mai ba-uree mayraa raam bhataar.
I am crazy - the Lord is my Husband.

ric ric qw kau krau isMgwru ]1] (1164-1)
rach rach taa ka-o kara-o singaar. ||1||
I decorate and adorn myself for Him. ||1||

Bly inMdau Bly inMdau Bly inMdau logu ] (1164-2)
bhalay ninda-o bhalay ninda-o bhalay ninda-o log.
Slander me well, slander me well, slander me well, O people.

qnu mnu rwm ipAwry jogu ]1] rhwau ] (1164-2)
tan man raam pi-aaray jog. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My body and mind are united with my Beloved Lord. ||1||Pause||

baad bibaad kaahoo si-o na keejai.
Do not engage in any arguments or debates with anyone.

rasnaa raam rasaa-in peejai. ||2||
With your tongue, savor the Lord's sublime essence. ||2||

Ab jIA jwin AYsI bin AweI ] (1164-3)
ab jee-a jaan aisee ban aa-ee.
Now, I know within my soul, that such an arrangement has been made;

imlau gupwl nIswnu bjweI ]3] (1164-4)
mila-o gupaal neesaan bajaa-ee. ||3||
I will meet with my Lord by the beat of the drum. ||3||

ausqiq inMdw krY nru koeI ] (1164-4)
ustat nindaa karai nar ko-ee.
Anyone can praise or slander me.

nwmy sRIrMgu Bytl soeI ]4]4] (1164-4)
naamay sareerang bhaytal so-ee. ||4||4||
Naam Dayv has met the Lord. ||4||4||

kabhoo kheer khaad ghee-o na bhaavai.
Sometimes, people do not appreciate milk, sugar and ghee.

kabhoo ghar ghar took magaavai.
Sometimes, they have to beg for bread from door to door.

kbhU kUrnu cny ibnwvY ]1] (1164-5)
kabhoo kooran chanay binaavai. ||1||
Sometimes, they have to pick out the grain from the chaff. ||1||

ji-o raam raakhai ti-o rahee-ai ray bhaa-ee.
As the Lord keeps us, so do we live, O Siblings of Destiny.

har kee mahimaa kichh kathan na jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Lord's Glory cannot even be described. ||1||Pause||

kabhoo turay turang nachaavai.
Sometimes, people prance around on horses.

kabhoo paa-ay panhee-o na paavai. ||2||
Sometimes, they do not even have shoes for their feet. ||2||

kbhU Kwt supydI suvwvY ] (1164-7)
kabhoo khaat supaydee suvaavai.
Sometimes, people sleep on cozy beds with white sheets.

kbhU BUim pYAwru n pwvY ]3] (1164-7)
kabhoo bhoom pai-aar na paavai. ||3||
Sometimes, they do not even have straw to put down on the ground. ||3||

Bniq nwmdyau ieku nwmu insqwrY ] (1164-8)
bhanat naamday-o ik naam nistaarai.
Naam Dayv prays, only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save us.

jih gur milai tih paar utaarai. ||4||5||
One who meets the Guru, is carried across to the other side. ||4||5||

hasat khaylat tayray dayhuray aa-i-aa.
Laughing and playing, I came to Your Temple, O Lord.

bhagat karat naamaa pakar uthaa-i-aa. ||1||
While Naam Dayv was worshipping, he was grabbed and driven out. ||1||

hInVI jwiq myrI jwidm rwieAw ] (1164-9)
heenrhee jaat mayree jaadim raa-i-aa.
I am of a low social class, O Lord;

CIpy ky jnim kwhy kau AwieAw ]1] rhwau ] (1164-10)
chheepay kay janam kaahay ka-o aa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
why was I born into a family of fabric dyers? ||1||Pause||

lai kamlee chali-o paltaa-ay.
I picked up my blanket and went back,

dyhurY pwCY bYTw jwie ]2] (1164-11)
dayhurai paachhai baithaa jaa-ay. ||2||
to sit behind the temple. ||2||

ijau ijau nwmw hir gux aucrY ] (1164-11)
ji-o ji-o naamaa har gun uchrai.
As Naam Dayv uttered the Glorious Praises of the Lord,

bhagat janaaN ka-o dayhuraa firai. ||3||6||
the temple turned around to face the Lord's humble devotee. ||3||6||

and the thirsty person is obsessed with water,

jaisee moorh kutamb paraa-in.
and as the fool is attached to his family

aisee naamay pareet naraa-in. ||1||
- just so, the Lord is very dear to Naam Dayv. ||1||

naamay pareet naaraa-in laagee.
Naam Dayv is in love with the Lord.

sahj subhaa-ay bha-i-o bairaagee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He has naturally and intuitively become detached from the world. ||1||Pause||

jaisee par purkhaa rat naaree.
Like the woman who falls in love with another man,

loBI nru Dn kw ihqkwrI ] (1164-15)
lobhee nar Dhan kaa hitkaaree.
and the greedy man who loves only wealth,

kwmI purK kwmnI ipAwrI ] (1164-15)
kaamee purakh kaamnee pi-aaree.
and the sexually promiscuous man who loves women and sex,

AYsI nwmy pRIiq murwrI ]2] (1164-15)
aisee naamay pareet muraaree. ||2||
just so, Naam Dayv is in love with the Lord. ||2||

sweI pRIiq ij Awpy lwey ] (1164-16)
saa-ee pareet je aapay laa-ay.
But that alone is real love, which the Lord Himself inspires;

gur prswdI duibDw jwey ] (1164-16)
gur parsaadee dubiDhaa jaa-ay.
by Guru's Grace, duality is eradicated.

kbhu n qUtis rihAw smwie ] (1164-16)
kabahu na tootas rahi-aa samaa-ay.
Such love never breaks; through it, the mortal remains merged in the Lord.

naamay chit laa-i-aa sach naa-ay. ||3||
Naam Dayv has focused his consciousness on the True Name. ||3||

jaisee pareet baarik ar maataa.
Like the love between the child and its mother,

so is my mind imbued with the Lord.

paranvai naamday-o laagee pareet.
Prays Naam Dayv, I am in love with the Lord.
