego is opposed to the Name of the Lord; the two do not dwell in the same place.

haumY ivic syvw n hoveI qw mnu ibrQw jwie ]1] (560-12)
ha-umai vich sayvaa na hova-ee taa man birthaa jaa-ay. ||1||
In egotism, selfless service cannot be performed, and so the soul goes unfulfilled. ||1||

hir cyiq mn myry qU gur kw sbdu kmwie ] (560-13)
har chayt man mayray too gur kaa sabad kamaa-ay.
O my mind, think of the Lord, and practice the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

hukmu mMnih qw hir imlY qw ivchu haumY jwie ] rhwau ] (560-13)
hukam maneh taa har milai taa vichahu ha-umai jaa-ay. rahaa-o.
If you submit to the Hukam of the Lord's Command, then you shall meet with the Lord; only then will your ego depart from within. ||Pause||

haumY sBu srIru hY haumY Epiq hoie ] (560-14)
ha-umai sabh sareer hai ha-umai opat ho-ay.
Egotism is within all bodies; through egotism, we come to be born.

haumY vfw gubwru hY haumY ivic buiJ n skY koie ]2] (560-14)
ha-umai vadaa gubaar hai ha-umai vich bujh na sakai ko-ay. ||2||
Egotism is total darkness; in egotism, no one can understand anything. ||2||

haumY ivic Bgiq n hoveI hukmu n buiJAw jwie ] (560-15)
ha-umai vich bhagat na hova-ee hukam na bujhi-aa jaa-ay.
In egotism, devotional worship cannot be performed, and the Hukam of the Lord's Command cannot be understood.

haumY ivic jIau bMDu hY nwmu n vsY min Awie ]3] (560-15)
ha-umai vich jee-o banDh hai naam na vasai man aa-ay. ||3||
In egotism, the soul is in bondage, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not come to abide in the mind. ||3||

naanak satgur mili-ai ha-umai ga-ee taa sach vasi-aa man aa-ay.
O Nanak, meeting with the True Guru, egotism is eliminated, and then, the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind||

scu kmwvY sic rhY scy syiv smwie ]4]9]12] (560-17)
sach kamaavai sach rahai sachay sayv samaa-ay. ||4||9||12||
One starts practicing truth, abides in truth and by serving the True One gets absorbed in Him. ||4||9||12||

My mind longs to meet my Beloved Lord.
