256 ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pa▫oṛee. Pauree: ਠਠਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਠਾਹਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ Tʰatʰaa manoo▫aa tʰaahėh naahee. T’HAT’HA: They do not make trouble for anyone’s mind, ਜੋ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਏਕਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਹੀ ॥ Jo sagal ṫi▫aag ékėh laptaahee. who have abandoned all else and who cling to the One Lord alone. ਠਹਕਿ ਠਹਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਏ ॥ Tʰahak tʰahak maa▫i▫aa sang moo▫é. Those who are totally absorbed and preoccupied with Maya are dead; ਉਆ ਕੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਹੂਏ ॥ U▫aa kæ kusal na kaṫhoo hoo▫é. they do not find happiness anywhere. ਠਾਂਢਿ ਪਰੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥ Tʰaaⁿdʰ paree sanṫėh sang basi▫aa. One who dwells in the Society of the Saints finds a great peace; ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹਾ ਜੀਅ ਰਸਿਆ ॥ Amriṫ naam ṫahaa jee▫a rasi▫aa. the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam becomes sweet to his soul. ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ Tʰaakur apuné jo jan bʰaa▫i▫aa. That humble being, who is pleasing to his Lord and Master - ਨਾਨਕ ਉਆ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੮॥ Naanak u▫aa kaa man seeṫlaa▫i▫aa. ||28|| O Nanak! His mind is cooled and soothed. ||28|| ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਬੰਦਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ ॥ Dand▫uṫ banḋan anik baar sarab kalaa samraṫʰ. I bow down, and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-powerful Lord, who possesses all powers. ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਥ ॥੧॥ Dolan ṫé raakʰo parabʰoo Naanak ḋé kar haṫʰ. ||1|| Please protect me, and save me from wandering, God. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pa▫oṛee. Pauree: ਡਡਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਹ ਡੇਰਾ ਤਹ ਜਾਨੁ ॥ Dadaa déraa ih nahee jah déraa ṫah jaan. DADDA: This is not your true place; you must know where that place really is. ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥ U▫aa déraa kaa sanjamo gur kæ sabaḋ pachʰaan. You shall come to realize the way to that place, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ਇਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਉ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਘਾਲੈ ॥ I▫aa déraa ka▫o saram kar gʰaalæ. This place, here, is established by hard work, ਜਾ ਕਾ ਤਸੂ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥ Jaa kaa ṫasoo nahee sang chaalæ. but not one iota of this shall go there with you. ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕੀ ਸੋ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ U▫aa déraa kee so miṫ jaanæ. The value of that place beyond is known only to those, ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ॥ Jaa ka▫o ḋarisat pooran bʰagvaanæ. upon whom the Perfect Lord God casts His Glance of Grace. ਡੇਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ Déraa nihchal sach saaḋʰsang paa▫i▫aa. That permanent and true place is obtained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਹ ਡੋਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੯॥ Naanak ṫé jan nah dolaa▫i▫aa. ||29|| O Nanak! Those humble beings do not waver or wander. ||29|| ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਢਾਹਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਨ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਬੰਧ ॥ Dʰaahan laagé ḋʰaram raa▫é kinėh na gʰaali▫o banḋʰ. When the Righteous Judge of Dharma begins to destroy someone, no one can place any obstacle in His Way. ਨਾਨਕ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਨਬੰਧ ॥੧॥ Naanak ubré jap haree saaḋʰsang san▫banḋʰ. ||1|| O Nanak! Those who join the Saadh Sangat and meditate on the Lord are saved. ||1|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pa▫oṛee. Pauree: ਢਢਾ ਢੂਢਤ ਕਹ ਫਿਰਹੁ ਢੂਢਨੁ ਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ Dʰadʰaa dʰoodʰaṫ kah firahu dʰoodʰan i▫aa man maahi. DHADHA: Where are you going, wandering and searching? Search instead within your own mind. ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਸੈ ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਫਿਰਾਹਿ ॥ Sang ṫuhaaræ parabʰ basæ ban ban kahaa firaahi. God is with you, so why do you wander around from forest to forest? ਢੇਰੀ ਢਾਹਹੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥ Dʰéree ḋʰahhu saaḋʰsang ahaⁿ▫buḋʰ bikraal. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, tear down the mound of your frightful, egotistical pride. ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਸਹੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥ Sukʰ paavhu sėhjé bashu ḋarsan ḋékʰ nihaal. You shall find peace, and abide in intuitive bliss; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God’s Darshan, you shall be delighted. ਢੇਰੀ ਜਾਮੈ ਜਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥ Dʰéree jaamæ jam maræ garabʰ jon ḋukʰ paa▫é. One who has such a mound as this, dies and suffers the pain of reincarnation through the womb. ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਲਪਟਤ ਰਹੈ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ Moh magan laptaṫ rahæ ha▫o ha▫o aavæ jaa▫é. One who is intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in egotism, selfishness and conceit, shall continue coming and going in reincarnation. ਢਹਤ ਢਹਤ ਅਬ ਢਹਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥ Dʰahaṫ dʰahaṫ ab dʰėh paré saaḋʰ janaa sarnaa▫é. Slowly and steadily, I have now surrendered to the Holy Saints; I have come to their Sanctuary. ਦੁਖ ਕੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਏ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩੦॥ Ḋukʰ ké faahé kaati▫aa Naanak lee▫é samaa▫é. ||30|| God has cut away the noose of my pain; O Nanak! He has merged me into Himself. ||30|| ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਜਹ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੀਤ ॥ Jah saaḋʰoo gobiḋ bʰajan keerṫan Naanak neeṫ. Where the Holy people constantly vibrate the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, O Nanak - ਣਾ ਹਉ ਣਾ ਤੂੰ ਣਹ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਅਹੁ ਦੂਤ ॥੧॥ Ņaa ha▫o ṇaa ṫooⁿ ṇah chʰutėh nikat na jaa▫ee▫ahu ḋooṫ. ||1|| the Righteous Judge says, “Do not approach that place, O Messenger of Death, or else neither you nor I shall escape!” ||1|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pa▫oṛee. Pauree: ਣਾਣਾ ਰਣ ਤੇ ਸੀਝੀਐ ਆਤਮ ਜੀਤੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ Ņaaṇaa raṇ ṫé seejʰee▫æ aaṫam jeeṫæ ko▫é. NANNA: One who conquers his own soul, wins the battle of life. ਹਉਮੈ ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਸੋਭਾ ਦੂ ਹੋਇ ॥ Ha▫umæ an si▫o lar maræ so sobʰaa ḋoo ho▫é. One who dies, while fighting against egotism and alienation, becomes sublime and beautiful. ਮਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥ Maṇee mitaa▫é jeevaṫ maræ gur pooré upḋés. One who eradicates his ego, remains dead while still alive, through the Teachings of the Perfect Guru. ਮਨੂਆ ਜੀਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੂਰਤਣ ਵੇਸ ॥ Manoo▫aa jeeṫæ har milæ ṫih soorṫaṇ vés. He conquers his mind, and meets the Lord; he is dressed in robes of honor. ਣਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਣੋ ਏਕਹਿ ਟੇਕ ਅਧਾਰ ॥ Ņaa ko jaaṇæ aapṇo ékėh ték aḋʰaar. He does not claim anything as his own; the One Lord is his Anchor and Support. ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਣਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ Ræṇ ḋiṇas simraṫ rahæ so parabʰ purakʰ apaar. Night and day, he continually contemplates the Almighty, Infinite Lord God. ਰੇਣ ਸਗਲ ਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਏਊ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ Réṇ sagal i▫aa man karæ é▫oo karam kamaa▫é. He makes his mind the dust of all; such is the karma of the deeds he does. ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੩੧॥ Hukmæ boojʰæ saḋaa sukʰ Naanak likʰi▫aa paa▫é. ||31|| Understanding the Hukam of the Lord’s Command, he attains everlasting peace. O Nanak! Such is his preordained destiny. ||31|| ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥ Ṫan man ḋʰan arpa▫o ṫisæ parabʰoo milaavæ mohi. I offer my body, mind and wealth to anyone who can unite me with God. ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੋਹ ॥੧॥ Naanak bʰaram bʰa▫o kaatee▫æ chookæ jam kee joh. ||1|| O Nanak! My doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. ||1|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pa▫oṛee. Pauree: ਤਤਾ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਰਾਇ ॥ Ṫaṫaa ṫaa si▫o pareeṫ kar guṇ niḋʰ gobiḋ raa▫é. TATTA: Embrace love for the Treasure of Excellence, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe. ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਛਤੇ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ Fal paavahi man baachʰ▫ṫé ṫapaṫ ṫuhaaree jaa▫é. You shall obtain the fruits of your mind’s desires, and your burning thirst shall be quenched. |
