232 ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ Naam na cheeṫėh upaavaṇhaaraa. They do not remember the Name of the Creator Lord. ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ Mar jamėh fir vaaro vaaraa. ||2|| They die, and are reborn, over and over, again and again. ||2|| ਅੰਧੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ Anḋʰé guroo ṫé bʰaram na jaa▫ee. Those whose guru is spiritually blind - their doubts are not dispelled. ਮੂਲੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਈ ॥ Mool chʰod laagé ḋoojæ bʰaa▫ee. Abandoning the Source of all, they have become attached to the love of duality. ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥ Bikʰ kaa maaṫaa bikʰ maahi samaa▫ee. ||3|| Infected with poison, they are immersed in poison. ||3|| ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮੂਲੁ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਭਰਮਾਏ ॥ Maa▫i▫aa kar mool janṫar bʰarmaa▫é. Believing Maya to be the source of all, they wander in doubt. ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ॥ Har jee▫o visri▫aa ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é. They have forgotten the Dear Lord, and they are in love with duality. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥ Jis naḋar karé so param gaṫ paa▫é. ||4|| The supreme-status is obtained only by those who are blessed with His Glance of Grace. ||4|| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਰਤਾਏ ॥ Anṫar saach baahar saach varṫaa▫é. One who has Truth pervading within, radiates Truth outwardly as well. ਸਾਚੁ ਨ ਛਪੈ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਰਖੈ ਛਪਾਏ ॥ Saach na chʰapæ jé ko rakʰæ chʰapaa▫é. The Truth does not remain hidden, even though one may try to hide it. ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੫॥ Gi▫aanee boojʰėh sahj subʰaa▫é. ||5|| The spiritually wise know this intuitively. ||5|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ Gurmukʰ saach rahi▫aa liv laa▫é. The Gurmukhs keep their consciousness lovingly centered on the Lord. ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥ Ha▫umæ maa▫i▫aa sabaḋ jalaa▫é. Ego and Maya are burned away by the Word of the Shabad. ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੬॥ Méraa parabʰ saachaa mél milaa▫é. ||6|| My True God unites them in His Union. ||6|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥ Saṫgur ḋaaṫaa sabaḋ suṇaa▫é. The True Guru, The Giver, preaches the Shabad. ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥ Ḋʰaavaṫ raakʰæ tʰaak rahaa▫é. He controls, and restrains, and holds still the wandering mind. ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੭॥ Pooré gur ṫé sojʰee paa▫é. ||7|| Understanding is obtained through the Perfect Guru. ||7|| ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੋਈ ॥ Aapé karṫaa sarisat siraj jin go▫ee. The Creator Himself has created the universe; He Himself shall destroy it. ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ Ṫis bin ḋoojaa avar na ko▫ee. Without Him, there is no other at all. ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੮॥੬॥ Naanak gurmukʰ boojʰæ ko▫ee. ||8||6|| O Nanak! How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand this! ||8||6|| ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 3. Gauree, Third Mehl: ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ Naam amolak gurmukʰ paavæ. The Gurmukhs obtain the Naam, the Priceless Name of the Lord. ਨਾਮੋ ਸੇਵੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ Naamo sévé naam sahj samaavæ. They serve the Name, and through the Name, they are absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ Amriṫ naam rasnaa niṫ gaavæ. With their tongues, they continually sing the Ambrosial Naam. ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ Jis no kirpaa karé so har ras paavæ. ||1|| They obtain the Lord’s Name; the Lord showers His Mercy upon them. ||1|| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਉ ਜਗਦੀਸਾ ॥ An▫ḋin hirḋæ japa▫o jagḋeesaa. Night and day, within your heart, meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵਉ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਸੂਖਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Gurmukʰ paava▫o param paḋ sookʰaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. The Gurmukhs obtain the supreme state of peace. ||1||Pause|| ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸੂਖੁ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ Hirḋæ sookʰ bʰa▫i▫aa pargaas. Peace comes to fill the hearts of those ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ Gurmukʰ gaavahi sach guṇṫaas. who, being Gurmukh, sings of the True Lord, the treasure of excellence. ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸ ਨਿਤ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦਾਸੁ ॥ Ḋaasan ḋaas niṫ hovėh ḋaas. They become the constant slaves of the slaves of the Lord’s slaves. ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਮਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥੨॥ Garih kutamb mėh saḋaa uḋaas. ||2|| Within their households and families, they remain always detached. ||2|| ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋ ਹੋਈ ॥ Jeevan mukaṫ gurmukʰ ko ho▫ee. How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, become Jivan Mukta - liberated while still alive. ਪਰਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥ Param paḋaaraṫʰ paavæ so▫ee. They alone obtain the supreme treasure. ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਟੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ Ṫaræ guṇ mété nirmal ho▫ee. Eradicating the three qualities, they become pure. ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ Sėhjé saach milæ parabʰ so▫ee. ||3|| They are intuitively absorbed in the True Lord God. ||3|| ਮੋਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ Moh kutamb si▫o pareeṫ na ho▫é. Emotional attachment to family does not exist, ਜਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ Jaa hirḋæ vasi▫aa sach so▫é. when the True Lord abides within the heart. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ Gurmukʰ man béḋʰi▫aa asṫʰir ho▫é. The mind of the Gurmukh is pierced through and held steady. ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥ Hukam pachʰaaṇæ boojʰæ sach so▫é. ||4|| One who recognizes the Hukam of the Lord’s Command understands the True Lord. ||4|| ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ Ṫooⁿ karṫaa mæ avar na ko▫é. You are the Creator Lord - there is no other for me. ਤੁਝੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ Ṫujʰ sévee ṫujʰ ṫé paṫ ho▫é. I serve You, and through You, I obtain honor. ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਗਾਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ Kirpaa karahi gaavaa parabʰ so▫é. God showers His Mercy, and I sing His Praises. ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲੋਇ ॥੫॥ Naam raṫan sabʰ jag mėh lo▫é. ||5|| The light of the jewel of the Naam permeates the entire world. ||5|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੀਠੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ Gurmukʰ baṇee meetʰee laagee. To the Gurmukhs, the Word of God’s Bani seems so sweet. ਅੰਤਰੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ Anṫar bigsæ an▫ḋin liv laagee. Deep within, their hearts blossom forth; night and day, they lovingly center themselves on the Lord. ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ॥ Sėhjé sach mili▫aa parsaadee. The True Lord is intuitively obtained by His Grace. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੬॥ Saṫgur paa▫i▫aa pooræ vadbʰaagee. ||6|| The True Guru is obtained by the destiny of perfect good fortune. ||6|| ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸੁ ॥ Ha▫umæ mamṫaa ḋurmaṫ ḋukʰ naas. Egotism, possessiveness, evil-mindedness and suffering depart, ਜਬ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ Jab hirḋæ raam naam guṇṫaas. when the Lord’s Name, the Ocean of Virtue, comes to dwell within the heart. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਸੁ ॥ Gurmukʰ buḋʰ pargatee parabʰ jaas. The intellect of the Gurmukhs is awakened, and they praise God, ਜਬ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਵਿਆ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੭॥ Jab hirḋæ ravi▫aa charaṇ nivaas. ||7|| when the Lord’s Lotus Feet come to dwell within the heart. ||7|| ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ Jis naam ḋé▫é so▫ee jan paa▫é. They alone receive the Naam, unto whom it is given. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ Gurmukʰ mélé aap gavaa▫é. The Gurmukhs shed their ego, and merge with the Lord. ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ Hirḋæ saachaa naam vasaa▫é. The True Name abides within their hearts. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੮॥੭॥ Naanak sėhjé saach samaa▫é. ||8||7|| O Nanak! They are intuitively absorbed in the True Lord. ||8||7|| ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 3. Gauree, Third Mehl: ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਭੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ Man hee man savaari▫aa bʰæ sahj subʰaa▫é. The mind has intuitively healed itself, through the Fear of God. |
