277 ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥ Anṫ nahee kichʰ paaraavaaraa. He has no end or limitation. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਧਰ ਰਹਾਵੈ ॥ Hukmé ḋʰaar aḋʰar rahaavæ. By His Order, He established the earth, and He maintains it unsupported. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ Hukmé upjæ hukam samaavæ. By His Order, the world was created; by His Order, it shall merge again into Him. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ Hukmé ooch neech bi▫uhaar. By His Order, one’s occupation is high or low. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥ Hukmé anik rang parkaar. By His Order, there are so many colors and forms. ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ Kar kar ḋékʰæ apnee vadi▫aa▫ee. Having created the Creation, He beholds His own greatness. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ Naanak sabʰ mėh rahi▫aa samaa▫ee. ||1|| O Nanak! He is pervading in all. ||1|| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ Parabʰ bʰaavæ maanukʰ gaṫ paavæ. If it pleases God, one attains salvation. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥ Parabʰ bʰaavæ ṫaa paaṫʰar ṫaraavæ. If it pleases God, then even stones can swim. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥ Parabʰ bʰaavæ bin saas ṫé raakʰæ. If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਖੈ ॥ Parabʰ bʰaavæ ṫaa har guṇ bʰaakʰæ. If it pleases God, then one chants the Lord’s Glorious Praises. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥ Parabʰ bʰaavæ ṫaa paṫiṫ uḋʰaaræ. If it pleases God, then even sinners are saved. ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਆਪਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥ Aap karæ aapan beechaaræ. He Himself acts, and He Himself contemplates. ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ Ḋuhaa siri▫aa kaa aap su▫aamee. He Himself is the Master of both worlds. ਖੇਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ Kʰélæ bigsæ anṫarjaamee. He plays and He enjoys; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥ Jo bʰaavæ so kaar karaavæ. As He wills, He causes actions to be done. ਨਾਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥ Naanak ḋaristee avar na aavæ. ||2|| Nanak sees no other than Him. ||2|| ਕਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈ ॥ Kaho maanukʰ ṫé ki▫aa ho▫é aavæ. Tell me - what can a mere mortal do? ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥ Jo ṫis bʰaavæ so▫ee karaavæ. Whatever pleases God is what He causes us to do. ਇਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਇ ॥ Is kæ haaṫʰ ho▫é ṫaa sabʰ kichʰ lé▫é. If it were in our hands, we would grab up everything. ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ Jo ṫis bʰaavæ so▫ee karé▫i. Whatever pleases God - that is what He does. ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਚੈ ॥ Anjaanaṫ bikʰi▫aa mėh rachæ. Through ignorance, people are engrossed in corruption. ਜੇ ਜਾਨਤ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਬਚੈ ॥ Jé jaanaṫ aapan aap bachæ. If they knew better, they would save themselves. ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ Bʰarmé bʰoolaa ḋah ḋis ḋʰaavæ. Deluded by doubt, they wander around in the ten directions. ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ Nimakʰ maahi chaar kunt fir aavæ. In an instant, their minds go around the four corners of the world and come back again. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ Kar kirpaa jis apnee bʰagaṫ ḋé▫é. Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His devotional worship - ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੇਇ ॥੩॥ Naanak ṫé jan naam milé▫é. ||3|| O Nanak! They are absorbed into the Naam. ||3|| ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨੀਚ ਕੀਟ ਕਉ ਰਾਜ ॥ Kʰin mėh neech keet ka▫o raaj. In an instant, the lowly worm is transformed into a king. ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥ Paarbarahm gareeb nivaaj. The Supreme Lord God is the Protector of the humble. ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ Jaa kaa ḋarisat kachʰoo na aavæ. Even one who has never been seen at all, ਤਿਸੁ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥ Ṫis ṫaṫkaal ḋah ḋis paragtaavæ. becomes instantly famous in the ten directions. ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰੈ ਬਖਸੀਸ ॥ Jaa ka▫o apunee karæ bakʰsees. And that one upon whom He bestows His blessings - ਤਾ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨ ਗਨੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ॥ Ṫaa kaa lékʰaa na ganæ jagḋees. the Lord of the world does not hold him to his account. ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ Jee▫o pind sabʰ ṫis kee raas. Soul and body are all His property. ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥ Gʰat gʰat pooran barahm pargaas. Each and every heart is illuminated by the Perfect Lord God. ਅਪਨੀ ਬਣਤ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਈ ॥ Apnee baṇaṫ aap banaa▫ee. He Himself fashioned His own handiwork. ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੪॥ Naanak jeevæ ḋékʰ badaa▫ee. ||4|| Nanak lives by beholding His greatness. ||4|| ਇਸ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਹਾਥ ॥ Is kaa bal naahee is haaṫʰ. There is no power in the hands of mortal beings; ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥ Karan karaavan sarab ko naaṫʰ. the Doer, the Cause of all causes is the Lord of all. ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ Aagi▫aakaaree bapuraa jee▫o. The helpless beings are subject to His Command. ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਥੀਉ ॥ Jo ṫis bʰaavæ so▫ee fun ṫʰee▫o. That which pleases Him, ultimately comes to pass. ਕਬਹੂ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਮਹਿ ਬਸੈ ॥ Kabhoo ooch neech mėh basæ. Sometimes, they abide in exaltation; sometimes, they are depressed. ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਸੈ ॥ Kabhoo sog harakʰ rang hasæ. Sometimes, they are sad, and sometimes they laugh with joy and delight. ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ Kabhoo ninḋ chinḋ bi▫uhaar. Sometimes, they are occupied with slander and anxiety. ਕਬਹੂ ਊਭ ਅਕਾਸ ਪਇਆਲ ॥ Kabhoo oobʰ akaas pa▫i▫aal. Sometimes, they are high in the Akashic Ethers, sometimes in the nether regions of the underworld. ਕਬਹੂ ਬੇਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ Kabhoo béṫaa barahm beechaar. Sometimes, they know the contemplation of God. ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੫॥ Naanak aap milaavaṇhaar. ||5|| O Nanak! God Himself unites them with Himself. ||5|| ਕਬਹੂ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥ Kabhoo niraṫ karæ baho bʰaaṫ. Sometimes, they dance in various ways. ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ Kabhoo so▫é rahæ ḋin raaṫ. Sometimes, they remain asleep day and night. ਕਬਹੂ ਮਹਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥ Kabhoo mahaa kroḋʰ bikraal. Sometimes, they are awesome, in terrible rage. ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਹੋਤ ਰਵਾਲ ॥ Kabahooⁿ sarab kee hoṫ ravaal. Sometimes, they are the dust of the feet of all. ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੈ ਬਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ Kabhoo ho▫é bahæ bad raajaa. Sometimes, they sit as great kings. ਕਬਹੁ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਨੀਚ ਕਾ ਸਾਜਾ ॥ Kabahu bʰékʰaaree neech kaa saajaa. Sometimes, they wear the coat of a lowly beggar. ਕਬਹੂ ਅਪਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ Kabhoo apkeeraṫ mėh aavæ. Sometimes, they come to have evil reputations. ਕਬਹੂ ਭਲਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥ Kabhoo bʰalaa bʰalaa kahaavæ. Sometimes, they are known as very, very good. ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹੈ ॥ Ji▫o parabʰ raakʰæ ṫiv hee rahæ. As God keeps them, so they remain. ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੈ ॥੬॥ Gur parsaaḋ Naanak sach kahæ. ||6|| By Guru’s Grace, O Nanak! The Truth is told. ||6|| ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਇ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਬਖੵਾਨੁ ॥ Kabhoo ho▫é pandiṫ karé bakʰ▫yaan. Sometimes, as scholars, they deliver lectures. ਕਬਹੂ ਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀ ਲਾਵੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ Kabhoo moniḋʰaaree laavæ ḋʰi▫aan. Sometimes, they hold to silence in deep meditation. ਕਬਹੂ ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥ Kabhoo ṫat ṫiraṫʰ isnaan. Sometimes, they take cleansing baths at places of pilgrimage. ਕਬਹੂ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ ॥ Kabhoo siḋʰ saaḋʰik mukʰ gi▫aan. Sometimes, as Siddhas or seekers, they impart spiritual wisdom. ਕਬਹੂ ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਪਤੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਆ ॥ Kabhoo keet hasaṫ paṫang ho▫é jee▫aa. Sometimes, they become worms, elephants, or moths. ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਰਮੈ ਭਰਮੀਆ ॥ Anik jon bʰarmæ bʰarmee▫aa. They may wander and roam through countless incarnations. |
