ਕਹਤਿਅਹ ਕਹਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ ਰਹਤ ਕੋ ਖੁਸੀ ਨ ਆਯਉ ॥

Kėhṫi▫ah kahṫee suṇee rahaṫ ko kʰusee na aa▫ya▫o.

I listened to preachers and teachers, but I could not be happy with their lifestyles.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ॥

Har naam chʰod ḋoojæ lagé ṫinĥ ké guṇ ha▫o ki▫aa kaha▫o.

Those who have abandoned the Lord’s Name, and become attached to duality - why should I speak in praise of them?

ਗੁਰੁ ਦਯਿ ਮਿਲਾਯਉ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਵ ਤੂ ਰਖਹਿ ਤਿਵ ਰਹਉ ॥੨॥੨੦॥

Gur ḋa▫yi milaa▫ya▫o bʰikʰi▫aa jiv ṫoo rakʰėh ṫiv raha▫o. ||2||20||

So speaks Bhikhaa: the Lord has led me to meet the Guru. As You keep me, I remain; as You protect me, I survive. ||2||20||

ਪਹਿਰਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਨਾਹੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਹੈ ਆਸਣਿ ਚੜਿਅਉ ॥

Pahir samaaḋʰ sanaahu gi▫aan hæ aasaṇ chaṛi▫a▫o.

Wearing the armor of Samadhi, the Guru has mounted the saddled horse of spiritual wisdom.

ਧ੍ਰੰਮ ਧਨਖੁ ਕਰ ਗਹਿਓ ਭਗਤ ਸੀਲਹ ਸਰਿ ਲੜਿਅਉ ॥

Ḋʰaramm ḋʰanakʰ kar gahi▫o bʰagaṫ seelah sar laṛi▫a▫o.

Holding the bow of Dharma in His Hands, He has shot the arrows of devotion and humility.

ਭੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਅਟਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਨੇਜਾ ਗਡਿਓ ॥

Bʰæ nirbʰa▫o har atal man sabaḋ gur néjaa gadi▫o.

He is fearless in the Fear of the Eternal Lord God; He has thrust the spear of the Word of the Guru’s Shabad into the mind.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਪਤੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਬਿਖੰਡਿਓ ॥

Kaam kroḋʰ lobʰ moh apaṫ panch ḋooṫ bikʰandi▫o.

He has cut down the five demons of unfulfilled sexual desire, unresolved anger, unsatisfied greed, emotional attachment and self-conceit.

ਭਲਉ ਭੂਹਾਲੁ ਤੇਜੋ ਤਨਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਰਿ ॥

Bʰala▫o bʰoohaal ṫéjo ṫanaa nripṫ naaṫʰ Naanak bar.

Guru Amar Das, the son of Tayj Bhaan, of the noble Bhalla dynasty, blessed by Guru Nanak, is the Master of kings.

ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਸਚੁ ਸਲੵ ਭਣਿ ਤੈ ਦਲੁ ਜਿਤਉ ਇਵ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿ ॥੧॥੨੧॥

Gur Amarḋaas sach sal▫y bʰaṇ ṫæ ḋal jiṫa▫o iv juḋʰ kar. ||1||21||

SALL speaks the truth; O Guru Amar Das, you have conquered the army of evil, fighting the battle this way. ||1||21||

ਘਨਹਰ ਬੂੰਦ ਬਸੁਅ ਰੋਮਾਵਲਿ ਕੁਸਮ ਬਸੰਤ ਗਨੰਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

Gʰanhar boonḋ basu▫a romaaval kusam basanṫ gananṫ na aavæ.

The raindrops of the clouds, the plants of the earth, and the flowers of the spring cannot be counted.

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਗੰਗ ਤਰੰਗ ਅੰਤੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

Rav sas kiraṇ uḋar saagar ko gang ṫarang anṫ ko paavæ.

Who can know the limits of the rays of the sun and the moon, the waves of the ocean and the Ganges?

ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਜਨ ਭਲੵ ਉਨਹ ਜੋੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

Ruḋr ḋʰi▫aan gi▫aan saṫgur ké kab jan bʰal▫y unah jo gaavæ.

With Shiva’s meditation and the spiritual wisdom of the True Guru, says BHALL the poet, these may be counted.

ਭਲੇ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥੨੨॥

Bʰalé Amarḋaas guṇ ṫéré ṫéree upmaa ṫohi ban aavæ. ||1||22||

O Guru Amar Das, Your Glorious Virtues are so sublime; Your Praises belong only to You. ||1||22||

ਸਵਈਏ ਮਹਲੇ ਚਉਥੇ ਕੇ ੪

Sava▫ee▫é mahlé cha▫uṫʰé ké 4

Swaiyas In Praise Of The Fourth Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥

Ik man purakʰ niranjan ḋʰi▫aava▫o.

Meditate single-mindedly on the Immaculate Primal Lord God.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦ ਗਾਵਉ ॥

Gur parsaaḋ har guṇ saḋ gaava▫o.

By Guru’s Grace, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever.

ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਗਾਸਾ ॥

Gun gaavaṫ man ho▫é bigaasaa.

Singing His Praises, the mind blossoms forth in ecstasy.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਿ ਜਨਹ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥

Saṫgur poor janah kee aasaa.

The True Guru fulfills the hopes of His humble servant.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਯਉ ॥

Saṫgur sév param paḋ paa▫ya▫o.

Serving the True Guru, the supreme-status is obtained.

ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਬਿਗਤੁ ਧਿਆਯਉ ॥

Abʰinaasee abigaṫ ḋʰi▫aa▫ya▫o.

Meditate on the Imperishable, Formless Lord God.

ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਦਾਰਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਨ ਚੰਪੈ ॥

Ṫis bʰété ḋaariḋar na champæ.

Meeting with Him, one escapes poverty.

ਕਲੵ ਸਹਾਰੁ ਤਾਸੁ ਗੁਣ ਜੰਪੈ ॥

Kal▫y sahaar ṫaas guṇ jampæ.

Kal Sahaar chants His Glorious Praises.

ਜੰਪਉ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਮਲ ਸੁਜਨ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੇ ਅਮਿਅ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਫੁਰਿਆ ॥

Jampa▫o guṇ bimal sujan jan kéré ami▫a naam jaa ka▫o furi▫aa.

I chant the pure praises of that humble being who has been blessed with the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਇਨਿ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਬਦ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਯਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਉਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ॥

In saṫgur sév sabaḋ ras paa▫yaa naam niranjan ur ḋʰari▫aa.

He served the True Guru and was blessed with the sublime essence of the Shabad, the Word of God. The Immaculate Naam has been enshrined in his heart.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿਕੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਚਾਹਕੁ ਤਤ ਸਮਤ ਸਰੇ ॥

Har naam rasik gobinḋ guṇ gaahak chaahak ṫaṫ samaṫ saré.

He enjoys and savors the Lord’s Name, and purchases the Glorious Virtues of the Lord of the Universe. He seeks the essence of reality; he is the Fountain of even-handed justice.

ਕਵਿ ਕਲੵ ਠਕੁਰ ਹਰਦਾਸ ਤਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਸਰ ਅਭਰ ਭਰੇ ॥੧॥

Kav kal▫y tʰakur harḋaas ṫané gur Raamḋaas sar abʰar bʰaré. ||1||

So, says KALL the poet: Guru Ram Das, the son of Har Das, fills the empty pools to overflowing. ||1||

ਛੁਟਤ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਅਮਿਅ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਸਦ ਭਰਿਆ ॥

Chʰutaṫ parvaah ami▫a amraa paḋ amriṫ sarovar saḋ bʰari▫aa.

The stream of ambrosial nectar flows and the immortal status is obtained; the pool is forever overflowing with Ambrosial Nectar.

ਤੇ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਪੁਬ ਜਿਨਹੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀਆ ॥

Ṫé peevėh sanṫ karahi man majan pub jinahu sévaa karee▫aa.

Those Saints who have served the Lord in the past drink this Nectar, and bathe their minds in it.

ਤਿਨ ਭਉ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਅਨਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਸਬਦ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਧਰੇ ॥

Ṫin bʰa▫o nivaar anbʰæ paḋ ḋeenaa sabaḋ maṫar ṫé uḋʰar ḋʰaré.

God takes their fears away, and blesses them with the state of fearless dignity. Through the Word of His Shabad, He has saved them.

ਕਵਿ ਕਲੵ ਠਕੁਰ ਹਰਦਾਸ ਤਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਸਰ ਅਭਰ ਭਰੇ ॥੨॥

ਸਤਗੁਰ ਮਤਿ ਗੂੜੑ ਬਿਮਲ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਆਤਮੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੁ ਭਯਾ ॥

Saṫgur maṫ gooṛĥ bimal saṫsangaṫ aaṫam rang chalool bʰa▫yaa.

The True Guru’s understanding is deep and profound. The Sat Sangat is His Pure Congregation. His Soul is drenched in the deep crimson color of the Lord’s Love.

ਜਾਗੵਾ ਮਨੁ ਕਵਲੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਰਕਾਸੵਾ ਅਭੈ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਘਰਹਿ ਲਹਾ ॥

Jaag▫yaa man kaval sahj parkaas▫yaa abʰæ niranjan gʰarėh lahaa.

The Lotus of His mind remains awake and aware, illuminated with intuitive wisdom. In His own home, He has obtained the Fearless, Immaculate Lord.
