581 ਹਉ ਮੁਠੜੀ ਧੰਧੈ ਧਾਵਣੀਆ ਪਿਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਅੜੀ ਵਿਧਣਕਾਰੇ ॥ Ha▫o mutʰ▫ṛee ḋʰanḋʰæ ḋʰaavaṇee▫aa pir chʰodi▫aṛee viḋʰaṇkaaré. I too have been defrauded, chasing after worldly entanglements; my Husband Lord has forsaken me - I practice the evil deeds of a wife without a spouse. ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਮਹੇਲੀਆ ਰੂੜੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ Gʰar gʰar kanṫ mahélee▫aa rooṛæ héṫ pi▫aaré. In each and every home, are the brides of the Husband Lord; they gaze upon their Handsome Lord with love and affection. ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਹਉ ਰਹਸਿਅੜੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਭਤਾਰੇ ॥੭॥ Mæ pir sach salaahṇaa ha▫o rėhsi▫aṛee naam bʰaṫaaré. ||7|| I sing the Praises of my True Husband Lord, and through the Naam, the Name of my Husband Lord, I blossom forth. ||7|| ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਵੇਸੁ ਪਲਟਿਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸਚੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥ Gur mili▫æ vés palti▫aa saa ḋʰan sach seegaaro. Meeting with the Guru, the soul-bride’s dress is transformed, and she is adorned with Truth. ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥ Aavhu milhu sahéleeho simrahu sirjaṇhaaro. Come and meet with me, O brides of the Lord; let’s meditate in remembrance of the Creator Lord. ਬਈਅਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੋੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ॥ Ba▫ee▫ar naam sohaagaṇee sach savaaraṇhaaro. Through the Naam, the soul-bride becomes the Lord’s favorite; she is adorned with Truth. ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੀਤੁ ਨ ਬਿਰਹੜਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੮॥੩॥ Gaavhu geeṫ na bir▫haṛaa Naanak barahm beechaaro. ||8||3|| Do not sing the songs of separation, O Nanak; reflect upon God. ||8||3|| ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ vad▫hans mėhlaa 1. Wadahans, First Mehl: ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗੁ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਜਾਣੋਵਾ ॥ Jin jag siraj samaa▫i▫aa so saahib kuḋraṫ jaaṇovaa. The One who creates and dissolves the world - that Lord and Master alone knows His creative power. ਸਚੜਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੋਵਾ ॥ Sachṛaa ḋoor na bʰaalee▫æ gʰat gʰat sabaḋ pachʰaaṇovaa. Do not search for the True Lord far away; recognize the Word of the Shabad in each and every heart. ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਹੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਾਚੀ ॥ Sach sabaḋ pachʰaaṇhu ḋoor na jaaṇhu jin éh rachnaa raachee. Recognize the Shabad, and do not think that the Lord is far away; He created this creation. ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਿੜ ਕਾਚੀ ॥ Naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é ṫaa sukʰ paa▫é bin naavæ piṛ kaachee. Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one obtains peace; without the Naam, he plays a losing game. ਜਿਨਿ ਥਾਪੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਵਖਾਣੋ ॥ Jin ṫʰaapee biḋʰ jaaṇæ so▫ee ki▫aa ko kahæ vakʰaaṇo. The One who established the Universe, He alone knows the Way; what can anyone say? ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਵਤਾਇਆ ਜਾਲੋੁ ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੋ ॥੧॥ Jin jag ṫʰaap vaṫaa▫i▫aa jaalo so saahib parvaaṇo. ||1|| The One who established the world cast the net of Maya over it; accept Him as your Lord and Master. ||1|| ਬਾਬਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਠਿ ਚਲਣਾ ਅਧ ਪੰਧੈ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੋਵਾ ॥ Baabaa aa▫i▫aa hæ utʰ chalṇaa aḋʰ panḋʰæ hæ sansaarovaa. O Baba, he has come, and now he must get up and depart; this world is only a way-station. ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਚੜੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੋਵਾ ॥ Sir sir sachṛæ likʰi▫aa ḋukʰ sukʰ purab veechaarovaa. Upon each and every head, the True Lord writes their destiny of pain and pleasure, according to their past actions. ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ Ḋukʰ sukʰ ḋee▫aa jéhaa kee▫aa so nibhæ jee▫a naalé. He bestows pain and pleasure, according to the deeds done; the record of these deeds stays with the soul. ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੂਜੀ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਭਾਲੇ ॥ Jéhé karam karaa▫é karṫaa ḋoojee kaar na bʰaalé. He does those deeds which the Creator Lord causes him to do; he attempts no other actions. ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਬਾਧੀ ਕਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਛਡਾਵਣਹਾਰੋ ॥ Aap niraalam ḋʰanḋʰæ baaḋʰee kar hukam chʰadaavaṇhaaro. The Lord Himself is detached, while the world is entangled in conflict; by His Command, He emancipates it. ਅਜੁ ਕਲਿ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਕਾਰੋ ॥੨॥ Aj kal karḋi▫aa kaal bi▫aapæ ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é vikaaro. ||2|| He may put this off today, but tomorrow he is seized by death; in love with duality, he practices corruption. ||2|| ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗ ਪੰਥੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਉਝੜੁ ਅੰਧ ਗੁਬਾਰੋਵਾ ॥ Jam maarag panṫʰ na sujʰ▫ee ujʰaṛ anḋʰ gubaarovaa. The path of death is dark and dismal; the way cannot be seen. ਨਾ ਜਲੁ ਲੇਫ ਤੁਲਾਈਆ ਨਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਪਰਕਾਰੋਵਾ ॥ Naa jal léf ṫulaa▫ee▫aa naa bʰojan parkaarovaa. There is no water, no quilt or mattress, and no food there. ਭੋਜਨ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਠੰਢਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥ Bʰojan bʰaa▫o na tʰandʰaa paaṇee naa kaapaṛ seegaaro. He receives no food there, no honor or water, no clothes or decorations. ਗਲਿ ਸੰਗਲੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਊਭੌ ਨਾ ਦੀਸੈ ਘਰ ਬਾਰੋ ॥ Gal sangal sir maaré oobʰou naa ḋeesæ gʰar baaro. The chain is put around his neck, and the Messenger of Death standing over his head strikes him; he cannot see the door of his home. ਇਬ ਕੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਜੰਮਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰੋ ॥ Ib ké raahé jamman naahee pachʰuṫaaṇé sir bʰaaro. The seeds planted on this path do not sprout; bearing the weight of his sins upon his head, he regrets and repents. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੩॥ Bin saaché ko bélee naahee saachaa éhu beechaaro. ||3|| Without the True Lord, no one is his friend; reflect upon this as true. ||3|| ਬਾਬਾ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਰਵਹਿ ਸੁ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇਵਾ ॥ Baabaa rovėh ravėh so jaaṇee▫ahi mil rovæ guṇ saarévaa. O Baba, they alone are known to truly weep and wail, who meet together and weep, chanting the Praises of the Lord. ਰੋਵੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੁਠੜੀ ਧੰਧੜਾ ਰੋਵਣਹਾਰੇਵਾ ॥ Rovæ maa▫i▫aa mutʰ▫ṛee ḋʰanḋʰ▫ṛaa rovaṇhaarévaa. Defrauded by Maya and worldly affairs, the weepers weep. ਧੰਧਾ ਰੋਵੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਧੋਵੈ ਸੁਪਨੰਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥ Ḋʰanḋʰaa rovæ mæl na ḋʰovæ supnanṫar sansaaro. They weep for the sake of worldly affairs, and they do not wash off their own filth; the world is merely a dream. ਜਿਉ ਬਾਜੀਗਰੁ ਭਰਮੈ ਭੂਲੈ ਝੂਠਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੋ ॥ Ji▫o baajeegar bʰarmæ bʰoolæ jʰootʰ mutʰee ahankaaro. Like the juggler, deceiving by his tricks, one is deluded by egotism, falsehood and illusion. ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ Aapé maarag paavaṇhaaraa aapé karam kamaa▫é. The Lord Himself reveals the Path; He Himself is the Doer of deeds. ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਰਾਖੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥ Naam raṫé gur pooræ raakʰé Naanak sahj subʰaa▫é. ||4||4|| Those who are imbued with the Naam, are protected by the Perfect Guru, O Nanak; they merge in celestial bliss. ||4||4|| ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ vad▫hans mėhlaa 1. Wadahans, First Mehl: ਬਾਬਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਠਿ ਚਲਣਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਸਾਰੋਵਾ ॥ Baabaa aa▫i▫aa hæ utʰ chalṇaa ih jag jʰootʰ pasaarovaa. O Baba, whoever has come, will rise up and leave; this world is merely a false show. ਸਚਾ ਘਰੁ ਸਚੜੈ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਖਰਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੋਵਾ ॥ Sachaa gʰar sachṛæ sévee▫æ sach kʰaraa sachi▫aarovaa. One’s true home is obtained by serving the True Lord; real Truth is obtained by being truthful. ਕੂੜਿ ਲਬਿ ਜਾਂ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਠਾਓ ॥ Kooṛ lab jaaⁿ ṫʰaa▫é na paasee agæ lahæ na tʰaa▫o. By falsehood and greed, no place of rest is found, and no place in the world hereafter is obtained. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਉ ਨ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਓ ॥ Anṫar aa▫o na bæshu kahee▫æ ji▫o suñæ gʰar kaa▫o. No one invites him to come in and sit down. He is like a crow in a deserted home. ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਵਡਾ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ Jamaṇ maraṇ vadaa véchʰoṛaa binsæ jag sabaa▫é. Trapped by birth and death, he is separated from the Lord for such a long time; the whole world is wasting away. ਲਬਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗਤੁ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਖੜਾ ਰੂਆਏ ॥੧॥ Lab ḋʰanḋʰæ maa▫i▫aa jagaṫ bʰulaa▫i▫aa kaal kʰaṛaa roo▫aa▫é. ||1|| Greed, worldly entanglements and Maya deceive the world. Death hovers over its head, and causes it to weep. ||1|| |
